It's just amazing that two foreigners can make Malaysian foods sound so tantalisingly yummy - your words, your expressions will unfailingly make me hungry when I watch your videos!
Hey Victor! So when we film, we don't ever show anything we don't like. We want to encourage and promote small food businesses, so if we don't like it, we don't say so. We just leave it out of the video. So, as a result, the foods that show up in the video are the dishes we like, and Malaysia has certainly given us the opportunity to show a lot of those. Which is why you see us enjoying ourselves so much, lol. The food here is so tasty and unique and delicious. We're drooling just thinking about it. It's going to be a shame when our tourist visa runs out, lol. Thanks so much for watching!
Hey Grif! You're going to love the food here. If there is one place you HAVE to eat though, it's the one coming up in this Saturday's video. Some of the best food we've had anywhere. Check it out and let us know!
Hi Yasin! Thanks so much 🙏❤ Next Saturday's video is also Penang and we're so excited to show everyone who we met and what we ate. It was truly special
Great video! You have me missing Penang and all the wonderful food there. I love your enthusiasm and the joy that’s so visible as you’re trying new foods.
Hahaha, it's hard to keep a straight face while eating all this delicious food! Are you from Penang? Where are you now and is there any Malaysian food there?
Hahah, we practice a lot. What is the eating equivalent of weight training? Like if you lift something heavy a few times every day for 2 weeks it begins to seem lighter, right? We do that, except with food, hahaha. That's dedication, right?
@@PureDetour Indeed it is; you've become seasoned world food connoisseurs. With generally good weather, walking 20k steps daily will help stave off buildup .... so eat away in our multi-diverse country that we so much love!!
We would love to! We didn't get to see enough of Malaysia (only the penninsula) on this trip, so we'd love to come back one day to the island and visit and try the laksa. It sounds delicious!
Hi! Thanks so much for the recommendations! Those will be a bit more difficult for ust to get to, we don't have transportation other than our feet or grab. Do you have any recommendations for good food in Georgetown?
This one place didn't, and it's our favourite place. But she makes it so good with the duck egg and spicy upon request. We have had some with cockles, and it's good. But we just like this lady Anne's the best. We actually have gone back a few times to her, we just went again today! She knows us now and our order, hahaha. I love when that happens, don't you?
I know! We made a mistake, lol. We had heard it was best in Penang so we wanted to wait to try it here. It's amazing and now we're sad we've been missing out all along, lol
I still can't get why Ipoh beats Penang for Assam Laksa in the latest video. Looks like I have to visit both cities back to back to verify. It's a tough verification job but someone has to do it.
It's not that Ipoh beats Penang, it's that the one Assam Laksa we tried in Ipoh was by far the best we had anywhere in Malaysia. And the people who made it were such nice people too! Showing us around Ipoh. If you get the chance to go eat their Assam Laksa (and you should, I know it's tough, but you can do it for science, lol) let us know what you think! You can see more of it here: th-cam.com/video/u2-D3QzfHIc/w-d-xo.html
Hahahahaha. Hi Vincent. This is Angela. The Char Siu definitely made Geoff's eyes roll the most, no doubt. But the Asam Laksa was my (Angela) fave. We were just talking tonight about our fave meals of all time while travelling and both of these made the list. Maybe one day we'll make a video of our best all time foods while travelling. You can bet that a lot of things we at in Malaysia will be high on that list! If you go to any of the places we recommended, please don't forget to let us know, we're dying to know what you think!
HI! We would love to and are thinking of visiting this summer. Have you visited or are you from Japan? Where so you recommend we go, and what should we see & eat?
Really really tasty. We've had rojak quite a few times though and for such a simple dish we find that it's either really really amazing, or really really bad, depending on who is making it. It's one of those dishes. Do you agree?
Hi. Not sure what you mean here. The food has been great in all of Malaysia. We have enjoyed Indian, Chinese and Malay food in Malaysia and made videos about all of the cuisines. What part do you disagree with?
@@PureDetour yes..don't assume a tourist main attraction are the best..some famous and look good because ur guide or viral say so..some viral food are not that good and local people won't go cos they know something that tourist didn't know.. don't fall apart and accept all your guide say and research by ur self..for better experience in Malaysia..
Hi. Thanks for the reply. The same is true of every place we have travelled to. You do have to dig to find the good local places. We usually do a guided food tour when we arrive in a city, just to get acquainted with some dishes. Then we talk to locals and do a lot of research. We've spent 4 months in Malaysia, made lots of food videos and eaten A LOT. Some of it was just ok, some of it was amazing, like anywhere I guess. Though we are very happy with the food in general in Malaysia. so much to choose from.

Looking at your expressions just make me drool n homesick!!!

I'm aghast how you both can foodgrab those yummiclious meals on the go, and not be gastronomically challenged (read: stomach ache). Salutttttttte! :-)

OMG I miss Penang food soooooo muchhhh
Penang food is amazing. It's delicious and so much variety and it's inexpensive. What more could you ask for?
Can't imagine when you guys go back home how much you're going to miss eating Malaysian food 😅😅
No matter where we go, we'll miss a lot of things about Malaysia. Not only is the food amazing, but the people have been so great too!
if you guys still in penang I would recommend to try nasi dalca khalis in Bayan Lepas and nasi kandar at Yusuf Restaurant in Relau.
Hi! Thanks so much for the recommendations! Those will be a bit more difficult for ust to get to, we don't have transportation other than our feet or grab. Do you have any recommendations for good food in Georgetown?
Do they put cockles in the char kuey tiaw?

@Xarifa Lee I'm certain it's amazing! But Jason fed us too much already! 🤣
Watching this vlog makes me want to go back to Penang!
Hahaha, we just left and we already want to go back, hahah
Try Nasi ambeng at Malay restaurant
Thanks for the recommendation. What is Nasi ambeng? Is it like Nasi Campur?
Guys… don’t forget the Lemak Laksa
Omg, we haven't tried this. Where should we try it?
You like nutmeg? Penang sells pickled nutmeg to eat as snacks
I've seen that, haven't tried yet. Will pick some up next time i see it because it looks good
Asam laksa
I've decided, Asam laksa is my absolute favourite. Geoff makes fun of me because I order it every time. Is there a dish that you always order?
So yummy 🤤🤤
Right? We're 100% in food heaven. What's you're favourite dish here? We want to try them all
@@PureDetour l melaka people sorry me don't where to eat any food bro and sister 😅
You need to drink water as it is dry. Hiong peng.
You're right. they are very tasty, but very dry. You definitely need some water to wash it down
I instantly started salivating as soon as I saw that curry mee 🤤
I'm going to have to try to make some of those drinks - they look delicious!
Hi! I love curry mee too, yum. And yes, the drinks are so interesting and different here, though they really don't hold back on the sugar here!
Enjoy yourself bro
Thanks so much man.
Wait a second! You guys avoided Char Kway Teow?? How is that even possible ?!? 🤣

If me order kuay tiaw i will request kuay tiaw no spicy..all food i request no prawn and no chilli.🤭🤭
No prawn, no chili? We went and had char kway teow again today because this lovely lady Anne makes the best. And she makes it extra spicy for us
Cendol
Mmmmmm, cendol is so perfect on a hot day. And Malaysia has many hot days, lol
