In my early years, I learned only to offer Paint Correction/Restoration and Polishing if the client only has a garage large enough to perform those services. Outside clients didn't get offered those services because the vehicle will get beat up from the weather and elements anyway.

Learned on a 70s rotory. Big and heavy. A da was something you went to the courthouse to see . Lol . Now 40 yrs later I'm still at the same Dealership plus a side business. Keep up the great work, it’s amazing you have a close support network that can guide you when you may make little mistakes. I’m yet to machine polish my car so I’m certainly no expert on the matter. I did get a test hood just to practice my techniques.
That’s the same way I started about three months ago. I did a few paint enhancements and once I got comfortable with my polisher I experimented with paint correction. I did jobs at ridiculously low prices just to get my hands on cars that I could “experiment” on. They already had trashed exteriors so I couldn’t make it any worse. I just took a detailers class on paint correction and ceramic coatings and finished my first professional coating this past weekend. Keep at it and in no time you’ll be ready for paint correction and coatings.
G'day Danny, it's good to see someone doing a paint correction or gloss enhancement in real life....instead of inside a garage, which is not reality. Just a couple of suggestions, on a car that size use 8 pads and clean them at the end of the day when you get home, do the same with your wash mits, yes it is a investment but it will save you time and avoid any marring of the panels. 8 pads 😂😂😂. Dude clean the pad after every panel and 1 of them will last you 8 enhancement jobs. People give crazy advice on the internet. Pad washers are a thing.
Hi Danny, I started doing detailing less than a year ago. I am in Redwood shores and I do this as a side hustle and I love it. I already offer paint correction, paint enchantment and ceramic coating. $350 is very reasonable being that is a lot of work. I normally would charge 450 to 500. I really enjoy your videos!
Hey Danny for future reference you don’t need to tape off the lights. When I do my paint corrections I even go over them so get rid of the dullness or even swirls if they are that bad.
Right on Diego. Anything to cut down a little bit. I was just doing the way my mentor Lim taught me. But going over the lights make sense it’s kind of an added bonus for the customer right?
@@dannys.auto.detailing_ Same, I'll specifically go over the lights to remove the scratches in the plastic. My first paid correction I did I got a deeper scratch out of a tail light that had been damaged by a belt buckle. Completely gone. Really hazy lights will need a wet sand and polish though.

That definitely looks more like a one step with all the prep and time taken I can totally relate when I first started my paint enhancements where more like one steps also
@@dannys.auto.detailing_ in my opinion you should be using a product like an all in one such as uno protect or 3d speed for a gloss enhancement. That way if you hit trim there is no staining. And since it is an enhancement you should be covering more area so the amount of polish on the pad isn’t enough to get into cracks or crevices and if it does you can always use a cotton swab or air compressor to get it out
Keep moving forward bud, as a professional detailer myself it's a scary thing going into polishing. Self belief and take your time and you'll be fine!! Keep up the good work mate! Just a quick tip, get yourself a pad brush and just brush the excess compound off the pads, this will allow you to use them for longer before getting that hard polish on the paint. I say it for two reasons. First there’s this 1993 movie called Groundhog Day with Billy Murray that I really like. In one seen he kidnaps the groundhog and let’s the groundhog drive. And it’s a crazy drive and Bill Murray tells the groundhog, don’t drive angry. The second reason is and this could be more controversial. But I don’t know if you’ve experienced this But sometimes the women in a man’s life when they clean they do it angry like they are so put off by it. And they’ll get angry at whoever is also in the house at the time. And try and make them feel guilty. I don’t know what it is but it’s kind of like a thing. So having experienced that. I don’t want to clean angry. I don’t need to make other people feel guilty about it. And cleaning angry just ruins the day for me. I like to stay positive and enjoy myself in life no matter what the situation.

Yea man is necessary and good money involved once you know the ins and out. Any clay bar will marred or scratch the paint so this will help in the end. Car Came out 🔥🔥
you can save alot of time. Get some Optimum Hyper spray polish or DIY Gold standard polish. No taping needed and its actually made to be able to polish trim and clean it up. I have never taped a car before using them. its so much faster and you can use them to clean the plastic trim
You can do it bro ! Just a heads up. The Kirkland towels are a little sketch because although you ripped the tag off , it can still leave micro scratches when wiping. Keep it up man !

