You know Luis is is enjoying the set when he jumps to the defence of every common in the crack a pack...
It's also a sign of a great format. Some cards and colours are worse in a vacuum, but (almost) all of them have a place in the format.
What a natural fit! Now I don't have to split my time between the channels 😂. Would love a weekly pod with all 3 hosts

One thing that chandilier has really helped me with is the black room that makes 2/2s. Every turn you can put out a 2/2 enchantment horror for 2 mana
Love seeing Cheon on the podcast again and so excited to see him more. It’s clear y’all enjoy having him on and the positive energy and knowledge he brings to the listen is so valuable. I would be ecstatic to see him as the 3rd host of LR and I hope that is in the cards. (Pun intended)

In absence of the limited resources trio that I’m sure we’d all love, couldn’t think of a better fill in co host than Paul, he’ll keep the energy of the show alive plenty well.
Been fun watching all ya'll gunning for #1. Seen just some of the coolest games of Magic on everyone's stream/YT Channel. Honestly Magic discourse has been so negative lately it's refreshing to see people excited about actually PLAYING the game.

Great episode and great format! always nice to see Paul joining the conversation. I do miss the card images poping up in the screen when you talk about them
I might have the worst record I've ever had in any format, and I'm still having a blast too. What a great set.
Oh these episodes with Paul are my favorite. only 25 min into it but its already a fun episode to hear luis talk about how he plays all these fringe cards cuz he's been drafting so much. Horrid Vigor - i could see this card being pretty good in a deck with multiple ways to have your attacker get first strike. the idea of a first striker with death touch is pretty nasty but prob doesn't come up too often.
Horrid vigor gives indestructible as well so you don't even need first strike

46:03 i think why the telephone feels so good sometimes is because a lot of the busted cards in red, blue, and white are all 2 power or less.
Arabella, the ghostly dancers, the hallway stalker thingie, the balloon man, gremlin tamer, both the blue and white enduring rares, the lionheart glimmer, the flash-vigilance thingie, toby the beastie befriender, the fear of immobility! and more im probably forgetting. This is a psuedo-card draw spell that lets you pick the best 2power drop in the top four of your deck, i think the deck context is really important for determining how good telephone is for you.
That is one of the funniest sign offs I have heard and I've been listening for a long time! LSV gives Paul so much crap and then in high stakes play he is 0-3 against him! Love it! Certainly sounds like a good friendship between all 3 and enjoyable to listen to.

These last two sets have been great for limited. Its nice to see it come back into focus on set design. duskmourn having that original modern masters garunteed foil has definately spiced up the draft format, and with the collector packs now its not like they are shifting the market with the extra card slot.

Thanks for content, echoing what some others have said I’d like to see the crack a packs on the screen.
Ideally any card that is a topic of conversation would be on screen, but I understand that would be a lot more effort.

This format’s great, a breath of fresh air compared to how strict bloomburrow’s archetypes felt. Even with GW being the weakest color pair, it still pulled its weight for me at last week’s FNM where I went 3-0
Also Paul is an excellent choice to sub in for next month

@31:58 - oh man, my biggest throw of the whole format: using Stay Hidden Stay Silent on an opponent's Cynical Loner. I let them Entomb their Shroudstomper and then the game was over real fast after that.
Love this because Luis and Paul are 2 of the 4 draft streamers I watch. But dang, is it me or are there way more ads on this channel than others?

In the discussion of Anthropede I feel like all of them glossed over completely the fact that some rooms continue to give value on the battlefield even after both doors have been unlocked. This doesn't make Anthropede good but cards like Unholy Annex//Ritual Chamber (one of the best rares in the set) do exist and removing your opponent's ability to draw an extra card and drain you for 2 each turn while playing chump blocker for the demon as a 23rd card to buy time for your good cards to show up isn't a complete blank. Love the show, just wondered why nobody mentioned that aspect of it while dismissing it.
The format let's you cook a bit, which in general leads to fun formats. I had the most fun (a bit bias as I went 7-1) with a 5x smokey lounge UR deck, before this one I had just as much fun with a grixis (ub+r) rooms crab mill you out deck that went 3-3.

Thank goodness Duskmourn is good, because every other format outside of limited is a *TRAIN WRECK* with Atraxa-Overfiend, Mono Red, One Ring, etc., etc.
Does anyone have any leads on the LSV vs Cheon face off they mentioned at the end of this? Did either of them have it uploaded to their channels to watch?
I did around 10 runs now and I can't get past 5 wins, yet I can't stop trying again. Got some tips on reevaluating cards I perhaps draft more than I should (like Creeper and the white cycler) from this episode though so hopefully I'll break a leg.

This is an awesome discussion but without showing the cards it doesn't stick in my brain.
You have wildly different opinions on some cards (for example landcyclers) then MJ DarkestMage. Would be fun to hear a discussion with him about the format. He is also doing pretty well top 50 Mythic
Just curious but did anyone catch what LSV said he thought the best green common? I couldn't hear what he said
I've had some success with the Crab, but I've also had games where it played out how Marshall is describing. Imagine your Crab milling a Delirium player's creature, enchantment and land and then promptly being killed by an instant/sorcery. You are not winning that game.

It was impossible to hear, but yes, as said above, LSV was saying "it's not the best *green* common, it's the best common."

Anyone here have thoughts on LSV doing that thing he mentioned at the end of the video about giving OP the token even when they never asked for it. I remember a video of him notoriously doing it with Legions Landing or something in the top 8 of some event and everyone was in arms about it being potentially cheating.
Not showing the cards is pretty rough
I feel like survival is a miss because of the lack of vehicles in the set. If there was just a vehicle or two at common or uncommon, it would feel so much better because it as a concept had to be balanced around being played in formats where you can run loads of vehicles. There just weren't enough recurring tap a creature for a small advantage cards.
give it two years and those twins will have a higher winrate on Arena than me
Excited to see an actual Limited Resource joining the cast, get rid of that Louis dude. He sounds like the kinda guy that would mulligan to 5 at the Pro Tour 🤷
I really wish they would show the cards they are talking about for their first pick, its really not necessary for us to see them visually just talking about them...
I disagree about the land cyclelers I think they’re better than Cheon and the rest make them out to be. If you’re cycling on turn 2 for a land you’re already in trouble bc you just don’t have a land to play on turn 3 not because you’re playing this card. They’re solid 6 drops that have utility to fix your latter land drops and can be huge to manifest. They’re not good in aggressive decks but in decks that go long I like them.
Just ignore them except the green one sometimes and your win rate will improve
The problem is that people are playing them over a land in a lot of instances. I basically will play landcyclers if I need a random large creature but won't trim on lands. Probably fine there.
@@haumphmakes sense. I’m playing them as random big dude that in a pinch can become a needed later land drop. If I’m cycling anytime before turn 4 I should’ve taken a mulligan.
