Pundits like Kerr and Redick makes good coach. They're used to watch the NBA closely as a commentator/analyst after their playing career is over. They also fit the era we're in now cause they know how to get buckets with usage of screens and 3pt shooting. They also never been the first option when they played so they know how to utilize the role players. Unlike Jason Kidd or Steve Nash that's so used to being the primary ball handler at their time, they see the game as a whole, from the perspective of a coach as well as former player.

That “old” Wooden high post offense is what Kareem was a master at, it’s perfect for AD & LBJ as both are excellent anticipatory passers, and can get to the rim plus convert at the stripe.

AD and Lebron are smart, big and good passers. Having them move the ball, instead of being big men moving themselves, is better for longevity to pass. Also, it lets them chop up the defense without running around too much. I like seeing AD as a play maker. He needs to get comfortable running the offense too. First min of watching the team on offense and you can tell the offense is different. They should’ve ran these plays and style for year already. LJ hasn’t wanted to play off the ball and run sets so he can rest on plays.

Oof, you’re probably not a lakers fan so I wouldn’t expect you to know… but all but two plays from this video are from last years playbook. The new actions we’ve introduced, mainly weave action haven’t been very good.

@@leonhardable I really don’t blame him tho. I just noticed bc I’m a former coach and I know X’s and O’s as well as a laker fan that’s seen every game. People who aren’t either really wouldn’t be able to tell.
To be clear, there is something I’ve really like from JJ. But many things that do ring some alarm bells, even though it is just preseason

@@getthefonyourdot i rarely watch the lakers themselves, but as a nuggets fan i've seen them a lot these last years, and that AD skip pass to the box was spammed so much even i remembered it, from like 6 games last season.
i agree, its a small thing that is easily missed. but personally, i feel (or felt) like this channel used to not miss those minor details, which lifted it a level above other insight channels.
and i also agree on JJ. personally i dont think it will really work out with this lakers squad, but i dont think thats on his basketball/coaching skills - LA situation is just really fucked for everybody who is in there, except for the jameses'

The play at 0:53 as well as 0:55 is pretty bad. They missed a wide open AD TWICE. First with Lebron, who could've even passed it directly to AD who was already wide open with Plumlee completely out of the play at that point and no one switching onto AD. Even if someone were to switch - AD is taller and was closer to the basket. Just pass it high for an easy lay-in. Second was Reeves, who heaved up a three instead of passing it to, again, a wide open AD for an easy dunk/lay up.
