On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.

Damn. Eagle hit a one in a million angle to be perfectly obscured by your cockpit bow, and was able to slide all the way over you while being out of your FOV.
Crazy lucky but also good on him to see his opportunity and capitalize.
I think the bubble canopy and helmet mounted sights are both significant improvements to SA.

@@LionessPurpose flares are essentially IR (infrared) missile countermeasures. so basically if an IR missile is shot at you, you pop flare and hope it confuses the tracking of the missile. basically OP made a joke

I'd love to see an xray view of that move at the end to see where the plane snuck out of your FOV. As well as being a good example of having better visibility, it's also a good example of limited FOV due to a monitor screwing you over. I bet a real eyeball would have caught the movement in peripheral vision.

@@CormathIrecar That's one of the upgrades that was going to be included in the Super Tomcat 21 or the ASF-14 models. They were both supposed to have a single piece windscreen that would have opened up forward visibility quite a bit. I think he got screwed by playing on a monitor more than anything. Real eyeballs would have let him see the Eagle slipping overhead, and he would've noticed no Eagle in front.

Well, Round 3 he definitely did something different. Talk about the perfect moment you are zooming into your sight and miss the upper peripheral due to screen limitations. CONGRATS ON 500K GS!!!! 🎉
The F14 was one of my first modules, I found it very frustrating to fly but you kind of have to give it respect for it to let you unlock it's full potential.
Getting good in the tomcat is one of the most rewarding things to do in dcs

Curse that canopy rail! That is pretty much pure accident as you cannot expect that pair of motions between the two aircraft, but damn if he didn't just disappear on you. :D
Have you considered porting in the audio from your opponent? I realize it would completely change the fight dynamics and the nature of the VO, and is not realistically pure (which I normally frown on 😮) but could be an interesting variation occasionally. Mutual deceptions, yes, but perspectives and reactions bouncing back and forth.
Its VERY impressive that the fight got to this point.

The last kill was a testament to the poor f14 front cockpit visibility lol, the f16 or even the f15 would not suffer from this. Great sequence of events. Also the ending song is always a banger.
I love turning up the volume on the clips of the aftermath with each fight, the rumbles of the tomcat makes my headset go crazy aha like at 5:19

I love watching you make that Tomcat dance. It just goes to show that it was an absolute mistake for decommissioning the Tomcat Program. American engineering at its finest. I can only imagine how deadly the pilots that flew Tomcats day after day were. As much as I like the P51 the Tomcat will always be one of my favorite aircraft of all time. The things you can make that massive aircraft do is just unreal.
I always watch your videos with so much envy. I’l stick to flying rubber dog s**t out of Hong Kong in my 747’s haha. I put in so much effort into trying to get better at A/A but I’ve hit my talent wall. You make it look far too easy. Top notch as always and a big congratulations on the 500k sir 🫡

Its interesting that the F14 can hold its own given the F15 has extensive use of composites and lacks the 14's heavy duty (naval) construction and 2 seats. Gratz on 500k!
it's more about the pilot than the plane, specially in this case. Let GS handle the F15 and watch how he would dominate against the F14. Pilot is more important than the plane in this case.
@@pkpnyt4711 Yeah, the only place the F-14 really stacks up at all with the F-15 is here on the F-14 fanboy channel.
Don't get me wrong--I like the F-14. But there's a reason it's a museum piece while the F-15 is still the backbone of the USAF.
GS loves the F-14, and he outclasses all his opponents. But there's really no comparison between those aircraft.

That first kill was really just GS activating the eagle's afterburner.
The Tomcat Eagle fight is always entertaining. Especially since McDonnell Douglas tried pushing a navalized F-15 to replace the Tomcat. Great fight as always.

Can you do some more dogfights in both fighters? For example you start off flying the tomcat vs the eagle, but then in round 2 fly the eagle against the tomcat
Exactly what I was gonna say! As long as YOU GS have mostly equal time in each bird, The switch would take out pilot skill as far as pointing out the pros & cons of each aircraft
And thats why dogfighters like the F16 lack a conopy bow.

I would love a video with a view of your stick, throttle and rudders so we can get a better idea of how you are manipulating the aircraft. Or an input overlay, that’s probably easier but could help a struggling player like myself.

I've always wondered how the pilots manage to keep looking at the bandit in ACM when they're pulling such heavy G's, how does their neck handle the weight of the head being turned up and back at 9g's?

Ironic, but fitting. Watching him navigate all of these various aircraft with such skill has been the best two years of entertainment and education I've ever had.

Interesting video. These what if videos plotting USAF and US Navy planes against each other is entertaining for sure. Have a full out Country vs Country series - take all of the military power's of each vs the other.
I miss some of the Tacview analysis. Maybe not on every video, but it did often give breakdown education to us aviation enthusiasts
