  • During the second day of "Corse Clienti" program organized by Ferrari at the Mugello circuit, I had the pleasure of seeing and filming in action the beautiful 1970 F1 312B ex Clay Regazzoni driven by the owner and collector Paolo Barilla whio, in 2016, with the help of Mauro Forghieri (car designer) restored this model. Particularities compared to the previous F1 Ferrari is the 3.000cc flat-12 mid-engine. Other featuresare the steel and aluminum body panels for a total weight of 534 Kg. In its competitive career, the 312B took part at 19 GP, anchieve 6 Pole Position and 5 winning races. It's a great pleasure to hear this 12-cylinder in the beautiful Mugello racetrack, Enjoy!

    Not sure kids today understand how intense and radical these F1 cars from 50 years ago were. Only three or four years before that, tyres were narrow and had grooves, cars had no downforce, and they were substantially slower. These cars from 1970 were monsters in our eyes.

      You're right, the engineer Forghieri who designed this car says it is the most innovative single-seater he ever made. There's a beautiful documentary titled Ferrari 312B where the car is explained step by step, the original F1 car that currently belongs to the Barilla pilot and collector. I suggest you see it.

    One of my favorite all-time F1 Ferrari’s. A masterpiece of beautiful design, fabulous sound, and F1 History. Actually saw Regazzoni drive one of these many years ago in Germany at Hockenheim. (complimenti per il video e per il sonoro, eccellente qualità)

    • @Italiansupercarvideo
      @Italiansupercarvideo  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dunque, premesso che non conosco i costi e purtroppo non conosco bene nessuno dei proprietari di queste F1 storiche, nello specifico questa è l'auto ora di proprietà di Barilla, posso dirti che gli pneumatici sicuramente sono rari e che probabilmente li fanno specificamente su richiesta. Si disputano ogni anno dei campionati di F1 storiche e quindi un mercato per queste gomme c'è eccome. Il costo è impegnativo. Le due parti bianche posteriori sono in realtà due canalizzatori d'aria che racchiudono 2 radiatori dell'olio, quindi il sistema serve per raffreddarli. Molto bello da vedere. Se guardi attentamente noterai che gli scarichi sono affianco dei convogliatori, essendo un motore boxer/piatto, anche collettori e marmitte girano bassi nei fianchi della vettura.

    So would a car like this with the bigger back tires be more prone to pushing in the corners or was it still possible to have a neutral or loose race car?

    • @Italiansupercarvideo
      @Italiansupercarvideo  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually, I think it's no longer possible to have racing cars with the same wheels on the front and rear. For a vehicle with rear-wheel drive, by mounting larger wheels behind, there is more excellent traction, the engine power is better transmitted to the wheels; moreover, the car is more stable and less nervous. The front and therefore the steering area is less unstable, especially in the quick changes of direction.

    • @GNX157
      @GNX157 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Would you say this tended to be a loose handling car or tight?

    • @Italiansupercarvideo
      @Italiansupercarvideo  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GNX157 What I want to say is that this configuration, with large rear wheels and smaller front ones, allow to be more stable and also in curves the car is less nervous because it's easier to manage. Furthermore, the wide wheels where there's traction allow the power to be discharged to the ground in optimal motion. This configuration is still used on racing cars and is much better than having the same type and width of tires on all four wheels. Practically no racing car has this configuration and the same modern rear-wheel-drive vehicles, I mean the sports ones but also many sedans (BMW, Mercedes) have different wheels between the front and rear.
