- A joik, luohti, vuolle, vuelie, leu'dd, or juoiggus is a traditional form of a song of the Sami people of the Nordic countries and Kola Peninsula of Russia. Originally, joik referred to only one of several Sami singing styles, but in English, the word is often used to refer to all types of traditional Sami singing.

😉 What i find interesting about Samies are the language(s), the beautiful clothes, and the fact that they were probably the 1rst people to live in Scandinavia before VIKINGS... WAOW and they live as wild and european... It makes me thinking... A VIKING THINKING... 😜My 1rst origin is from Germany...

I have Scottish and Irish ancestors from my father's lineage, and I really love Celtic culture. But it was like coming home to find out, that I have finish ancestors too. And than I saw that old picture of a forest Sami woman. It looked as if someone face swapped that picture with my Portrait. It was me just 100 Years earlier. All my live I thought too be ugly, grew up as an adopted child with not any love so ever. To discover that early ancestor of me gave me peace. And so does Sami Joik. It makes me cry in ease and joy.
No one is ugly outside, only inside. People who make feel others this way are only the proof of that. Kisses for you, you will find the peace that you surching for 😘

Mine are german, french, italian, spanish and turkish... including little particular "regions" or "lands" like Toscana, Sardinia, Euskal Herria, Balkan... I'm so proud of it... To know where my ancestors were from helps me to interest me about more other countries... i feel so free, now... i wish You, too... Samies are interesting about languages and beautiful colored clothes... They live as wild and european... They were probably the 1rst people to live in Scandinavia, before the VIKINGS...

I live in Canada, and just coming off the revelation that hundreds upon hundreds of unmarked graves stain the already tarnished reputation of the 'Residential Schools', hearing about similar (cultural) genocide in other countries of indigenous peoples is disheartening, while not surprising...

also just watched Sami Blood. I understand better why my great-grandparents distanced themselves from being identified with Sami culture. When they came to America they could live with far less discrimination and harassment.

Absolutely beautiful! It made me cry. I saved it to my warrior music playlist because it was so strong and let me feel like listening to a nordic warrior song ❤ Wow!
Sami aren't exactly "nordic", though they live in Scandinavia and northern Russia they are a distinct cultural & linguistic group, much older than the countries which have claimed the lands Sami inhabit. It's a bit like calling Aboriginal music "Australian folk music".
A joik also isn't a warrior's song, as the Sami aren't a warrior people, instead the song is adressed to a special place or someone :)
