This means it is not a unit issue but a design issue. I don't regret selling mine. I thought I could get the 1073 flavor at a low price but this is not it at all. I finally bought a manley force which is sounding great and still have my beloved ISA preamps (which were designed by neve originally) Maybe I'll get my hand on original neve preamps and hear the difference... ;)
@@qubaneli4623 Honestly I don't know much about electronic designs. Microphone-parts kits come with so easy to follow booklet. You simple need to know how to solder and follow the instructions. Some of the kit have options (like different caps or resistor value to optain different results and they are well explained)
On loud sources it does a great job, slight harmonic distortions and if you don't push the compressor to much.. it sounds ok.. but yeah, I sold it to get something cleaner.. When I get it, I'll explain my choice in a video. . . ;)
@@theblowupdollsmusic Yes, on paper, they seems to be the perfect tool, Some 1073 mojo with 1176 compression.. Who doesn't want that ? Not that they are bad, just not what I expected and not what Warren Huart seemed to present when they came out !!

@@MarcoPrimeau The Neve 1073SPX is great and not too expensive. It's surface mount PCB, but it works as expected, sounds good and has no noise.

The tests were made comparing with the ISA.. but the voice was recorded with the RME UFX onboard preamp..

The noise is the reason I did not buy the UK sound 1173. Other demos I hear are noisy. Also, the 1176 compressor clone sounds strange.
