- This past week I decided to take a drive to an area of Vermont I had never been. It was a drizzly day, a good day for exploring. Along the way I discovered some cute little Towns but also some fun General or Country Stores and I'm sharing that with you today.
I have shared other NEW ENGLAND GENERAL STORES in the past in the following VIDEOS:
• Lake Sunapee Dinner Cr...
• Fall in New England
• An Autumn day trip to ...
• Overnight trip to Vermont
MY ONLINE STORE (New Items Added): mynewenglandst...
Oh I always look forward to your and Linda's video's on Sunday, when I come home from church I settle in with my coffee and feel like I am visiting a couple friends. Really takes the loneliness out of being alone. Love the amazing scenery , Someday I want to visit New England again. My Husband and I visited Maine years ago. But missed out on all those country stores.
I'm glad you enjoyed it Fran! Have a great rest of your day.
A must for sure, new England is beautiful
I agree , your videos and Linda Vater ‘s are my favs, Professional and entertaining but mostly I enjoy as you both remember the channel is for your viewers ( obviously to build your subscribers ) not about “YOU” and endless promoting yourselves and products with your names on them. . Thank you for creating such beautiful videos for our enjoyment 😊
Amen! Carla & Linda feel like our beloved girl friends, for sure. I appreciate seeing the various facets of their personalities & would love to have a giggle fest with them! 🤗

Sunday greetings Carla, today's New England story is a great adventure, hearing those Church bells was such a blessing.
I could see myself spending alot of money at the Farmway, in Bradford. What caught my eyes were the wall hanging winter pictures in frames, the little tables with two chairs would be so colorful for outdoors, so much more did I see and like. So sorry to hear about your long bird feeder and hope you do get it back 🙏 🐻 🐿 Enjoy the Spring weather days.
I forgot to film the inside of the larger building...another Customer started talking to me with a bunch of questions about the food they were selling. That building was incredible....Clothing, Footwear, Garden Supplies etc!
Vermont has the best old general stores. When I'm in Vermont I always find one to explore.
Love going on your outings especially seeing the landscape.
It’s amazing how all that snow is gone. Have a great week! 😊
Thanks for coming along. Yes, the snow melted VERY quickly....thankfully! Enjoy the rest of your day!
Thanks made for a relaxing Sunday morning with my coffee. Have a good day🌸
Thank you! You too!
Hello dear, Carla!!! How I love shopping with you at these charming stores----you have a lovely and calming voice!! Another lovely video----thank you for sharing with all of us!!!

@@mynewenglandstory Dear Carla----have a beautiful day!!!
Hi Carla, thanks for making yet another enjoyable video! Everything you do is alway so very special. GOD bless!
Thank you
Hi Carla, I really enjoyed visiting these country stores. Reminds when I was little (a long time ago) my aunt and uncle had one and I loved going there. They had everything from bolts of material to deli foods. A pot belly stove with a pop cooler where all the farmers gathered around. Seeing the old phone reminds me of when I was first married, we had one like that with a white cover over it and a long cord where you could carry it from room to room. You know, just like they did in the movies. lol Thanks for taking us along.❤
Oh yes, we had the same phone. How fun to have a General Store in the family!
Thank you for the wonderful videos of Vermont and the General Stores. Vermont is beautiful country. I would love to see some Antique Shop videos if possible. I’m in California and I hope to visit New England sometime. ❤️❤️🙂👍🙏
Thank you. If you look through my Videos I have several of Consignment Stores that you may be interested in. Have a wonderful week!
Thank you for sharing,I visited upstate New York,Some of Vermont and the village of Goshen, Massachusetts.Beautfull scenery and friendly people.
I agree, it's a beautiful part of our Country. Have a great day!
Such an enjoyable video, thank you so much!
Thanks for watching Donna!
I know Goffs 😉 My old college buddy lives there. I grew up in VT but also lived in NH, CT, MA, FL, NC, WI, AZ, NM, Vegas, Mexico and now Europe. I do not miss though winters but after five years I may indeed be moving back. My daughter, son in law are in VT still. The best healthcare I've ever had (and I worked in the industry) was in MA. I'm looking at MA and RI. I have also been a vintage and antiques lover my whole life. I had a side business at one point and after seeing the low prices of such items in Europe I'll need steamer trunks to bring them all back. 😉 I'm so happy to have found your channel. 👏🏼❤️
Wow, you have definitely had a good taste of living in different parts of the U.S.! I bet you have found some beautiful Antiques in Europe....I can't imagine. Best of luck with your house hunting, and thank you for watching!
