What can I say? What a constellation of players put together by a promoter to jam. The concept is so deep, but yet these masters managed to make it work . Marc Johnson is a little too loud, but that's the way it was in those days
Je crois à mes oreilles que Pepper Adams est techniquement le meilleur baryton du Jazz mais Gerry Mulligan par son approche cool a la plus large audience.
Again, rhythm section are not together and Mark does not know the changes to that tune making it hard for Pepper. A little pre-gig discussion would have helped the performance a lot.
Adams is always playing behind the beat (playing across the feeling as he calls that himself) but here it doesn't work because of the timing of Bill Evans and even more the very busy playing of Philly JJ. Marc Johnson is more or less keeping things together.
Many thanks for this and other of your treasures Danno featuring Pepper Adams and other super stars! Kudos Sir!
Thank you for this. I am forever in debt to Bill Evans

Marc rushing-time sucks!
Saved by Marc Johnson and Philly Joe's solo. Pepper a bit overwhelmed.
Yes - seemed to have just a bit of difficulty with the changes, not the tempo.
This is an old timey tune with few changes. Maybe you never played it. Every one on this bandstand had heard & played it many times.
I’ll tell you what I think it sounds like. They’re outside and too far apart and can’t hear each other.
Marc and Philly lose each other too the whole way.
