I knew this recording was special. Only now I look and see it’s by “Apollo’s Fire”. A top tier period orchestra which realizes the true spirit of the music.

Wow after all the years he still drops albums left and right. Hyped for this one
The audio quality is incredible, even of the solo singing. It lacks the drama present in von Karajan's. The choral tones very well harmonized, the despairing acclamations of the female voice on the other hand are very restrained. There is also a lot of order in the scansion, instead of the men frightened by the final judgement we appear to hear a company of the saved remembering the day of judgement. In general, the main character is one of placidness.
