As a kid, I visited the 38th Street location shortly after it opened and many times in the following years. One of the games it had was Battlezone, which blew me away. In high school and college, I worked for Chuck E Cheese on 38th Street for more than five years, even earned a pin and a watch. I worked all parts of the unit, including making dough and pizza, prepping salad, dining room, game room, and I also played Chuck E in costume. In this video, you have a clip of a Chuck E at 38th Street who walks up to the Basketball game and starts shooting baskets. I am almost positive that is a guy named Derek who was hired strictly to play Chuck because he was very acrobatic and could do some amazing tricks in costume. He also loved to play the Basketball game in costume and the kids would cheer when he made baskets. I once made the terrible mistake of getting into the ball crawl in full Chuck costume because I had seen a commercial of Chuck in the ball crawl right before I reported to work. I was swarmed by small children and one monstrously strong boy ripped my helmet off my head and many other stunned kids whispered... Chuck E lost his head. I was also part of the overnight team which stripped the animatronics of their Rockafire costumes and consigned them to the living hell of the far inferior Chuck E costumes, which looked terrible from the dining room and like cheap stuffed animals up close. The original Rockafire skins were Disney quality with rubber which was still pliant and lifelike ten years after installation. I developed decent skills at all the games, but my specialties were Centipede, TMNT, the Hockey game, Air Hockey, and Roadblasters. It is a special feeling to whip your manager at a game of Hockey after hours. A couple of years after my Chuck E career had ended, my friend had worked his way up the Chuck E chain and was now Assistant Manager of the 38th Street location and hired me to cut the grass for a summer in which multiple lawn services had failed them, which was an unusual but mildly lucrative side gig. By then, people were shooting at each other with live firearms in the parking lot over child custody disputes while using Chuck E Cheese as a "neutral" place to transfer kids from one angry single parent to another.
Those incidents must have been frightening to witness, including the racism allegations. The only time I have been to Chuck E. Cheese's with my family was back in about 2006.
I live in Indianapolis!! Born and raised. My friend sister asked if I remember showbiz pizza….. no I don’t they all closed in the mid 90s…… I was born in the late 90s ma’am 😐
You should do the Clarksville Tn location! We had a rare beta stage that only had 5 or so in total! I have a bunch of childhood photos as well with the sky tubes and more :)
12:54 it is oversaturating but thats the problem both Showbiz and mainly Chuck E Cheese had. they expanded far too quickly, far too much before the long-term feasibility could be seen and often way too close to other restaurants. I could be mistaken but i think theres literally cased of Chuck E Cheeses and Showbiz pizzas opening literally right next to eachover.
Fantastic video...gives you a brief summary of each location old and new, as well as of the chains themselves. Simply put, you are a true Chuckstorian. If you ever get the chance one day, could you do a History of the Milwaukee CECs, please? (I know it began as a PTT and had some really cool memories there)
The current Fort Wayne location (The former Showbiz) is my local, or atleast the store i go to the most after Lima, OH closed. The PTT in Fort Wayne lasted from 1982-1984, although i don't think we have ANY information on it.
I love these videos so much and I've watched every single one of them!!! Could I also request a video about the Showbiz/CeC location in Springfield Missouri? I've never been to it, but I've driven past it a couple times and noticed it had the old cool Chuck logo and it apparently has a full band still! I'd love to know the history of it!
Chuck E. Cheese in Staten Island New York actually has those booths in the last store you mentioned and Staten Island got them in 2012 due to hurricane sandy the building flooded and they received phase 4 wall arts again even tho they got phase 4 in late 2007 but this time got those blue booths and had the wallarts in different spots! I highly recommend doing a history video on Staten Island New York since it has a one of a kind 1 stage!
Hey, can you do the Chuck E Cheese's I. Columbus, GA? It was one of the 3 Chuck E cheeses that had the Chuckes Make Believe Band (CU-1 Stage) and it was a former Showbiz pizza and it had a Blockbuster Video right next door and a Big Kmart right across the road. And Also, it was my local Chuck E cheese.
The Greenwood location is my local location and my dad went their a lot as a kid back when it was a Showbiz The location now is quite lackluster compared to others.
Nice job Nathan is good to see the first episode of season three I can’t wait to watch more episodes of season three I’ve watched every single episode of the history of series and also only GigaChad don’t like 2.0
Yes. I was told by employees at a CEC near me that it is actually corporate policy to destroy the animatronics when they get a 2.0 update. I don't know why, and neither did they, but it is so wrong. I saw on Twitter a while ago that Florida is getting their 2.0 updates right now. I dont know how many locations they have, but I cant wait to see them covered on here. Im sure there will be plenty more fights and crimes for you to talk about there.
Could you please try doing one for St. Louis, MO? Including for 2805 Target Drive (1981-2006), which began life as a ShowBiz Pizza Place from 1981-91, and then as Chuck E. Cheese's from 1991-2006.
can you do a history video on Houston? It might take two parts because there are 16 confirmed locations (to my knowledge) 4 of them used to be a showbiz pizza and 2 used to be a pizza time theathers memorial dr's location moved to hwy 6 and Antoine rd moved to Westheimer. 1960 with a studio c beta and Westlayan with the last 3 stage both closed in 2018. the two Pizza Time Theather's was one near a 80's Mcdonalds which is now a title max and the chuck e cheese turned into a barneys billard salon which recently closed which is also ion 1960 street in northwest Houston and the bots were sent to the Stafford chuck e cheese's. Now the other one has a more interesting story, after it had closed, it had became a knockoff with a retrofitted ptt c stage, after that place closed i belive it was demolished the address is 12056 east federal. There is footage of banjo billys that was just some information on the old locations that have closed. Edit the banjo Billy’s was not a former cec ptt but got bots from a former Houston cec ptt c stage after it closed and the location was not demolished and is now a eye doctor

Can you do a history video on the Chuck E. Cheese’s in arkansas??? Or make it into parts like Rodney pharam, north Little Rock and, Shakelford for 1 part and then the rest for another part???
I'm gonna probably correct some of these: The Target in the shopping center where the East Washington St SPP was, was in fact a former Ayr-Way and relocated down the road to Washington Square Mall in 1999. Greenwood also Expanded when they got Studio C and they actually had a typical SPP exterior when it was SPP actually. Greenwood also expanded when they got Phase 3 in 2000 and got the 2005 Remodel (Phase 4) in 2010. The old East Washington St CEC closed on December 19, 2011 not November 2011. 48:51 took place in 2022 not 2021

I'm honestly pretty upset inside about CEC just demolishing their poor animatronics like the Greenwood location video showing poor Studio C Alpha Chuck without the upper part of his body and getting thrown away like the animatronic costed no money at all to build. I think the animatronics are a vital part of the company and it's history, without them, CEC would just be a vanilla restaurant and arcade with nothing special about it. Also, I really love the Studio C animatronic since it was present in the Sunnymead location in Moreno Valley since I was a baby and seeing the Greenwood one being demolished with no love or care turns my heart and my blood black knowing the company doesn't care about their animatronics more and instead of putting them on display for historical purposes, they throw history in the trash. I wanted to cry after seeing the demolish video but I couldn't knowing CEC is still in operation and thankfully not all locations have fallen to the 2.0 beast.