Good for you getting into paint correction. I have only been detailing as a side gig for about 5 years now and i always do some type of paint correction. Some people are fine with a one step, all in one and some do opt for multi step and ceramic. I really prefer the paint correction side of the business. I like you do not charge what i should, but i also dont have the overhead of guys that own a business. You can use your compressor and blow the pads out or a brush
Let’s go brother! I only include a “paint enhancement” when I do ceramic coatings, since it’s already included in my process. 95% of my clientele are after paint correction and wet sanding cheap paint jobs or shot out paint that need it. If I did charge for a paint enhancement it would be additional $200-$250 to my normal detail price. Paint enhancement for myself can take an easy 1-2 hours. My go to 1 step correction is orange LC HDO or URO Fiber with a combo of IGL 1 & 2 or combo of 3D 510 & 520. I would encourage you to spend the $200 to get a NEX paint reader. It’ll be super handy and it’ll make you look more professional to your clients when you can tell them how thick their paint is and how far you can correct.

Nice man! I just bought that polisher if it’s the G9. I love it. You are spot on about not just being a wiper downer. 100% It’s great to get your feet wet but not sustainable long term as a small business. I respect the authenticity and conviction. Having your car truly detailed is a luxury that takes hard work, know how and time. I’d want quality over quantity. Less volume higher ticket. Especially living in one of the most expensive cities in the country. Good job brother.
Good thing for you Danny! Always good to be a bit anxious and nervous, it shows you care about your work. In case of ppf's, if they do have some scratches, heat it up slightly with a heatgun to activate the 'self-healing' properties. It will straighten out and swirls etc will magically dissapear , easy to do and an extra you can go with for your client ;-)
I use menzurna only. It's expensive but worth every penny. They make amazing compounds. That's something I tell everyone customer that asks. I'm not using cheap stuff from the local auto parts store.

Manuel. Yes, raise your prices. Know your worth. However you got to make sure you have enough customers coming in. Don’t shoot yourself in the foot by raising prices if you don’t have enough custards coming in. best of luck.

With a quality DA polisher and foam pads, paint correction isn't hard and it's really difficult to screw it up I think. If you use wool pads that takes more skill. That being said, if you're nervous about doing it you might try doing it on your own vehicle or a car that someone doesn't care about as much. Maybe an older car with faded paint that can really only improve if you get it done right, but won't really change much how it looks if you screw it up. First time I did it was my own vehicle and it turned out great. If you screw up your own vehicle it sucks, but it's better than learning on a customer's car that matters. When I have time I'm going to paint correct my old 2001 pickup. Not because I really care about the paint on it, but more to demonstrate my abilities and add to my portfolio.
Yeah, totally makes sense. This was my third time touching a polisher to the paint. I took a weekend training course. And helped a friend of mine and create a car in his garage. I started polishing in the 90s I was an apprentice and was trained on removed panels from the body shop for 400 hours (pneumatic Rotary). Then the first major correction is done without supervision... that car was my car. The managers said.. if you're going to learn and make mistakes it will be on your car. If your car passes.. you can move on to customer cars. No pressure lol... had a black Chevy Camaro. Ouch
I’m at $775 for an enhancement on that size, which includes cancoat pro or something similar. You’ll get more proficient as you continue to polish. Keep at it
Good shit man. Let me put you on to my go to. You will thank me later. Lake county hdo foam pads orange with shine supply burnout. It’s a reconditioning cream. You will leave your clients speechless. Microfiber pad on Honda paint leaves to much marring. Sling it with the foam pad and leaves it flawless
youre probably gonna laugh at how nervous you were later, but I can't judge cause I first started on a beater car I owned, and could care less if I ruined it. I'd probably be super nervous basically learning on a paid job as well, but looks like a successful first attempt.

