Nice work. I'm amazed that the humbucker eliminated that much noise. I expected some reduction, but not near-total supression. Enjoy playing the heck out of that thing.
Thanks for visiting and your comment:-) After spending hours trying out various cap/resistor configurations around the vol/tone pots, the best I could achieve was a low pass filter which knocked out all the top end. So I ditched that approach and fitted the hot rail pickup...sorted!
Wait how did the pickup cause hiss from the LEDs? Couldn't u have used a noise gate or even a we'll placed cap or resistor? Def improvement. Just not a fan of hot rails pers. Could u have not used noiseless pickups? Tele style with a hot rail? Seems diff for sure
Hi, thanks for your comment. The E.M.I. emitted from the LED strip was induced into the coil of the original pickup; LED strips are notorious for generating E.M.I. I guess a noise gate/parametric EQ/well placed C/R components could have fixed this but I figured it was worth a try with the hot rail. Yes, noiseless could poss have sorted it too:-) All good suggestions, thanks. Hot rail on a Tele? ...diff agreed :-)
I was really impressed. And then you did THAT ending. Well played Sir.
