  • On this camp I head back up onto the Bewcastle Fells, to test out some new gear that was sent to me. So a big thank you to Sara from Robens , I will post separate first look videos in the near future on each of the new items used in this camp.
    Also sun was out for a change but we still had some rain as per .

    Great to see a review of some Robens gear. Well made equipment from Denmark! Overlooked by the mainstream despite being top quality camping equipment. Thanks Dave for the review.

    Thanks for getting such a proud LNT message in once again. I feel Ive been a bit remiss not thanking the channels I follow for this lately. Some popular routes have so much litter its impossible to pickup the odd plastic or lunch wrapper and feel you achieved something. The utube channels are important for informing people new to camping. Thx for posting. JMO.

    Excellent bivy bag. I never had any condensation in it because i put a bottle filled with warm water at the feet in tje sleeping bag, it works fairly well. But it os a matter of weather and conditions too. This is one of my favourite stealth camping gear. Glad you enjoyed it ! Great video.

    Nice one Dave, a good haul from Robens, well deserved & I'm sure you'll put it through it's paces without bias....and that wasn't a bad start with that wet weather overnight! Mind I still think you're a bit mad for not using a tent 😂😂 Some lovely hazy sunrise shots, but aye, it's still not too summery on this one. The gear coped well in the changeable conditions Dave. I haven't used a synthetic bag for years either but one advantage, if it does get wet, is that it keeps its insulation. Good stars too. Can't remember the last good night sky camp I had. ATB mate, Chris

    I get dampness in my foot box ( Robens mountain bivvy). Sometimes it’s really wet. I was beginning to think the seams were leaking because it’s never damp anywhere else

    • @BorderRambler

      I turned mine inside out to inspect and it is heavily taped on the seams, so maybe this location doesn’t breathe as well as the rest of the bivi ?

    Nice review of the kit. We got a couple of the Robens Mountain bivvys and a tarp to do the Cleveland Way earlier this year. The weather was appalling and despite pitching the tarp as a tent the bivvys didn't keep out the rain. Given the specs I'd expected better performance from the bags. I love the features that the bag has for size and zip, but have lost all confidence in it for keeping weather out. How did the bag cope on your bike trip?

    • @BorderRambler
      @BorderRambler  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Steve , this one is more suited to better weather camps as you don’t have the security of the hoop. Which gives you that headroom to zip it right over . The Robens was ideal on my bike camping trips tho but we had dry weather on that trip.

    And the couple of companies that do ( trekology) for example,are at the lower end of the market,id gladly pay good money for one that wide with a good r value,sorry robens,no sale from me,when are you big companies going to listen to your customers,such a shame as i really like the sleep mat 😔😔