How much time did you spend on that car? If you haven't, try breaking it all down as far as time goes. How long to: wash and/or decon? To tape? To polish? To add and remove sealant?
Great choice on polish and pads. The Essence leaves behind some decent protection if it cures. I usa it as a primer when I ceramic coat with Carpro coatings. Great job man!
i usually use 3d1, it's seems like it does a pretty decent job and it doesnt dust which is a big benefit, but I haven't tried everything, what do you think of it?
My friend Danny you really look nervous I thought u were kidding just to go with the flow of the video but Man U really were nervous,the best thing as a rookie in this business is always always call a friend if u have doubts,I am just learning all this detailing stuff,I did a car of mine a few days that has ppf, I started the cleaning of the tires and rims with non acid wheel and tire cleaner follow with 3D foam shampoo wash then followed with claybar decontamination on paint and windows and the I use Nu finish polish with a batoca lite polisher and finish with meguiars liquid hybrid ceramic wax on paint and windows,I was shock at the end on how great the car look.Sorry but English is not my primary language.
I'm not in the business of detailing or paint correction etc. However I have a new truck I want to make sure I keep looking good. I've seen some video where badges are taped and others where they are not. What type of tape should be used and what areas should for sure be taped ?
Hey Ralph, happy to help. It’s painters tape. It’s just a lightweight tape. Any color, 1 inch. Tape off badges tape off rubber plastic trim, you can tape off the lights. The mirrors. Anything that is not paint and they could possibly get touched or overlapped when you were doing a polish
I charge $180 for a 4door sedan like that. That includes engine wash, Wheel cleaning, pressure wash 2 step polish and paint sealer and exterior windows.
Well I guess it all depends on the city you live in the target market. But let me ask you, how many hours does it take you to do that job? Is it worth it hourly? With all the chemicals and tools you have to buy. All the time you have to put into it. How much money are you really making $180 big job like this?
Nice job dude I just did a 2 step on my dad's black car...it was my first car I had to correct too. It taught me a lot! Cause I had to do it in direct sun here in Texas and correcting for 8 hours a day for 2 days is not fun lol the car sat outside for years, it was bad. Oxidation was insane!
I have been doing it about 13 years now my best advice Find the products that works and stick to them Don't over promise only take on what you can handle Bend over as little as you possibly can purchase a roller stool from harbor freight Know your worth for a long time I was not charging enough covid taught me I could charge way more and people would pay it for quality work from someone they can trust. I went from charging 150 to 200 a car to now 500 to 1000 per car. Don't be afraid to charge Lastly do what you say you are going to do and communicate with your customers. Go bro keep up. Let me send you some advice. 1. Be careful what advices you receive on comments try to filter them...even mine. 2. In polishing continue what you are doing have patience step by step you will build your skills and confidence by time, first some enchantments and AIOs .....later 1 steps...later 2 steps...later coatings .... Don't try to sell something you are not familiar yet ... step by step you will do it. 3. Essence is great ,but.. expensive and has protection already . If you want to top it with other wax don't use ipa wipe down because you wasting time by removing the protection you already add it before you top it. You will save much time and product. If you want bare Paint to add protection dont use products with build in protection, but true polishes or compounds ...then use ipa to remove residue and apply your protection of choice. 4. Dont buy in the future very expensive tools, specially polishers expecting better results. Free to ask anything i can help

Well, I’m still learning. But for the glass enhancement that I did. Which does not do any form of correcting. Are used speed 4. And I only used the white pads by CarPro. So I’m using the least aggressive pads. And to my knowledge you can use whatever pad you want with compound. Hope this helps. Please do some of your own research. Great job man. I have always put my cars inside my garage out of the sun when I polish them. Are the compounds you are using easy to use in the sun or have you got to be careful of them drying up.

Regarding equipment, towels, applicators,and product. Buy the best you can afford. Starting out money is tight, but as you get more business, invest some $ into upgrading your stuff. A cheap towel can ruin your hard work. A cheap polish will do the same. I would recommend you watch Pan the Organizer channel. He tests a lot of products and is very professional and knows what he’s doing, and what he talks about. Give the customer quality work, don’t half ass anything and your business will grow.
Paint enhancements for cars 550 and truck/suv's 750 starting looks like you blob your polish and then start doing your thing but spread your products on speed 1 then turn up your spd for when you start polishing/correcting

Wow. The cost of living must be really high in your area. Here in the UK, customers would want their cars washing for nothing every week for the rest of the year for $350.00. That equates to about £300 in England. To charge that price in England I'd have to either include an interior detail or put a cheap ceramic coating on it, at least.
Tell me a bout it. This city has grown to the point where lots of natives and original families have moved away, and young tech people have moved in. So there are a lot of younger rich people here now.

Hi Danny, I started doing detailing less than a year ago. I am in Redwood shores and I do this as a side hustle and I love it. I already offer paint correction, paint enchantment and ceramic coating. $350 is very reasonable being that is a lot of work. I normally would charge 450 to 500. I really enjoy your videos!

