What an incredible panel and discussion. I don't know how any Star Trek fan xould be mad about the content of this panel. Star Trek, all the way since TOS, has always been political and about inclusion. Not only that, it has NEVER been subtle about it. Go watch the TOS episode Let That Be Your Last Battlefield if you have any delusions that Star Trek somehow used to be subtle about its messaging. Or watch Kirk tell a crewman that bigotry has no place on the bridge.
Again, fantastic panel and discussion. 🖖🏻

There was an episode of Enterprise in which they came upon a planet of ppl that was dying of a terminal disease. Another species on that planet had an antibody that could save them but were on the verge of a mental revolution, and if left alone would rise to become the dominant species on the planet within 1000 years. Dr. Phlox made the cure, but in the end, Archer decided not to share its existence as well as warp drive with the dying ppl.
Star Trek belt with issues other that just space battles. It truly makes you look at thing objectively.

    • @mattybrunolucaszeneresalas9072

The issue comes from a “discrimination” that is recognising a difference, based in traits that we at this time shouldn’t even be concerned about. The normalisation process is halted when people decide what is diverse and what isn’t. What “inclusive” really means and all that. We know not everyone out there has it normalised but we should lead by example.
Regardless of its plans and goals there was nothing “incredible” about it

It’s education folks. I live in a state where education is no 48 and sports is number 1 in the schools. I get shunned for saying it but I wholeheartedly believe that we need to separate sports from school and make education the quintessential reason for schools to exist.

This was so great to watch. I get it, some people hate that they talked about politics so much - but that's the whole point of this event I would imagine, to discuss this sort of stuff and how it effects certain communities. Also, I think this is the first time I heard Kate Mulgrew curse (sort of, she cut herself off at the end lol) but Garret Wang finished it for her :D

I don't plan to vote and I have the freedom not to. I want to do things that I feel actually make a difference and voting is not one of them, not just because my vote likely won't becthe deciding vote but because I probably agree and disagree on some views that each candidate holds. And whoever wins it won't change the fact that the government is disorganized.
Vote if you want to vote, and encourage people to vote all you want, but also do things that will make a tangible difference in the world (not that you don't do that).

I fail to see how being attracted to the same gender has anything to do with art, music and literary contribution. And I also fail to see how it would change any benefits. 13:30 I truly disagree that it took an arm and a leg to get a female captain. There were already female captain characters as far back as Kirk’s time.
17:20 paran0ia Madame captain? “exclusively as a woman” yeah right. I actually found the hair thing as an evolution of the character
31:36 how so? 31:43 sure Jan
33:10 which is what? Whatever that means?
33:42 Burger King: am I a joke to you? 34:24 I don’t think that’s how that works. 36:20 yeah I’m not sure how making it “intentional“ makes it better? Like we can talk about actors with a handicap getting to be actors like the rest of us. But whether an actor dates the same gender or not, it’s a material. And if people are making that intentional, that sounds like more like affirmative action. A disabled person that can’t walk can’t “act” abled. But they deserve equal opportunities to be actors. However, as for actors who date the same gender or both, it’s irrelevant for the reason of being hired. 36:38 and don’t get me started on trans. But as far as I can recall, there hasn’t been any trans actors or characters yet. But I guess you’re talking about in general. Wait, no you’re talking about Star Trek. Star Trek didn’t talk about these things. It was merely about not picking and choosing actors based on colour or anything else. 36:34 And I think you’re praising too much mediocre minutiae.

When you put religion behind it, it allows for physical abuse to start in the name of Jesus. Now, you wouldnt hurt a person but when they do get hurt by others that have your school of thought, then, while you may still weep, will accept that it ensures you religious proclamations.
