It’s very obvious Hakan really knows what he’s talking about. Reinforces my Spuhr purchase.

I mean, it stands to reason he knows what he's talking about... He's a machinist and engineer, he designed the Spuhr mount himself.

exactly why ARP reccomends greasing head studs.. friction.. alot of "gun experts" will argue, but its just proven facts..

Are people out there really complaining about a 5$ block of resin after buying a 400+ dollar scope mount?

They type of lube can make a major difference in the torque also.

Christian Mire of course it can as to why the provide pre lubed mounts..now you have no worries 😁

dillaboo16 let me explain myself better. If you remove the factory lube for some reason and use a different lube you can effect the clamping power, just like he said it does with no lube. Copper based lube will have one friction property, oil has another friction property and another product like Blue Molly has another.

Christian Mire that’s why I use coconut oil.

I have a Masterpiece Arms 6.5x47 Lapua rifle with a 20 MOA pic rail, 26" M24 barrel. I am going to purchase a SPHUR QDP mount for my Steiner M5Xi Military 5-25x56, 34 mm tube but I'm not sure what ring height should I purchase for the SPHUR QDP mount. Any advice would be appreciated.

Dan Mann How’s that setup? I’m looking at a Masterpiece Arms PRS Production rifle in 6mm Creedmoor, a SPUHR Mount, and an Athlon Cronus 4.5-29x56.

Overall great video and information (I have a Spuhr mount and highly recommend their products), but DO NOT apply his advice about torquing scope rings to other vendors products. Not only does each possibly have their own torque values, but many recommend or plainly states NOT using a wet torque method - oil/threadlocker. If the manufacturer recommends you do not use a threadlocking compound, but you insist, I recommend using Vibra-tite VC-3 as it dries before you apply, uses a different type of compound, and gives you some extra holding power without adversely affecting torque, and you can easily get the screw out. A little rosin on the inside of the rings can give you the added assurance of the scope not slipping in a heavy magnum gun, but it shouldn't even be an issue with a quality scope mount properly torqued to vendor specs.
Here's a link to a Vortex video recommending not using threadlocker if you don't believe me - and there are others that will tell you the same.