Hey Danny for future reference you don’t need to tape off the lights. When I do my paint corrections I even go over them so get rid of the dullness or even swirls if they are that bad.
Right on Diego. Anything to cut down a little bit. I was just doing the way my mentor Lim taught me. But going over the lights make sense it’s kind of an added bonus for the customer right?
@@dannys.auto.detailing_ Same, I'll specifically go over the lights to remove the scratches in the plastic. My first paid correction I did I got a deeper scratch out of a tail light that had been damaged by a belt buckle. Completely gone. Really hazy lights will need a wet sand and polish though.

@@dannys.auto.detailing_ in my opinion you should be using a product like an all in one such as uno protect or 3d speed for a gloss enhancement. That way if you hit trim there is no staining. And since it is an enhancement you should be covering more area so the amount of polish on the pad isn’t enough to get into cracks or crevices and if it does you can always use a cotton swab or air compressor to get it out

Just a quick tip, get yourself a pad brush and just brush the excess compound off the pads, this will allow you to use them for longer before getting that hard polish on the paint.

I say it for two reasons. First there’s this 1993 movie called Groundhog Day with Billy Murray that I really like. In one seen he kidnaps the groundhog and let’s the groundhog drive. And it’s a crazy drive and Bill Murray tells the groundhog, don’t drive angry. The second reason is and this could be more controversial. But I don’t know if you’ve experienced this But sometimes the women in a man’s life when they clean they do it angry like they are so put off by it. And they’ll get angry at whoever is also in the house at the time. And try and make them feel guilty. I don’t know what it is but it’s kind of like a thing. So having experienced that. I don’t want to clean angry. I don’t need to make other people feel guilty about it. And cleaning angry just ruins the day for me. I like to stay positive and enjoy myself in life no matter what the situation.

you can save alot of time. Get some Optimum Hyper spray polish or DIY Gold standard polish. No taping needed and its actually made to be able to polish trim and clean it up. I have never taped a car before using them. its so much faster and you can use them to clean the plastic trim

Good for you getting into paint correction. I have only been detailing as a side gig for about 5 years now and i always do some type of paint correction. Some people are fine with a one step, all in one and some do opt for multi step and ceramic. I really prefer the paint correction side of the business. I like you do not charge what i should, but i also dont have the overhead of guys that own a business. You can use your compressor and blow the pads out or a brush

Let’s go brother! I only include a “paint enhancement” when I do ceramic coatings, since it’s already included in my process. 95% of my clientele are after paint correction and wet sanding cheap paint jobs or shot out paint that need it. If I did charge for a paint enhancement it would be additional $200-$250 to my normal detail price. Paint enhancement for myself can take an easy 1-2 hours. My go to 1 step correction is orange LC HDO or URO Fiber with a combo of IGL 1 & 2 or combo of 3D 510 & 520. I would encourage you to spend the $200 to get a NEX paint reader. It’ll be super handy and it’ll make you look more professional to your clients when you can tell them how thick their paint is and how far you can correct.
Also, if you get the pad brush or a air compressor, you can literally do one whole car without switching pads. You can clean as you go.
Base on your paint enhancement price recommendation, I was right on the money. I think that’s about right.

In case of ppf's, if they do have some scratches, heat it up slightly with a heatgun to activate the 'self-healing' properties.
It will straighten out and swirls etc will magically dissapear , easy to do and an extra you can go with for your client ;-)

With a quality DA polisher and foam pads, paint correction isn't hard and it's really difficult to screw it up I think. If you use wool pads that takes more skill. That being said, if you're nervous about doing it you might try doing it on your own vehicle or a car that someone doesn't care about as much. Maybe an older car with faded paint that can really only improve if you get it done right, but won't really change much how it looks if you screw it up. First time I did it was my own vehicle and it turned out great. If you screw up your own vehicle it sucks, but it's better than learning on a customer's car that matters. When I have time I'm going to paint correct my old 2001 pickup. Not because I really care about the paint on it, but more to demonstrate my abilities and add to my portfolio.
Yeah, totally makes sense. This was my third time touching a polisher to the paint. I took a weekend training course. And helped a friend of mine and create a car in his garage. I started polishing in the 90s
I was an apprentice and was trained on removed panels from the body shop for 400 hours (pneumatic Rotary). Then the first major correction is done without supervision... that car was my car. The managers said.. if you're going to learn and make mistakes it will be on your car. If your car passes.. you can move on to customer cars. No pressure lol... had a black Chevy Camaro. Ouch

How much time did you spend on that car?
If you haven't, try breaking it all down as far as time goes. How long to: wash and/or decon? To tape? To polish? To add and remove sealant?
I think we took about five hours to wash decon team polish and seal. But there’s two of us.
Great choice on polish and pads. The Essence leaves behind some decent protection if it cures. I usa it as a primer when I ceramic coat with Carpro coatings. Great job man!
i usually use 3d1, it's seems like it does a pretty decent job and it doesnt dust which is a big benefit, but I haven't tried everything, what do you think of it?

