New Mexico ATV Trail Riding | Slot Canyon & Old Homestead

- New Mexico has some awesome canyon, mountains, and desert landscape to explore. I head into Six Mile Canyon located in the Magdalena Mountains near the town of Magdalena. The farther I got into the canyon a small slot canyon was discovered which was just wide enough to get my Polaris Sportsman 570 through. On this ATV trail ride I also discover an old homestead. Homesteads can be often found in remote areas of New Mexico.

That’s a real super cool trail you need to get a posse together one of these times
I would love to form a riding group to tackle some trails. I’ll have to work on organizing a ride. I appreciate you watching buddy. Take care and enjoy.
Excellent video ManzanoMan!
You rode in some very nice scenery, plus you did a great job of having narration in your video. That adds another highly appreciative dimension.
Thanks for watching the video. I am glad you enjoyed the narration of the video along the way.
That 6 miles canyon is gorgeous, what a find. Wanna go, gotta go! Today my wife and I took her quads on our new trailer's maiden voyage. We rode the jeep trails around Cedro Peak. Rocky and adventurous!
The canyon is absolutely worth visiting. I want to get back there and explore some more. I have a feeling there might be an old mine hidden somewhere back there.
That is great you guys got out and went to Cedro Peak. I would love to ride my ATV around there and see what the trails have to offer. I am sure the views are nice on trail. I hope you both had fun.
@@ManzanoManATVAdventures it was fun. As with any wooded area, we're always looking for that elusive distant view LOL, and there are some. The atv trails in Cedro are basically jeep trails (a combo of very rugged rocky steps, dried out deep ruts, and water mud holes). The rocky areas can all be accomplished with care and common sense. Some parts you might have to "cheat" by building a little rock ramp if the quad doesn't have 4x4 but that's part of common sense. It was a blast 😃
Good to know and thanks for the information. Common sense is our greatest tool in the outdoors.
Id love to follow behind you at places with radios, you would be the best riding buddy ever. Looked like a fun adventure
Thanks buddy. It would be cool to have connected radios to ride and talk on trail. Have a Happy Thanksgiving. Take care.
Great video, and beautiful place!👍🏻
Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.
Beautiful place, Thanks for sharing ...Thumbs up!
Many thanks! I appreciate you stopping by.
Nice video buddy, loved the terrain, just a little bit rockie, thanks
Thanks for watching bud.
The Box looks great fun! Nice video, Six Mile Canyon looks stunning 👍🏻
Jaq Travel - 360 ̊ Drone Adventures it was pretty awesome country to ride in. Thanks for watching😃.
I remember Magdelena running out of water a few years back. To the point of a state-of-emergency. That was crazy.
That was wild. I remember that happening also. I am glad that problem was resolved for them. But the scary thing I suppose is this could happen again in the future. I hope not. Magdalena is a a neat historical town. Thanks for watching.
That’s cool that you can just get out on the atv and explore 👍👍
It is a lot of fun to get out and explore on a atv. I appreciate you stopping by.
New subscriber here. Just started watching your vids and this is definitely my favorite so far! What an epic ride, and that slot canyon was so cool. Seems like you could ride forever out there in New Mexico.
Awesome! Thank you and sorry for getting to you late on the comment. New Mexico has a lot of country we can ride through and it all varies in look, terrain, and feel on the trail. I have been wanting to get back to this area and set up a camp trip and explore some more. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.
@@ManzanoManATVAdventures No worries. Thanks!
Wow Rueben, what a great video. I can’t believe you made it all the way through that skinny gulch! I really like hearing all your thoughts and your narration as you bring us all along on your adventures! Thank you!
That was a fun gulch to ride through. It was just wide enough to squeeze through and continue up the canyon a little more. I am glad you enjoy the narration. Thanks for watching and take care.
Awesome ride and very cool slot Canyon.
This was a super cool slot canyon that I had no idea was even out there. I had such an awesome time back there that I would love to camp somewhere in the canyon. I appreciate you watching and commenting.
That was a great ride along. I kept waiting for you to find a cool camping spot on the other side of the slot canyon.
I would love to camp back in there on the other side of the slot canyon. There are great spots to set up a tent and enjoy an evening. I will have to make it happen and revisit the area. Thanks for watching bud.
I watch all your older videos when I'm eating breakfast to give you support ☺️
And guess what, I need to go out snow plowing again today. My plan was going flying with my drone 😕
I appreciate it my friend. I have gone back and watched many off your videos as well. I have not commented, but I enjoy watching your channel. Thanks again for your support. I will be catching up on your last 2 videos right now. I hope you had a nice day flying your drone!
Looks like a cool place to go explore today! Thanks for your videos and the insight. We have checked out a few of your places now and love to explore out there just like you!
Thanks buddy. I am glad my videos have helped you check out some new places. I hope you made it out there and enjoyed your day. Have a great week ahead. Take care and thanks for your support.
Nice ATV ride Ruben 👍 Stay well my friend.
Hike2BHuman thanks buddy. It’s fun to change up the pace and get on the quad. You stay safe as well buddy. Take care.
Wow! I love it around Magdelena. There's some property out there for sell but it's "too" affordable. Makes me wonder why 🤔
That is strange that the property is so cheap up there. Maybe because the utilities are outrageous to have installed? But to own land there would be breathtaking.
That is some sweet terrain! I really enjoyed the little rockcrawl in that slot canyon. It's very cool.
I loved that little crawl through the slot canyon. The views all around were awesome as well.
Another great video my friend keep up the good work !!!
Thanks, will do! I appreciate you stopping by.
I really enjoy your videos
Thanks man.

