  • I was recently gifted this beautiful Browning Explorer 1 recurve by an old friend. The bow is practically in mint condition. Shoots hard and fast. Still don’t have a perfect arrow setup for it but for the time being, it sure is fun to shoot. If you shoot one of these bows, I’d love to hear your experience with it. Thanks for watching!

The vintage brownings hardly ever yellow compared to other vintage bows of that era. They are built well and look great as well.

I have 2 explorer bows. One 56 inch and a 62 inch. I read years ago there was a lawsuit between Browning & Black Widow over design copy. They ARE BEAUTIFUL BOWS !

I really like Brownings, I have an Explorer I just like this in 50lbs. It’s later than 62, they made these between ‘67 and ‘75.
If you take a close look at the limbs, you’ll see they used at least three lams instead of the usual two. I think this makes for a more consistent and durable limb.
I’ve also got a Wasp, and a Safari I and a Safari II.
Often dismissed as bows “made by a gun manufacturer” I’d take a Browning over a vintage Bear.

I had a 63 lbs explorer 2. It was a well balanced and quiet bow. Mine was the same year I believe as yours as it had the two. Mine was a 62 inch bow. I traded it in because it was a beast to string up and wanted a 50 lbs draw weight bow. The browning has 5 maple laminations in the limbs. It's a work of art that bow

How lucky can you get. A beautiful old bow that looks brand new, and free at that. Looks like it shoots great. I will buy it if you don’t want it.

Thanks. It’s a beauty for sure. I think I’ll keep it and mess around with it more (tuning arrows for it) this summer as I have more time. Really impressed with the builder and craftsmanship. Shoots fantastic to boot!

I bought one at a antigue shop in Bozeman Mt. I love it. Paid $200 for it 3 years ago.

Can you explain the bump bump on the hair rests? Where to put them and how? I am getting ready to put a new rest on a browning spartan and was just going to put it on flat.

I try to put the “bump” part of the rest (and side plate too) over the deepest part of the grip. This helps minimize the effect of torque in your bow hand affecting the arrow.

@@bowhuntingsoul2149 awesome! Thank you for responding! I ran across another one of your vids where you explained it and showed 3 different ones. I just picked up the bear hair and leather rest today so I'm getting excited lol. Thanks a bunch man!
