Incubation for ideas is so critical IMO...letting them sit in your head and sort of grow and bounce off other ideas onto them....that's the key. When it's time to make it you're already ready 14:00
The most ADHD creative there is. That's a compliment btw Ali 😅 The chaos and ideas are amazing. No one will ever work out your process, A truly unique artist ❤
how the heck was this done?? the whole scenario with sabrina? absolutely crazy. Feels so real. the question in the grocery store??! when did that get there?
Answer in next Q&A Plz!! Or maybe now 👀23:47 How do you make these composites look so friggin clean all the time? So much like, they were actually there? Is there an easy way to do this? How much time do you spend?
Hey mate, thanks so much for answering my question(s). Weirdly enough, it did make sense! But boy you are a machine when it comes to using your shots in a way that seems so pre-planned! I know that sometimes stuff just comes together in the edit, but the frequency and level that you have is just insane. Anyway, let’s pretend I didn’t understand your answer because I’d still love a whole video about your process 😁
Ali, this is so cool! I was hoping you were going to pick my question! It was not a one time event that I cried at your videos. Every single time you're doing something that is an emotional story... man, it hits me like a bus and cannot hold the emotion. Love seeing people like you being happy and contempt with what they are doing and what they represent. In this ever-changing environment, it's a breath of fresh air. You are a person that is in love with the process of telling a story, and I'm happy we're priviledged enough to have you here and gather around as a community. If you are ever in Stuttgart, Germany, let me know.
This guy inspires me with every single one of his videos. Makes me want to create. That is something so valuable in this current time, where we are fed video by video, trained to consume more. We need to cherish this guy, as long as we still have him. Who knows when he will change Jobs again.
This whole video being edited to make it look one long take is beyond incredible. It’s a bit ironic when you said you don’t really have pre production phase but I’m sure this took some time to plan the shots and blocking and all but you did it so tastefully that it doesn’t feel like it. This is cinema. Damn Ali! You’re a legend. Come back to Singapore and we'll have chicken rice!
I don’t know why but I’m so happy you answered my question right at the end! Thank you mate, gonna re watch this every time I doubt filming outside. Also you should come to Perth, the weather is warm and fried rice is great! 🍻
dude the shot for the first question is ridiculous! then i got pissed off when i realized this video was a one take scene shortly after you said you wanted to make a video that doesnt cut and went to the second question AMAZINGGGGGG
Great live-answering to our curious questions~. The "why you don't create 'stop.. start..'series", really is a huge question from your fans,Great answer! I was shocked when the text on the box came out in the store,i thought you prepared the brush before going to that store. But then i Realized it was a complication.🤣
Great vid man. Completely get the whole going off an edit if it's taking "too long", have only recently been able to combat it myself. Cardboard box bit is outrageous. Also we work in the same building.
"Why do you keep making videos when you're not getting views?" - I'm just glad I was here before this channel blew up. These videos are so so good. But to answer that. Make the videos because they're fantastic not because of the views. 🙌🏻
19:15 It doesn't matter if its making 10k views or 1 million views, the amount of people who actually gain from the message you convey tend to be really small and the number of these people tends to not go up proportional to the viewcount a video has. Not to mention, likeminded individuals to you are attracted to your channel and no matter how small the number is, people that stick for months or years regardless of the viewcount will be those that truly get you, so its not pointless to continuing what you do. I love what you do, and I wouldn't want to see you not uploading videos anymore. Hoping to see from you more in the future Ali! Much love from Turkey
Hey Ali! Love your work, what I really, really....like seriously really, want to know is how you edit your music and sound and also produce? Do you produce any of your music in your videos, and if so whats that process like? Open the video in Logic pro x?? if not where do you get the music? The drums, the small sound details ---- ,super curious - I am a musician and filmmaker as well and that inspires me. Also, keep it up! Love it! : )
thanks this is a great Q and I did want to cover about music. I think i'll do a whole vid about it. yeah I make about 90% of music in my vids, but it's always very basic music. simple drums from standard drum samples in logic and usually very basic synths! and yeah I put vid in logic to make it easier. Will make a vid!!!
oh man! I will be waiting eagerly for that! That’s a unique workflow and it produces such an amazing result! One can sense the difference from copyright music used in other videos. So looking forward to it - really curious how you go back and forth logic and editing --like you play the music live with midi over the whole video after final edit?! MAD!
I see so many similarities between us :D If you happen to be in SOA in the next three months, I’d love to meet you and have a chat about life and filmmaking
Love how you said you want to do one of those seamless 1 take shot things, then proceeded to do a full video with no cuts. So good man!
I talked to a friend recently about your work and he was like "is Ali the new Casey?" All I could think to respond was "oh no he's BETTER."
The creativity behind your videos is so fkin refreshing.
Pfff that shot into the first question - it is just so epically flawless. Thanks for these gems and putting so much love in it man!
Incubation for ideas is so critical IMO...letting them sit in your head and sort of grow and bounce off other ideas onto them....that's the key. When it's time to make it you're already ready 14:00
100% totally agree. It’s like of course I can talk about this for 20 mins, I’ve been talking about it in the shower for 3 months 🤣
@@aligallop lol exactly. i've seen barry jenkins , director of moonlight, say pretty much the same thing regarding his writing process

5:00 i love the fact that this is a "one take" video

26 minutes uncut, big wow from me, very authentic and inspring storyteller, love your approach on this whole youtube thing!
Honestly, you're a top tier creator and storyteller. Toooo good 💯

The GOATTT! First question transition was unreal!
Epic video. They way you go about making your videos and your reasons for doing the things the way you do them are so relatable. Dang.

This is top tier Ali, unreal work
This is the most relatable “creative process” explanation I’ve ever heard
Dude, I absolutely love these transitions between the questions. I'm mind blown 🤯