I really like your outlook on life getting out and enjoying nature.
And your respect for the land leaving the way you find it or better.
Nothing more depressing than seeing people leaving their trash in mountains and tearing up the land.
Keep it up buddy
Great video, my kinda adventure. New sub here
Thanks for subbing! I appreciate it.
New to channel. Great video.Love NM. Would love to get back there and do some atv time but too old now.
Thanks and welcome. New Mexico is very beautiful and I am happy to share my experiences with you. I wish you could get out there. Take care.
Both my shoulders are ruined from failed rotator cuff surgeries. I can't operate anything with handlebars, so I bought a CFMoto Zforce 800 Trail UTV - 50" wide. It can go anywhere an ATV can, and more comfortable. 😊 This 97 year old youngster is driving a Polaris RZR! Skip the annoying 45 second intro. th-cam.com/video/lry-luPk1gA/w-d-xo.html
Great ride and video, good narrating. We will put this trail on our to do list when we hit New Mexico.
Thanks for providing me feedback. I am glad you enjoyed the narrating. It is a beautiful area to visit and check out. The canyon goes back in a long ways.
Okay enjoy watching your videos very much the scenery out in New Mexico is amazing and I am looking forward to when I can come out there in a couple of months and start camping and riding in the mountains as well the one thing I've noticed that whenever you cook a steak you always seem to say it's cooked a little well but I've also noticed that you always have a beer in your hand which I have no problem with is I'm a scotch drinker it's just an analogy another thing is I've been watching another show called 411 seems like there's quite a few missing persons that come up in some of the Santa Fe area is there anything to that or should I be concerned as I will be out there just my wife and I and my glock
Hey bud. New Mexico has awesome scenery to checkout. I love to camp and cook outdoors. My steaks end up tasting great but I get distracted sometimes and leave them on longer LOL. But scotch would be great company in the outdoors. I would not be concerned about the missing people in the Santa Fe National forest. I’ve camped in the Santa Fe National forest many times and I have never felt afraid or threatened. But do carry a glock or what ever else for your protection. The 411 is an interesting show and one of the missing people actually happens to be my wife’s uncles friend. He was the hunter found dead in the water. Family and friends think he became disoriented due to cold weather that evening and lost his bearings. He was found in the Pecos River. This area has developed its own name called the Pecos Triangle. Google The Pecos Triangle if your curious.
Great video. Thanks for sharing your trip with us. Great exploration! I assume you have a GPS by now. If not, let me know.
Hey bud. I am glad you enjoyed the video. I don’t own a GPS actually. What I am operating with now is an App called GaiaGPS. It works great just like a handheld GPS. I am sure there are advantages of having a GPS over the App. But for what the App is, I think it’s a great tool. Thanks for watching.
Correction: No cellular plan!
@@nathanbuck929 no cellular plan needed and it doesn’t require cell phone service either.
Do you use downloaded maps on google maps for no service? You should do a tutorial!! Love your vids! And do maintenance vids if you do your own
Hey there. So what I do is research routes from home and I take mental notes on where I need to go. I also started to use a free app called Gaia Gps and that app is awesome for trail riding. I generally don’t do maintenance videos but I think I will start doing a few this year. Thanks for watching and your support.
Another great video ManzanoMan. Have you ever upload your gpx files to any website (like wikiloc)?
Thank you, I really appreciate it. I have not uploaded any gpx files to any websites. I think in the future I am going to start building files and uploading some type of information.
@@ManzanoManATVAdventures That would be great. Some of the areas you've visited look fantastic and it would be neat to see the routes you've taken on a map.
Thanks buddy. I appreciate your support and ideas.
Rueben, what tires are you using on your wheeler during that ride in New Mexico
Hey bud. These are the Carlisle AT489 tires that are stock. They perform dang good for the terrain that New Mexico throws at them.
The ruins is cool! I think Walter white buried his cash there! lol
Lol. Walter White buried his cash near by. It was about 60 miles from this area.
@@ManzanoManATVAdventures Oh really!! Humm you go a metal detector? hahahaha
@@paullavigne5299 I do have a metal detector lol. I should go and try my luck lol.
How come you don't get yourself a sport quad there's so much fun
Man they are a ton of fun. I use to own a Suzuki LTR 450 and that was an awesome rowdy quad. I do see a sport coming back in my future. They are super fun.
Don’t you ever get a flat tire?
Thankfully I have not gotten a flat tire. I do carry a tire repair kit that consist of plugs and slim along with always looking for the best route to navigate trying to avoid punctures.
I like to join a ride with u. I’m in New Mexico. Four corners area
Hey man. We should plan a ride in the future. I have a busy few months ahead of me as I am expecting my son to be more early March. I think that would be cool to ride with you man. Lets plan for it.
Ponderosa…?…
No, Magdalena south of water canyon campground.
