For separation anxiety..tv on in one room...soft piano music in another..plenty of chew toys..and a blanket or sweatshirt that smells like you is very comforting to them.😊

Omg it makes me so sad to hear them crying for their mom and dad. This is what it's all about LOVE. I believe that animals were created for us to love and in return we would be loved. It's a wonderful thing to be loved by a pet!! My baby shows me how much she loves me every day.

Xanti is very intelligent and a great survivor, very proud of this lovely puppy.

I cannot bear to leave my dogs for more than an hour because they are unglued when I get home. Just like Xanti & Yumi were when you were gone. I am retired so they spend all day, every day with me, and they really feel it when I’m not there. Even if my partner is home, they still look for me. Unfortunately, I haven’t found a cure for it, so I have nothing to offer you. All I can say is don’t leave them if you don’t have to. When you get a breed that is known to suffer with separation anxiety, you have to be prepared to deal with it and the guilt when you do have to leave them. Thanks for your videos. I thoroughly enjoy them.
Hopefully, you have the type of dogs that you can take places? Car rides, certain restaurants, etc. That can help to ease their anxiety.
Das hat nichts mit Malteser - Hund zu tun !
JEDER Hund ist nicht gerne 6 bis 10 Stunden oder wie lange auch immer, alleine !
Man muss von ANFANG schauen, wenn sie klein sind also noch WELPEN, dass sie immer wieder mal 5 Minuten alleine gelassen werden, dann immer wieder die Zeit steigern. . . bis mal 10 Minuten 15 Minuten eine Stunde maximal, 4 bis
5 finde ich . . . .
Klar sollte man einen Hund mal allein lassen können.
Ich persönlich finde alles, was darüber ist also über den 5 Stunden einfach generell nicht zumutbar für einen Hund ! ! !
Wenn man ein Haustier (Hund) haltet.
DA auch ein Hund mindestens 17 Stunden am Tag Ruhe, Schlaf, dösen, usw. braucht - es ist auch wichtig, dass er zu seinen Ruhephasen kommt !
Und klar, das größte Problem ist leider auch mit unter unsere Vermenschlichung also Menschen und von Hand gemacht aber es ist wunderschön zu sehen wie liebevoll ihr sonst mit euren Tieren umgeht das ist Übung und egal welcher Hunderasse es betrifft man kann das antrainieren wie gesagt ich finde alles was über 5 Stunden ist ist zu viel aber ich finde schon dass man mal zwei bis fünf Stunden einen Hund alleine lassen sollte können.
Ich habe vor zwei Jahren meine kleine Hündin einschläfern lassen müssen und habe jetzt seit zwei Jahren eine Malteser Hündin eine komplett andere Rasse da ich einen Pudel zuvor hatte und auch nur mit Pudel Erfahrung hatte generell schon von klein an Malteser sind deutlich agiler temperamentvoller und auch selbstbewusster beispielsweise als meine Pudelhündin zuvor und ich habe jetzt von Anfang an als meine Kleine Malteserhündin Baby war also sprich ca. mit 7Wochen immer wieder angefangen den Raum *wortlos* zu verlassen und dann wieder wortlos zu kommen so dass, es von Anfang an ganz normal ist, dass man mal ein paar Minuten oder ein paar Stunden weg ist - diese Zeit sollte man nach und nach langsam steigern. . . !

Best to build up the time they're left alone. Perhaps just go out the door and come straight back in. Do this a few times building up from 2 seconds to one minute, 2 minutes, 5, 10 etc so they learn that you will always return. My doggie doesn't settle much when alone but she is much better than when I got her 2 years ago. Xanti and Yumi are lucky because they haven't had to be alone, but it is good to train them as no one knows what the future might hold. Doggie crying is the worst sound, but all was happy when you returned 😚

Made me sad
My two grandchildren aged 5 and 6 have been staying with me for a while now and Blondie my three month old maltese loves them to bits.
Recently they went to stay at their Dad's for a week and poor little Blondie just wasn't happy. She wouldn't eat or play and she spent most of the time under my bed sleeping on their pillows.
It took me a few days to realise what was wrong and then my heart just melted so I put their blankets in her bed which she loved.

