Oh my gosh, I never thought I'd see the original video of this. This song is a fantastic parody, a great to listen to even if it's not Christmas. It's just hilarious.
First time I ever heard this great parody was with my Sony Walkman on a bus FULL of people staring at me watching me die laughing. I felt so sorry for those poor people not being in my shoes!
I head this when I was kid on the radio and I remember stalking one of the stations for days, a blank tape in my player, and me just sitting there waiting for it come on so I could hit the record button. The stations would always talk through the first part. Of course, I would accidentally re-record over it and have to start all over again. Every year, like clockwork, I think of this song and will say "one goes out they all go out" or "she's a witch, I hate her" to someone and nobody ever knows what I'm talking about. 😂
This is the funniest song I've ever listen to! 5 months of bills, facing my in-laws, hangovers, and rigging up the lights are my favorite parts of the song!
Also, the "dead mall" phenomenon means that "Salvation Army", "whiny kid", "no parking" and "batteries not included" would more likely be shown at a Wal-Mart or Target these days instead of a mall.
@@gordontaylor2815Last year I was at the Mart of Walls and a two-year-old somewhere was having a full-blown, screaming-their-head-off, thrashing-in-the-shopping-cart tantrum! I didn’t know where this kid was, but you could her the screams _all over_ the store! Thank the gods mine are grown now and my days of shopping trips being abruptly cut short because my kids weren’t behaving are over!
I work retail, and even the cards with the raised numbers (for the swipers, of course!) are fast becoming extinct as chip readers and tap-to-pay are taking over!
Number 4 is my favorite. Sending Christmas cards Sending Christmas cards I hate those Christmas cards! Sending Christmas cards! Ah, making out these cards! Writing out all those Christmas cards! Yo-ho, sending Christmas! Oh, I don't even know half these people! I'm not sending them this year, that's it! That''ll be me someday.
My radio station stopped playing it for some reason the last few years, so every year I have to search on TH-cam to hear it. Imagine my surprise when just today I discovered there's an actual music video for it! This is fantastic! ❤
I was first introduced to this version by a compilation joke book, filled mostly of submissions to a local radio station, the proceeds of which went to CF research. I later showed this to my high school's student council, and they couldn't stop laughing.
I just heard this on XM Radio a couple of days ago and I thought it was so funny. It is now becoming a Christmas tradition of mine now to hear every year. Love it.
OMG, I’ve listened to this song many times for the past 25 years (when I discovered Bob Rivers) and had no idea that there was a music video for this until now! It’s awesome! 🤩👍🏻🎄
Partridge - Finding a Christmas Tree Turtle Dove - Rigging up the Lights French Drunk Rooster - Hangover Collie Bird - Christmas Cards Any - 5 months of bill Goose - in-laws Swan - salvation army Any - dealing with whining children Piping piper - parking spaces Crazy scientist - over batteries Elegant butler - stale tv special Drumming drummer against Christmas carolers
Alternate ending: Instead of them singing "And finding a Christmas tree", the song would end with someone singing "And sitting on top of a tree", possibly followed by "Ow!".
I need a moment alone to enjoy this song - all the way through - every Christmas season. I always sing along and visualize the "scenes" that play out with each verse. Today is the first time I have seen the video, so now I have more vivid images of the 12 pains.
🎄My New 🎅Favorite Classic 🎁Christmas🎀 song ‼ I originally heard this 2years ago and I can't get enough. There should be an animated version ‼ December 17th 2019
If there was more than 12 days,... Dressing up like Santa I'm thinking they didn't include that because there was another song about that on the same album.
So, every year I come back to this video, and every year I ask myself what's that tool they use in the "five months of bills" part. Not American so I have no clue.
It's the credit card impression machine. Credit cards used to be processed simply by putting the card on the machine, placing a receipt form (with carbon copy) over the top, and running it over with the hand slider. This made an impression of the credit card information (card number, expiration date, and name of cardholder) onto the credit card receipt form, which you would then have to sign. You get the top copy, and the store gets the bottom copy. This was in the age before magnetic strip readers and computerized registers.
"Now why the hell are they blinking!" LOL
I always picture George Costanza singing those lines.
That was my father. He never liked when they blinked, and I did, but guess who paid the bills in the house? lol
Thats my favorite part! R.I.P. The Christmas lights. LOL 😂
That my father !!!
One light goes out, they all go out! 🤣
Merry Christmas 2023!

I remember having to go replace the fuse for one reason or another.
Finally I can explain the "one light goes out, they ALL go out" quote to the kids...

Loved this song 30 years ago and finding this video in the 2023 x-mas season was my best self-present yet! Thanx for the upload!!🎁😂
A great memory from when I was a kid. This will never get old 😂
So happy to see the original video of this, circa 1987! The sliding credit card reader and licking postage stamps are now a part of history!
Not to mention how when one light goes out, they all go out!
@@jnerdsblog That's the fatal flaw of lights connected in series as opposed to parallel.

Rigging up the lights--- classic
Never knew this had an accompanying music video
Yeah. Too bad they didn't make each one more interactive with the others, like the Christmas card/hangover/lights guys mixing together at the end.
True classic. LOL!
"FIVE MONTHS OF BILLS" So tru
It becoms "You must go into debt this Christmas or you'll be hated for life!"

But in homes with circuit breakers, it could be "Get a flashlight, I blew a circuit!" lol
Or "get a flashlight! I tripped a breaker!"
Love this. Always makes me laugh.

Funny how Day 2 is not nearly such a problem in the age of LED lights!
They also later modernized lights so when one went out they all didn't go out.
