Great video, thanks for sharing - you deserve more subs. One thing I found was around the 11:30 mark, I believe the HDMI Cable should have been called the 'HDMI to Micro HDMI cable' correct? I am looking at the port on the R5C and I believe the 'Mini HDMI' is not the correct term - I believe it should be called the 'Micro HDMI'. Your thoughts? Thanks again for a great video
Hey man! Sick rig, looks amazing! Have you ever had any issues with using ef glass on the r5c? I have the exact setup as you, the r5c and the sigma 50mm, but for whatever reason, the lens with the adapter sometimes seems to not be connected properly. The f stop isn't detected and it won't focus and I can't shoot. When this happens it also takes anywhere from 20-40 seconds to turn the camera off/on and switch between modes. This happens from time to time and it's super frustrating. My guess is that it's the adapter that's the problem. Just wanted to hear if you've had any similar issues.
Hey man, Thank for the comment! So I have experienced the same issue with a third party EF-RF adapter, the Viltrox version, and I had to deal with it the same. Now I run with the Canon adapter and it is fantastic. Haven't had a single issue with it. I have the basic Canon one and it cost $100. I hope this answers your question!
@@Gabestoll gotcha! I also have the canon version, but for some reason it doesn't work with my sigma lenses (18-35 and 50mm). I ordered a sigma doc yesterday to try and update the lenses, so we'll see if that solves the problem cause I really want to be able to use those lenses on the r5c, they are gold. Love the vids brother, keep it up!
The R5C sensor does not have enough dynamic range, which is why Canon is not making CLOG2 available for the R5 and R5C. If you were to get CLOG2, all you would have is more noise in the shadows. This is actually something, that was extensively discussed with Canon engineers in interviews during the launch. Yes, Sony has added SLOG3 to most of their cameras, but that was more a marketing decision and not a technical decision. You need 16+ stops of dynamic range for CLOG2. The R5C has 14 stops of range. Hence ... no CLOG2 !!
@@ksharky888No. That is a misconception. What you mean, is that Davinci defaults to CLOG2 for the RAW footage out of the Canon EOS R5 C. It still is CLOG3. You're just adding more noise in the shadows, if you pick CLOG2 in Davinci. That one was long debunked. You might want to watch Gerald Undones video the the R5 C. The R5 C has 1 more stop of DR than the R5 . That's 13 stops of dynamic range for the R5, 14 stops for the R5 C. Those figures are not official, but confirmed by a german Canon engineer in an interview during the launch. Not enough DR for CLOG2.
If you’re wanting a solid camera for filming doc style videos I would go with the FX3. I’m not totally familiar with the FX3 being a Canon guy, but I have some friends who swear by it and it produces great quality videos. The R6 mk 2 is also a great hybrid camera, but can’t fully compete with the FX3 in the video game.
Important question about the Mattebox: Can I screw any filter with sizes up to 95mm to the Mattebox or is it dependant on the size of my lenses filter thread? So if my lens is 77mm, do I have to attach a 77mm VND or can I get away with using 82mm and 95mm VND?
I like the rig. I copied it a lot actually. I am having problems with the dummy battery though. When I hook it up, it seems like it does not have enough juice for the mic, hdmi out etc...
Hi, the 8k 60fps works with that dummy battery??? Because I know that some works and other don't. They powered they camera but don't gave the power for the 8k 60 Thanks
Hey, I forgot to cover that question. So personally I don't shoot in 8K, it's overkill for me. I don't believe the one I showed in to video works with 8K, but I have since gone to the SmallRig one and that does work. Hope this helps!
I didn't even think of that... I bought the cheaper small rig monitor mount. I saw the other one had the Arri mount but I hadn't watched enough videos to understand yet...
Love the video and your video rig setup! I usually love the Sigma Art line but that 24-70mm they made just had wayyyyy too much focus breathing for me. I rented that lens and tried to shoot one session, ended up leaving it in my bag due to how much focus breathing it kept doing. I love their prime lenses though.
I am debating between Sigma 24-70 with EOSR adapter vs Canon RF 24 - 70 for Canon R5C. How comparable is Sigma to RF? I am hearing that autofocus may not work in Video mode in Canon R5C?
Auto focus with the Sigma lenses works for me on the R5C! Not as fast and the Canon RF glass, but still fast. You can also control your auto focusing speed on the R5C as well which I love!
One of the reasons I opted for the Ninja v Plus was the preamps for audio. Having the monitor record your audio it comes out way cleaner. The preamps in the Canon are not too great. Also you are able to record to SSD so you do not have to keep buying expensive memory cards like CF Express type b. I spent $200 for $128 GB. I have a 1 TB Samsung SSD I wasn't using that I'm shocking and using for my ninja. Ninja was on sale with battery 599. I'm going to give you a channel a subscribe and follow you along your journey. Thanks for the content.
I love my R5C too. The batteries Canon recommends are the LPE6NH which are so much better than the LPE6. I have had the external ready and haven’t had to use yet. You sold me on the matte box, dji, and focus puller. I have the rest. As for the monitor, I’m afraid to lose my ability to touch screen for focus, which seems to bother no one but me so I’m looking for any feedback on that because maybe I’m misinformed? My camera is new and not thoroughly put through the test. Just subscribed, thx!
Thanks for the sub! Yeah even with the "Canon" batteries, you don't have long battery life while recoding in 4k. I have found myself ditching the monitor if i don't need it. Sometimes it gets clunky with the monitor. But it is nice to have that larger screen sometimes.
Hey, sorry am new to your channel 😊. Can I use the same set for the canon R5? I just want to be sure before I click the pay botton on my Amazon. Great video illustration btw 🫡

Great camera set up! I love it too! Cheap and effective! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for watching! Definitely a very capable camera that doesn't break the bank!
Hi. Thanks for your vid. Tell us how works that dummy please. This is standard power, with limitation on RAW recording etc?
It's standard power. I haven’t had any issues with it whatsoever!
Sweet set up! I run the R5C rigged out as well and an R6 as B /gimbal cam. Love it!
Nice man! Solid setup for sure! 🤙🏻
Me too! R6 doesn’t really need a gimbal.
How are you liking tyour AB cam setup? I'm about to do the same as you. R5C A cam, R6 Bcam
@@a-mediastudio7219 so far so good but I would go R6 mark ii. Want to upgrade the R6 to the mark ii
About to get an R5C, extremely helpful video for what I might want to deck it out with!

Really good I learnt a lot and love this content. I should get this camera soon and I will follow your step.. thanks for this video

r5c has clog 2 when shooting in raw, so it must have more DR than what was previously thought

Canon says the stabilization works in tandem with the RF lens. How is the stabilization with Sigma Art Lens and EF lens that have OIS capabilties?
With the Sigma 24-70 Ef the stabilization works great. It's not as good as the Canon RF glass, but still great.
This was interesting!
My set up is the body and a battery grip! Works great

I got the same one and exchanged the other bad one and it looks like my issue is fixed thanks.@@Gabestoll
Do you have an easy solution for 16:9 to 9:16 format- in terms of a handle that either quickly releases or rotates..
What did you you to attach the rails and small rig piece to the bottom of the camera
Do you find need the focus pull? I just bought the R5C and starting to rig it out
Hey, How do you use both the regular mic and the lavalier mic at the same time??
So the Deity shotgun mic allows for an additional "input jack" so you can record two separate audio tracks. It's pretty darn cool!
