How do you all like playing as the Skipper? Agree/disagree with anything suggested in the video? How else can the mode be improved upon? There were 2 more suggestions I considered including in the video but I wanted to keep it brief... 1) Adding an action button such as E on the keyboard for interacting with ladders and opening/closing bulkheads and hatches etc. I think it would help make moving around the boat a little easier rather than exclusively left clicking on everything. 2) The ability to request reports. I just think it would be cool to be able to order a damage report after surviving a depth charge attack. After the crew does a quick assessment a sailor could then bring you the information or you could maybe find it on your desk by your bunk. From there you could decide what needs priority in fixing/repairing.
I think the crew should let the skipper always pass since he is higher up in rank. What I dont like in the game is when two crew member meet somewhere, and they just teleport.
Nice! Yes I would think that will be addressed eventually. I have seen people mention doing your method as a workaround in the meantime and it does work! One post I came across even recommended setting up a blank officer shift and then assigning whatever task you are doing to that shift, while clearing his schedule so he won't be off duty. I haven't tried that one (not even sure I understand how to) but apparently that keeps him in place as well.
I agree with voicecommands when climbing ladders or bulkheads, i mean, i am the captain after all. Also i would like be able to asign sailors to me(like with deckgunaction) without changing to the map.
There are actually 2 additional ways to assign sailors to yourself besides using the map view! You can either just left click on a sailor or hold the Tab key and use the little add or subtract sailor buttons on the bottom left of the screen where your name and energy meter are found.
......I might be too old (.....god I'm so old) - but I STILL dont know what the difference is between skipper mode and first person mode is.....BUT (!) - I do feel like this game is a proper spiritual successor to SH3 (just with more micromanagement)
I think they are pretty much the same but with one big difference. In First Person mode you can switch back and fourth between controlling the skipper and any of the other officers whenever you wish. Whereas Play As Skipper mode only allows for controlling the skipper himself and that's it.

@@vesszopontpont6335 That's another good point about crew interaction with the teleporting. I fully agree it'd be nice if they didn't do that as well.
On second video I saw I subscribe, nice work!
Awesome thanks I appreciate it!
A trick I do for the wondering skipper is getting on the UZO. He wont move if he is manning a station
Thanks yeah that's a good work around!
Now we just need one for barotrauma
(very shocked and scared staring at you) I see that you are no stranger to pain........(pours a double whiskey to deal with your statement)
Why isn't it in the game anymore? I only got to try it once before the game kept crashing after loading.
That's weird...I just checked and I was able to quickly test start a new game of Play As Skipper so for me at least it's still in the game.
@@RoboCharged I see it now must of been a mod interfering it's in perspective.
I play only in Skipper mode and park him/me at the TDC, periscope or map to stop wandering off. But I'm sure they will fix that.

I have just tested this, thank you, so much easier@@RoboCharged

Add the ability to do what the USS CODs skipper did. Sleep in the conning tower. Haha
Haha I like it! And maybe even have a crewman bring him a pair of striped PJs!
