Just imagine you are in depression, the only thing that's keeping you sane are the simple things in life, like a sandwich in this case. There's nothing worse than looking up to a specific thing the entire day and then get it taken away like it's nothing.

I used to think Ross was acting crazy. Then I got an office job with a common kitchen. I understand Ross's frustration now.

yeah people would say Ross wasn't funny back when this show was on the air. Looking back, I feel really bad for jumping on the bandwagon. As an adult I can see he is VERY funny and has good comedic timing!

@@guypeate3628 Good news: I have the ability to tell what people are writing by their pen movements! It's not perfect, obviously, but I can get close and then narrow it down by context.
It appears Phoebe wrote "This is mine. Don't even DARE!!!", but "Dare" seems to be written far larger than the rest, and it's suggested (by her banging the pen) that she dotted her exclamation points with such force as to make holes in the paper.
So, it's not *what* she said, it's the way she wrote it suggesting rage while its being written. Hesse why his co-workers are calling him "mental" and "angry".
No it’s actually not funny. It’s the devil in the detail. It’s the willingness to normalise violence under the guise of comedy and plant little seeds of destruction with no social responsibility. It’s taking the joke too far into dark terrain having lulled people into a state of false security and trust because you entertained them and made them laugh and the audience formed an emotional attachment to the characters and ultimately its selling out and it’s witchcraft. I know I sound like the super intense psychoanalytic guy from that episode where he ripped the social dynamics of their friendship group apart but people didn’t take this as just entertainment and left it at that. I loved this show but people have conducted their lives imitating the way these characters lived and mistook it for truth and reality when it was about engineering men and women to live a certain way. It had many nice moments don’t get me wrong but it’s mixing truth with lies and people have died because of this. I wish it wasn’t that serious but it is. There are certain things that shouldn’t be said and it’s not appropriate to joke about stabbing someone. One should refuse point blank to say these things. I get that Phoebe was a quirky eccentric character but like it’s crossing a line and it’s evil as subtle as it might seem. And frankly everyone around me is like a cyclops and they serve the devil so I see the effects. People idolised these tv shows and lifestyles represented therein. And I loved it as just entertainment but most people are spiritually dead and on the broad path that the Bible speaks about. Canned laughter or no canned laughter to make it alright it’s not funny to normalise and desensitise people to the notion of stabbing someone and treat it as a joke. That’s weird and evil and it’s teaching people to be hard hearted and cold and not to take these things with due gravity. It’s not ‘He or she unfriended me first on IG’. It’s stabbing someone and trying to make that alright because the rest of the episode made you laugh and forget your troubles and entertained you for 30 mins. I just don’t think it’s appropriate. The thief the devil is just all over that piece of dialogue dying to get into your home, into your head and destroy and end your life. All over it.

Well, they were all good, but from season 5 onward the scripts kinda played to David's strengths in physical comedy, his expressions are hilarious and on point

His frustration is so good in that scene with the professor, it's so realistic

Two things I will always agree with Ross on:
1. His extremely justified rage at having his sandwich stolen
2. Let's face it. They _were_ on a break
They were, but you still don't fuck someone right after going on said break, especially if you supposedly love the person you're on a break from and hope to get back together with them. I guarantee he'd have been pissed and hurt had she done that. Hell, that's why he did it, because he thought she was fucking Mark while he was out.

The show totally gaslit Rachel over the break thing. The argument wasn't originally whether they were on a break - it was whether Ross was justified in sleeping with another woman.
A break is not a breakup. Being on a break doesn't justify CHEATING.

David Schwimmer's acting was on point.
I just had a baby and the days have been very long and tiring. I had a leftover fried chicken sandwich with cheese in the fridge that I was looking forward to all day. I open the fridge and my husband ate my sandwich!!!! MY SANDWICH!!! ... I cried.

@Alan James Nah, that's not how we do things in my household. In our fridge we have a common section. Anything we put there is something that either me or my GF can take freely. She gets the door. Everything she puts in the door is for her and her alone. I get the bottom shelf. Anything that is put there belongs to me and only me.
And it's the same with the cupboards. We have a common shelf and then a private shelf that belongs to her or to me. And that system works. At least for us, it does.
The way Ross said "Hi" in the beginning reminded me the first episode where Ross walks into central Park and says "Hi", while Joey replies " This guy says Hi and I want to kill myself " 😆😆

Chandler is my most favourite character on the show , but David was the best -best-best actor on the show. I mean, his range of expressions , his approach to scenes , his voice modulation and his swift switch of moods was truly exceptional. He was an institution in his own right . Seriously, what an actor ! On topic, I understand the rage you feel when people gobble your favourite food without your permission. Dude, where art thy manners?

Post Divorce Ross is the funniest character of the show. They reinvented him and made him hilarious. David Schwimmer deserved to win some awards, he was easily the best actor of the show

Post Carol and Emily prior he’s more passive , and reserved less sarcastic. Afterwards he kind of grows up and really comes out of his shell at least imo I agree too his storylines become more interesting and he became one of the funniest cast members.

I totally understand why Ross got furious about his superior eating his sandwhich. Not only he took what isn't his, he gaslight Ross for "overreacting" to a "simple mistake that can happened to anyone" even tho he knew he was wrong. He admits that he SAW the note Ross wrote and disregards it anyway. He didn't even apologize properly when confronted. Maybe if he say that he like the sandwhich in the end, or praised how delicious that sandwhich was that he couldn't help himself but ate it all, it wouldn't be as bad. But the fact that he threw some of it away just show he didn't really appreciate that food. Like, ok, I get that maybe it was too large of a portion for his stomach, but he can bring the rest of it home to eat later, or at least tell Ross that he brought them home with him, instead of admitting that he threw it away in the trash. It was clearly Ross's favorite sandwhich that he can't wait to eat it himself, yet this man is basically insulting that food and brag about threwing it away in front of Ross's face. Yeah he clearly don't care. Its a shame that Ross only yell at him tho, he should've thrown some punches too~ 🙄🤭

Where I work we have a common lunch room and someone kept stealing my yogurts again and again (which I always left labeled). Two of those times I even left a note asking to not take it, but it still went missing. I had enough and one day I put a good amount of laxative in one and left it there as usual, and my yogurts never disappeared again. In my opinion, that kind of behaviour is rude and plain disrespectful.

My wife was a CNA and devoted her whole career to helping others. She always put herself last when it came to her patients and would even work sick sometimes. One day she called me and was crying because she was helping a client run some errands and had to leave in a hurry. She looked back after she helped the client get into her car and saw through the window a cup of tea she had just made for herself sitting on the counter. She didn't have time to go back and get it so she left so the client wouldn't be late. Through tears she told me "I just wanted a cup of tea for myself." Ross' behavior in this episode is totally relatable and actually heart-breaking in a real setting. It's interpreted as funny but for him it was anything but. When someone's life seems to be and endless ordeal of stressful situations, it really is the little things that keep you sane, whether it's a cup of tea or a sandwich.

This scene is absolutely and positivity so relatable on so many levels as I can totally relate to Ross frustration as you wrote a note that has your name on your lunch bag which specifically indicates that it's your property and the fact that person takes it despite seeing the note it just shows that they don't have no consideration or advance.
Ross showed considerable restraint here. Stealing someone's special Thanksgiving leftover sandwich and then throwing most of it in the trash because you weren't even that hungry is worth at least one hard kick in the wedding tackle. If someone hadn't eaten in 5 days and stole my sandwich, yeah, okay, fair enough, but this, this is just being a terrible person with no empathy.
