Yes, it was quite superior to even linux approach. main concern is security. thats why we no longer user XP. those NTs were too easy to twerk and hack. Nowdays using diretory and opening remote control other than local lan is dangerous. other solutions are tunnels from 3 parties like anydesk, or using a local server with firewall or linux server or cloud service to deal with your own tunnels. Elegant but unsecure.
