I think this game is a huge homage to movies set in/made in the time period; Shawshank Redemption, Scarface, etc. Never looked it up for confirmation, but the similarities are fun to point out.

I noticed that most people who don't play games in any capacity _really_ struggle with the concept of the camera. It seems simple to those of us who've played since childhood, but most who haven't don't think about operating the camera as a function of gameplay, to match your avatar's movement or to take in the environment independent of movement (i.e. looking Sheera not seeing guards or paths in the environment)
