The key word was culture. Meaning both sexes are involved. Men and women participate at verring levels. It's the action that contributes to the culture not the effects ( monitary gain, reproduction, std risk, etc.) Some people monitize. some people just enjoy the lifestyle. Is it beneficial for the entire population? I'm sure it has its place. Been around long enough for us to understand it's value.

I do watch the show, and I do recall them saying up your appearance to get a second look... But if that person really liked you for you then your appearance for example teeth can be overlooked. Until that individual gets the confidence to actually start doing physical changes.. you can do a lot of rebuilding when it comes to appearance. You can start with mentally, then emotional. Once you're mentally healthy then everything else will fall into place 🤷🏽‍♀️ @DrewRagTV