This video was such a nice way to relax on a Sunday night! I love Vermont, but have not been to those towns. I really enjoyed all your stops. My idea of a perfect day is browsing country shops and stopping for a nice lunch! I really miss the "Jelly Mill" in Manchester Vermont, which in now closed. I don't know if you ever visited, but it was like a lot of little country stores in one big barn, with a wonderful restaurant called "The Buttery". I think it was replaced with an Orvis. Have a great week! 😊
I am not familiar with the Jelly Mill but it sounds like something I would have loved. Thank you for sharing. Have a great week Debbie!
I received my Sea Garden body mist and your right the scent is amazing! Not to strong, just a fresh clean scent and the tiny shells in the bottom of the bottle makes it so cute on my vanity, love it.
I'm so glad you like it Fran and so happy we finally figured out your "post office situation". Did you notice that the mist is a little moisturizing? It doesn't have any alcohol or water in it. Have a great weekend!!
Wonderful video Carla! I always love seeing the country stores. And loveeeeee seeing the outside of the store too 😊. Have a nice evening. 🕊️
Thank you Donna! You too!
I enjoyed seeing all that rug hooking!! Wish I could find that in my area!!
Look up Chandler 4 Corners Online, they may have an Online Store.
Oh wow, this quickly takes me back in time to family trips to the northern Indiana state line that included a visit to “The Olde Store” in Mongo, Indiana. Old wooden shelves with canisters of all kinds of unique penny candy that I’d never seen before that the store clerk would scoop out for us into sandwich-size brown paper bags. An antique player piano that we put coins into & watched the piano keys magically play by themselves as the paper scrolled & the music played via the pins - it was loud & rambunctious - & heartwarming to listen to as we browsed. All kinds of unique inexpensive trinkets & miniature toys. Beautiful worn wooden floors that creaked beneath our feet. Two stories full of enchantment. I’m sure you thoroughly enjoyed your trip!
If we could only go back in time....how fun! One of my favorites is Pierce's General Store in Shrewsbury VT. I always feel like I'm walking into Ike Goose's Store from the Waltons. lol. Have a great evening Melinda!
@@mynewenglandstory Ooooh, The Walton’s! It would be so much fun to visit the Walton’s Mountain Museum in Virginia some day. They’ve replicated some of the show’s sets, including the store.
You too, have a beautiful week!
Hi Carla, the bells sounded lovely. I enjoy visiting these kinds of stores...so much to see and perfect for picking up gifts or items for the home. Sorry to hear about your bird feeder! Here in the UK its usually the squirrels trying to steal the bird food! x
Thank you Kareema. Yes, we have the same squirrel issue here and I had just purchased this Birdfeeder in January, a squirrel proof feeder. The squirrels are laughing at me now! lol. Have a wonderful week!
Awe…church bells and general stores! Loved this video..💜
Thank you Teri!
This made my day
I used to love to do the same thing when I lived back here
I try to do the same here
You may find your bird birder in the woods, maybe
I love all the gift shops
Thank you for a fantastic veido
Happy Sunday, enjoy the weather
Thank you Joann. I was thinking the same thing about my Feeder. Oh well, that's Life living in the Woods! lol. After all, they were here first! Have a great rest of your day Joann.
Good video and loved the scenes of the small towns, nature, buildings, and churches. Very enjoyable.
Thank you Marie
Hi Carla thank you for taking us along to beautiful Vermont. Love the wonderful tour and also visiting the shops. Have a great week ❤
Thank you Maria, you too!
Such a fun road trip and just love country general stores❤. Greetings from central New York
I love it when you take us along on your trips. How far do you live from Vermont? I went to Stowe, Vermont on my honeymoon many years ago. I loved it. Thank you for all you do and I hope you have a Blessed week.
Thank you for watching Kay. I'm about an hour from Vermont, depending on what part of Vermont I'm going to. Have a great rest of your week Kay!
