  • This video explains the difference between the Russian verbs that can be translated in English as “to ask” - спрашивать-спросить, просить-попросить, задавать-задать вопрос. It includes a lot of examples to show how to use these verbs in context. Recommended for students of the intermediate level

    Thank you so much, I have been learning here how to speak Russian and finally when I sat for exams I got excellent results. I have a 5(Отлично) and I have no other person to thank than my favorite teacher Olga Jarrell. I enjoy(ed) lessons here even more than being physically in class. I have continued recommending this channel to my friends too... Thank you so much. I salute you 🙌👏👏

    Terrific explaination, as usual. In my own personal case, not being linguistically gifted, I sometimes wonder if videos such as these might be more easily absorbed if broken into two, shorter units. But the clarity and organization of your presentation leaves no room for further improvement!

    The lesson is 1st Class. The tragedy is that Russian is just an (unnecessarily) extremely complicated language that it requires a 15 minute lesson just about "asking". It would be hard enough if I was in my sponge years (i.e age 2 to 7) but not at my age over 50. The equivalent lesson for Russian students to learn about the english verb "to ask" would last one minute. Appropriate cases, conjugations, dual verbs, its all crazy stuff. Anyway thanks for trying to reduce complexity to simplicity.

    • @AmazingRussian
      @AmazingRussian  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Robert Mion , thank you for your comment. Cannot change the language. The explanation is needed. Unless someone wants to speak broken Russian. 🙂

    • @nicolasfauvel5934
      @nicolasfauvel5934 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Robert Mion, whilst I sympathise with you (and suspect that your comment is half tongue-in-cheek), you speak from the perspective of a native speaker of English (I assume). If a Russian student were to ask you which prepositions work with "to ask" and why others don't, and when a direct object or an indirect object is used, etc., the lesson would be much longer than one minute! And, picking up on Olga's reply, they would end up speaking rather "broken English" if they did not master the details. :)