Thankfully I trained my Maltese to rest and relax when I'm not home. He used to do this when I went out but now he just sleeps by the door.

Our Louis is with us 24/7. I have MS and my husband is my carer so we are all together all the time. If we need to go somewhere without him our friends/neighbours look after him. He does settle with them and they love him to bits, but nothing beats Mummy and Daddy and he is so happy when we return. It is Louis' 5th birthday today, we bought him a pet stroller and two Mickey Mouse cushions to make the stroller more padded and comfortable. We do spoil him but he gives us so much in return. We just love the Maltese breed. Love from Louis to Xanti & Yumi. 🐕🐕🐕xxx
We have a stroller for our little Maltese also, she loves to go for rides in it and we had a rubbery little license plate done with her name on it! Best breed ever.

24 hrs is too long. Xanti and yumi little bit scared and worried where mum and dad go, Xanti and yumi miss mum and dad very much. 💖💖👋
For Kiwi and LilBoy, I always put the same Lassie shows on autoplay on the computer as I get ready to leave on the bike. That way they know when they hear Lassie being called as I get the bike out the door they are going to be alone for a while. I can be getting ready to leave for a couple hours and the bike can be at the door, but when they see me go to the computer and they hear "Lassie" then they jump on the couch and lay down together watching me finally leave. It's the only time I play Lassie.
Oh my word never a dull moment with these two. Beauties.

I had to go on a work trip for 5 days. My dog stayed with my mother. They had spent time together before. She knew the house and routine. On Thursday night my pup 🐶 was so depressed she would not walk and lay on the kitchen floor. My mom was extremely worried and called me 5 hours away. I had to talk to my pup over the phone. She as great after that. On Friday just before I arrived to my mom’s my pup got to barking and my mom took her outside. While outside I turned onto mom’s street. Skipper heard the car and went to pulling the leash to the location I would park. I cried when Skipper greeted me. Skipper was a Parson Russell Terrier

I think if you keep practicing this they will get much better. Like you said dogs take patience. And we love our furry friends but sometimes the need to understand we need to be away a bit. You two are great doggy parents.

We own an autocaravana and as retired people can travel for a couple of mths. Our 2 dogs maltese and yorkshire are always with us. When we go to the supermarket the barking as we leave is dreadful. By the time we get back theres no sign of any faces. All is quiet. So we call their names and up pops 2 faces. Sorry we woke you boys. At home we leave the radio on for them. The neighbour says that they bark when we first leave and then settle down.

My pups were upset just listening to the video! Maltese and Maltipoo. I took our Maltipoo to work with me every day pre-COVID and now she's the worst when it comes to me leaving her.

To stay alone you have to train this. You start in very small steps. First time leave the House, count slowly to 5 and come back. This Is How the Dogs noticed that if someone leaves, he will come back.
If you know that the dogs are relaxed you can increase the period of time, but please do not make the mistake and take directly a long time. Always make short steps. it takes patience but the dogs can learn to stay alone sometimes. in the Same way you Train the Caregiver to stay away so the Dogs Dedicated dem South to the People Prozent Point

For me personally it was so hard,the few moments.They really had a bed experience. …
It was sad for us to watch too, but we had to leave them with family. We knew they are well taken care of which is always a relief.

They are not "alone" they are with your family. Perhaps they need to spend more time with them so they do not react this way. Our Cava-Tzu will follow whoever is leaving to door and wait a bit but with others in the house she will come back to her spots. She is also gotten used to her crate where she will go in on her own when she wants alone time. She is now 8 months old. She only really makes crying sounds when she tries to find a place to hide her treats.

