Im amazed at the farmer mentality of spending thousand's of dollars on farm equipment then leave it out in the open for years on end! Just because it was designed to operate in extreme conditions doesn't mean that it should be stored in extreme conditions! Just an old heavy diesel mechanic saying! You can protect it now or pay guys like me after you've abused your equipment!
@@Frank-Thoresenhahaha I experience that everyday, “it’s been making a horrible grinding noise for about four months now it won’t move, we’d like to have it up and back to work in 15 minutes”

I've never seen a Massy Ferguson tractor like that it must be a rare old thing with tracks on as well it's good you drained the oil/water out of the engine I hope you get it cleaned up and give it good grease up and service and some sort of paint job on it 👍
So watching this pull out of a field the onliest fortlift that could have left that field that day was this tracked Massy. I did watch you drive back and forth over either a light or grease gun driven into the turf never to be seen again by man. Since it had a hook on it I assume a light.
So the question on my mind is how does it steer? I can see you turning the steering wheel and the tractor slews around but how? Must be more of a modification than just throwing on the tracks.
That is a great tractor and unusual to see on tracks. I was quite amazed to see how easy it started up. What grade of engine oil was that, it looked like some modern synthetic stuff? Good to see the ole girl being put inside out of the weather and hopefully sorted out and used one day. Did you try the forklift attachment? I noticed that you praked the tractor next to a modified Lightweight Series 3 Land Rover with a truck cab on it, did you put it on the Range Rover chassis or does it belong to someone else? A video on that would be interesting too.
It’s 5w30 oil that was put in to flush the bad stuff out it’s right to run for short periods on the lighter oil. It is indeed a lightweight on a 200tdi discovery chassis. I have a bit of work to do on it so I’ll have some videos later in the year.
Loved the 188 multi power Great tractor Id imagine the top speed wont be great off the hub size but id love to restore it Ive a bonser with a good mast id use
a good add for the 1 saeris massey .............we had a mf 165 .....212 engine square axle ......punched well above its weight and could not be killed .........and we tried hard to kill it ..........!
What an interesting conversion. Could you tell us what the undercarriage came from, and whether you can still use 3 point linkage implements or do the rear idlers prevent some of them from being used? How did you decide what diameter to make the sprockets? I'd guess you'd figure the top speed as a wheel tractor, the ideal top speed of a tracked machine (say 7mph), and then just calculate the sprocket size to reduce it to that speed? Since it's a forklift, I imagine that the undercarrriage is non-oscillating?
Hey there the 3 point linkage still works as intended we used it for harvesting potatoes and ploughing. The under carriage came from 2 case drott loading shovels that were welded need to end and the sprocket is the one from the loader with the centre cut out and the centre from a tractor rim welded in. Too speed is about 15mph but it’s bumpy at that speed it’s more for low speed jobs.
That would be a very unusual restoration project. It would command a lot of attention at shows etc. I do have one question though. Are you going to keep the steering wheel?
Must have been made up to be a Bog Trotter and very handy it must have been to handle peat. I have owned Llandini / Massey Crawlers but this is a very different thing.Very Interesting

Matt from Diesel Creek will almost always make sure it starts before putting any time into oh, changing oil, etc. first. The crap flows out better warm... What a waste of a tractor!! Or what a waste of a forklift!!
Luckily in this case I’m not matt. If I had started that without changing it would have been dead in minutes. It’s different with some of the bigger stuff he works on where oil for it costs hundreds of dollars.

Although the farmers always complain, they obviously have too much money💰
That's what farmers are like
Same with construction companies. Lack of maintenance and complain when repairs takes a week.

So the steering wheel doesn’t actually do any thing. It’s steered using the side brakes.

Just a habit to turn it. Yes it is steered with the brakes

Harvesting potatoes
Good old Perkins