My friend Danny you really look nervous I thought u were kidding just to go with the flow of the video but Man U really were nervous,the best thing as a rookie in this business is always always call a friend if u have doubts,I am just learning all this detailing stuff,I did a car of mine a few days that has ppf, I started the cleaning of the tires and rims with non acid wheel and tire cleaner follow with 3D foam shampoo wash then followed with claybar decontamination on paint and windows and the I use Nu finish polish with a batoca lite polisher and finish with meguiars liquid hybrid ceramic wax on paint and windows,I was shock at the end on how great the car look.Sorry but English is not my primary language.

I've seen some video where badges are taped and others where they are not. What type of tape should be used and what areas should for sure be taped ?
Hey Ralph, happy to help. It’s painters tape. It’s just a lightweight tape. Any color, 1 inch. Tape off badges tape off rubber plastic trim, you can tape off the lights. The mirrors. Anything that is not paint and they could possibly get touched or overlapped when you were doing a polish

I charge $180 for a 4door sedan like that. That includes engine wash, Wheel cleaning, pressure wash 2 step polish and paint sealer and exterior windows.
Well I guess it all depends on the city you live in the target market. But let me ask you, how many hours does it take you to do that job? Is it worth it hourly? With all the chemicals and tools you have to buy. All the time you have to put into it. How much money are you really making $180 big job like this?

I just did a 2 step on my dad's black car...it was my first car I had to correct too. It taught me a lot! Cause I had to do it in direct sun here in Texas and correcting for 8 hours a day for 2 days is not fun lol the car sat outside for years, it was bad. Oxidation was insane!

Don't over promise only take on what you can handle
Bend over as little as you possibly can purchase a roller stool from harbor freight
Know your worth for a long time I was not charging enough covid taught me I could charge way more and people would pay it for quality work from someone they can trust. I went from charging 150 to 200 a car to now 500 to 1000 per car. Don't be afraid to charge
Lastly do what you say you are going to do and communicate with your customers.
The skill of detailing will follow with time.

1. Be careful what advices you receive on comments try to filter them...even mine.
2. In polishing continue what you are doing have patience step by step you will build your skills and confidence by time, first some enchantments and AIOs .....later 1 steps...later 2 steps...later coatings ....
Don't try to sell something you are not familiar yet ... step by step you will do it.
3. Essence is great ,but.. expensive and has protection already . If you want to top it with other wax don't use ipa wipe down because you wasting time by removing the protection you already add it before you top it. You will save much time and product.
If you want bare Paint to add protection dont use products with build in protection, but true polishes or compounds ...then use ipa to remove residue and apply your protection of choice.
4. Dont buy in the future very expensive tools, specially polishers expecting better results.

Well, I’m still learning. But for the glass enhancement that I did. Which does not do any form of correcting. Are used speed 4. And I only used the white pads by CarPro. So I’m using the least aggressive pads. And to my knowledge you can use whatever pad you want with compound. Hope this helps. Please do some of your own research. Regarding equipment, towels, applicators,and product. Buy the best you can afford. Starting out money is tight, but as you get more business, invest some $ into upgrading your stuff.
A cheap towel can ruin your hard work. A cheap polish will do the same.
I would recommend you watch Pan the Organizer channel. He tests a lot of products and is very professional and knows what he’s doing, and what he talks about.
Give the customer quality work, don’t half ass anything and your business will grow.

Wow. The cost of living must be really high in your area. Here in the UK, customers would want their cars washing for nothing every week for the rest of the year for $350.00. That equates to about £300 in England. To charge that price in England I'd have to either include an interior detail or put a cheap ceramic coating on it, at least.
Tell me a bout it. This city has grown to the point where lots of natives and original families have moved away, and young tech people have moved in. So there are a lot of younger rich people here now.