My goodness! Thank you for sharing. I would have been so naughty!!💕💕
Thank you
Now that is what I call a fun road trip.....we do have some great hidden gems in New England! Have you ever been to Wilmington VT? There are a few cute little shops but the best one is called "Incurable. Romantic". It's definitely worth the trip, in my opinion! Have a great week, Carla...I'm sure we are all wishing and hoping for some warm sunshine! 🌞 🌞 🌷🌷🌺🌺
Thank you so much Cynthia! Actually, we stopped in Wilmington for the first time a couple of years ago......so cute. We had driven through it several times and finally stopped. I'm so glad we did! Enjoy the rest of our "Spring" week!!
Excellent video! Thank you for letting us browse the interesting shops without all of the voice-over chatter that so many videos do - it was refreshing and calming!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hi Carla. I had a bird feeder of the same type totally disappear 2 weeks ago. I generally take my feeder in at dusk but forgot that night. My neighbors Ring camera picked up the thief. Indeed it was a bear! 🐻 Thank you for visiting my beautiful state again. I’m not sure if you have ever been, but the Stowe area is beautiful to visit too with wonderful shops like the Stowe Mercantile, Cold Hollow Cider Mill and Trapp Family Lodge. Have a blessed week!
I was thinking I probably didn't see prints because we had snow most of last week. I have been to Stowe a few times and that is definitely one of my favorite areas of your State. We made it to Stowe our very first trip to VT because I wanted to see the Trapp Family Lodge. :). Have a wonderful week Annie!
Thanks for taking us along 😊
Thank you for joining me!
Shaker boxes! Love those too!!
Barbara, I wanted to thank you for the adorable Beatrix Potter Card. I picked up my mail yesterday and Miss Jemima Puddle Duck greeted me, thank you! Enjoy your weekend!!
@@mynewenglandstory You are so welcome!
Thanks for this list! I will have to check them out. Have you been to The Vermont Country Store in Rockingham and Weston, VT? They are definitely worth the trip.
Yes, I've been to both. Personally I prefer the Weston one which is more authentic in my opinion. I included a stop in my Dorset VT Video. Thanks for watching and have a great week!
Thank you for sharing. Your channel is delightful (subscribed).
Thank you so much!
A couple of weeks ago I went out to fill our bird feeders (same kind as yours) and low & behold the pole was snapped in half, one bird feeder was GONE, and the metal garbage can I kept bird food in was mangled and empty. There were other signs of a bear. So, no more bird food out until bears are hibernating! I so love watching the birds at the feeder, so I’m not happy about the bear. Couldn’t find that feeder anywhere.
It's crazy! Our first Spring here I had (what I assume was a Bear) take my Suet feeder but found it all bent up by our Stone Wall. This feeder was pretty large and no where to be found. I'm disappointed because I had just purchased it this Winter. Oh Well! Thanks for watching Joan!
I don’t know why it is but you land in the towns where we have homes. 😀 We’re restoring an abandoned tavern/farmhouse outside of Newbury, VT. I’m so glad you enjoyed Rt. 5. It’s so pretty up here.
Isn't that funny? It was my first time in that area and yes, so pretty. How fun restoring an old Tavern/Farmhouse! Thanks for watching and enjoy your week!
I love general country stores, and those bells!!. So beautiful! I am planning to be in Boston in the summer. It will be a short trip so I'd like to ask if you could possibly suggest a couple of either thrift or country stores to visit located close (as possible) to Boston? Thank you Carla!
Thank you Gloria. Unfortunately, I don't know of any in the Boston area. I can recommend some cute quaint Towns, depending on if you are Renting a Car or not. Concord, Marblehead, Rockport, Salem, Duxbury, Plymouth....to name a few. I love Boston because it's such a walkable City....enjoy!
@@mynewenglandstory This is very good, all those places are within driving distance. Thanks!
Love your videos, please slow down a little . So much to see!
❤❤❤❤
The dingos ate your birdhouse...
Wow. These sure aren't like the general stores of my day. Back then the general store sold everything from hardware to cheese. Thes plsces are just tourist traps. I don't see where they get off calling themselves a general store. Sign of the times.
