I've literally seen internet mfs say that they "treat children like everyone else" and don't acknowledge the differences in expectations. RESPECT children like people, but give them some leeway for being kids.
@dinodare1605 yeah you should respect kids like everyone else (because in a lot of cultures there's the expectation that children need to be reared but not necessarily respected, just watch what happens when some POC children try to tell an adult they don't feel respected, especially a young child). But children have the same emotional capacity as adults they just don't understand their feelings and don't have the ability to regulate as well. The SAME grief you feel as an adult losing a parent that immeasurable pain and confusion that child feels the exact same way they just have less bandwidth to cope with it. People think children are simple and this don't feel or think in a complex manner, they do they just don't understand it and have less experience to compare it too, while not being able to physically process certain concepts and ideas that aren't innate. Like a 5 year old PHYSICALLY cannot comprehend long term consequences. What do you want from him my god.
