Diaper rash is often painful for the child, and if care is not taken quickly, diaper rash can quickly progress to a very painful rash that could bleed or become infected.

Great idea about the baking soda.
I am a pediatric home nurse and my patient had a severe diaper rash a couple of weeks ago related to diarrhea. After a couple of calls to the Pediatrician, the nurse recommended a mix of over the counter meds. It cleared up my patient quickly. Some may call the mixture Happy Hiney or miracle Butt Cream.
1 part hydrocortisone, 1 part mylanta, 1 part Lamisil and 2 parts Destin. It is amazing.