My puppy Airi is a month younger than Xanti. She like to be with me and my mom . We are with her. 24 hs. When I go out with my mom , my dad was with her but she waited by the door for my return. She not used to be alone yet. She follow me anywhere in the house.

so sad for Xanti and Yumi but know you puppy parents love them so much and sometimes you need to be gone for a day or so.
maltese love toys, not the biting or the one that gives a treat on every correct guessing. toys live balls, things with different shape and even lights. it takes from 3-4 days for a maltese to accept a person and falling in love because of their defining personality... taking to them and touching them from a standing or squat to their position works better than hugging a small dog and holding them like babies in the training process. you should only pick your maltese dog from the floor if is part transporting or is part of the grooming; if is a separate event to only pet them, both physically and timing should be considered for the dog not to disassociate his discipline while learning. a trained dog accounts for a happier dog. and small in dog doesn't exactly translate to lapdog! lovely creatures, if you separate from them for several hours, open for them always new toys. cheers!

I think It is important to work on it 🙏💪. To repeat it a lot of times. At first 5 min and then more time and for many days. So they will learn that you come back home and they will not suffer if you need to go out for an urgence or travel or go out with friends... It is better for them to get use to It. Thank you
Yikes. 24 hours emotional torture. As we are connected to our arms and legs, they are connected to their caregiver. Emotional pain, cardiac stress, can be mitagated to an extent with building up the time alone. When they are seniors and eventually elderly, they will have specific needs 24/7. I have a 14 and a 15 year old. Fortunately, I am retired, so can give them the care they want and need
I had to be hospitalized for 2 weeks and my maltese Loki had to be boarded ,when we came home now he doesn't let me out of his sight , I bought him a THUNDERSHIRT it helped him maybe you could try one

I plan on getting a puppy Maltese in the few months. I am a single older lady who doesn't work. I will be spending all my time with my new baby but I am worried about times I may have to go to the store or appointments. What are suggestions to help the puppies and parents adjust to leaving them alone?
I try and shop where dogs are allowed. I even dine out in dog friendly restaurants since we got our Maltese Honey 13 months ago . We normally went cruising and all inclusive Holidays abroad but had to stop them as it is impossible to do this from Scotland with a dog.
At the moment we are looking at dog friendly hotel in Scotland and they seem to be a great variety.

Parents took care of him. The Trick was, my Mum had to pick him up
or take him out of our car.
He was a good boy for the time he has to stay there. No wining.
If we would have tropped him up there he would have cried for hours.

Jesus people, dogs will get used to changes. When i used to go to work, my dogs didn't even lift their heads in the mornings to look at me because they knew i was leaving and would be gone for however long it was. Sure, it might be a little noisy in the beginning but they get used to it and life moves on.

We were so sad that we had to leave them with our family for such a long time, but there was no other way unfortunately. We however knew they will be well taken care of.
hm, the behaviour in the end makes me not so happy: I think he bullies the other one (maybe from stess?) I would not allow that behaviour to drag the other one who is laying on the ground on the fur of the most vulnerable spot of the neck. Please dont allow him to do that one second, tell him that its wrong. Otherwise your other dog could get harmed or become sick from stress in the long run.

Well they need not cry if you had thought ahead don't get a dog if you have to leave them home while you work or what ever it is you need to do .People get dogs because ?? Then have lots of other things they have to do ..very unthoughtfull people
We do not leave them at home alone, this was an exception and so we left them with family. They were very well taken care of.
24 hours is a long time, they don’t deserve this, hire a baby sitter you trust or ask a trusted friend, family member to look after them....
They were in fact with our family and were well taken care of. They however missed us still.
Alone 24 hrs? Who feeds them, take them out for potty?
We actually mention it in the video that they were with our family, who took care of them very well.

Hello, it is not an experiment. We had to leave them with family in order to attend an urgent matter. They were quite well taken care of. They missed us, but otherwise did not have lack of food, snacks, water, play time etc.
