I highly recommend the book Wintering by Katherine May! A really beautiful book exploring winter rest by a fellow autistic chronically ill woman! It's partially a book about rest and partially a book about winter so it really fits with your desire for rest and for being in touch with the seasons. I read it at during a really difficult winter for me when I felt like I was being forced to do nothing because of chronic illness and it made me feel both understood and comforted. Its partially a memoir of May's experience but also a book that uses winter as a lens to explore a difficult time in life. It almost reads like a journal exploring the subject of winter where life has seeped into its pages. Its also extremely well written in a way that made it so easy to read!

I have a cozy game rec for the Switch, an indie game called Elli - it's very soft and there is barely any dialogue which I personally loved, what dialogue we get is either compassionate or funny. There is an antagonist but again it's very soft and it's more about understanding them than punishing them and I also really liked that about it!

Wishing you a strong end to 2023 Ally, with good health, good books, and sunny days!! My favorite books I read this fall were Hijab Butch Blues by Lamya H. (memoir), Africa is Not a Country by Dipo Faloyin (non-fiction), and Shark Heart: A Love Story by Emily Habek (fiction, about a couple where the husband is slowly turning into a shark!)

Love your videos! And I completely understand the migraine nightmare. Mine all acted like strokes and cost so much in ER visits, etc. Always have the blinding aura to start. I'm sure you've heard of this as an option but just in case you haven't, getting a daith piercing absolutely saved me. My piercer insisted that I go to an acupunturist first to mark the right spot and then she pierced it. I had very low hopes of it working and figured that I would just have a new cute piercing if anything. Pretty painful piercing that took awhile to heal but my migraines went from many, many a month including some doozy cluster migraines, to about 4x a year (I've noticed it happens around season changes). I do highly recommend, along with the acupunturist (don't go to a piercer who just guesses the spot). Either way, hope the medicine works for ya! Keep up all the good work!

I just have to thank you for your wonderful videos, they always come at the best times! I'm fairly new to getting back into reading and sometimes I feel like I don't annotate books because I get discouraged if I feel like I can't find a particular passage that makes me feel like a super ~intellectual~ girly and seeing you underline something as beautifully simple as "it takes no time at all if we all work together" just really connected with me. It reminds me that sometimes it doesn't have to be hugely groundbreaking to really connect and I think I'll read easier by just reading instead of looking 🥰 sending lots of good vibes and health your way this holiday season 🙌🏻❤️

2023 was wild. I have always been neurodivergent and have experienced in what ways the world is harder for me to deal with as an autistic person. But this year I also became more physically disabled/ got diagnosed with physical disabilities. My thyroid went into the crapper, chronic migrains, fibromyalgia, Ehlers Danlos syndrome. All diagnosed in the spring of this year. So this year was mostly me finally coming to terms with my own limits and learning how to better take care of myself…. Especially the migraines….. they forced me to enforce certain personal boundaries like nothing ever has. Hopefully in 2024 I can continue my studies at university without pushing myself into burn out again. I’ll just leave that here, to manifest.

I proudly remembered to take my meds before work this morning, but it turns out I also left a full cup of coffee on my desk. Directly in front of my face. It had already cooled significantly, but it's in a mug with a foil decoration so I couldn't put it in the microwave, so yes I did chug 12 ounces of cold coffee. But I did read some good books in November, even though I couldn't get myself to stick with any reading plan, lol. I finished The Clocktaur War duology by T. Kingfisher (which really feels like two parts of one big book) and loved it because it felt like the Dungeons & Dragons movie, and I had a surprisingly good time with Sword Catcher by Cassandra Clare once I got past the info dumping. And then right at the end of the month, I listened to Madame Restell: The Life, Death, and Resurrection of Old New York's Most Fabulous, Fearless, and Infamous Abortionist by Jennifer Wright and narrated by Mara Wilson. It was a fascinating bit of history about a complicated woman that I'd never heard of, and I got a bit worked up about the state of women's health care in the US.

It’s been soooo windy and cold here, so I’m curling up with ‘Spill, Simmer, Falter, Wither’. So far it’s a sweet story about an older man who I think is autistic, how he comes to adopt a dog, and the adventures that leads to. I love the writing; it’s told from the man’s point of view as his world opens up because of Oneeye. ❤️

I was able to read 3 novels, a novella, a poetry collection, a graphic novel, and the 4 Frog and Toad books for the readathon, and I got 4 bingos by counting books for multiple spaces! It was honestly a pretty strong reading month for me content-wise even though I didn't read much for like 2 weeks straight for a lot of busy life reasons. I think my faves of the bunch were System Collapse by Martha Wells and The Lesbiana's Guide to Catholic School by Sonora Reyes, but I enjoyed everything I read last month and didn't give anything below 4 stars which is a win in my book! Always love your cozy reading vlogs and can't wait to see the end of year videos as well 💖💞

Poor baby Albus and poor Ally's face 😮‍💨 I hope he gets better! I ended up not participating in BloominRAT, thought I would but got a surprise "you gotta move out of your apartament" right before my highly antecipated trip to Cuba 🥲 got back and went full mode packing, had no braincells for organized reading but will get back to it next year ❤

I joined the reading challenge on StoryGraph and actually succeeded in fulfilling all the prompts! Didn't expect that, but it made me happy. It was so much fun. 🌼💚
My most favourite book was a book written in Finnish, but it is unfortunately not translated into English, but into German.
But I would also recommend Places I've Taken My Body by Molly McCully Brown.

I agree ; the toxic productivity narrative has rendered me burnt the effffff out many times , but I’m aiming to make this the last time .
