It's astonishing the amount of atheist who flock to these videos. I find it difficult to find time to comment and engage on vidoes I like and agree with; I can't imagine making time to binge watch content that I believe holds no value to my life whatsoever, and then commenting on said content.

It's simple really: curiosity. As an atheist, it's pretty normal to accept that billions of people are religious simply because that's how they were raised, essentially their particular context. But when you start with someone that is educated, a scientist, and an atheist, and then they convert to any religion? That makes me very curious. For the simple reason that I find it incomprehensible for somebody to do that. Unfortunately, watching this sheds no light on what actually convinced her (thankfully it was short). In contrast, the description of the conversion of Francis Collins is much more interesting.

If you have less free time than most people that's okay, maybe others just have more free time, and they not only get to watch the videos they like but also videos that challenge them. Its not terribly complicated and I'm not sure they're "binge watching" this content either.

@@hongotedesco8931 If you watch the full video she goes into a little bit of detail, not much. She talks about how the resurrection of jesus seemed persuasive. But somehow that wasn't the main point of her commentary, almost like she wasn't convinced by it alone. She spent the bulk of her time discussing how accessible Christianity was and the gift of jesus. Frankly it seems she was never an atheist, more like someone searching for reasons to believe and when she read the bible her brain relented and said finally I can believe in something beside a random universe.
In other words I think it was just pure feelings based; she derived comfort from religion. I don't think there was any intellectual content at all, which is sad because it seems her intelligence is compartmentalized solely in terms of creating useful engineering applications.

    • @AntonsClass

@@radscorpion8 I find it difficult to find time to engage and comment of content I do enjoy and agree with, yes. Time is one of our most precious resources, and often spent unwisely by many. So for me, I certainly don't have (or make) time to engage on content I don't find value in, when there are countless other things I can spend time doing that add value to my life. Perhaps for them, engaging on videos they dislike and devalue somehow *adds* value to their lives, I suppose. And to your point, it is one thing to watch a video that challenges you, it's another thing entirely to spend time belittling and devaluing the experience of the person in said video. Let's make that distinction clear. It is more than evident when someone is exploring and challenging a POV, and when someone is spending their time belittling and devaluing a POV.

Pleas understand. The wisdom of all other religions is borrowed from from God since the creation of the world. All non-Christion religions are to be considered cults because their borrowed wisdom is man searching for God. Man made religion. Christianity through the teachings of Jesus is a loving God reaching out to His people. We learn to love God because He loves us first and will respond to our love in return. Pray to our loving God and see what doors He will open for you. God bless.

Men who are dead and have been dead for centuries They have been immortalized in rocks and shrines with nothing, not even a picture of these mortal dead man. So what are the dead men going to do for you. You might as well pray to your wrist watch or some gold or silver statue and see if anyone responds. Guarantee to you you will get zip. Follow their wise words and you will be just as dead as them.
Now, as for Christianity, it is not man made, it is God made, the One who created the whole universe and everything in it. Christianity is not complicated. Just get down on your knees and ask Jesus to come into your life and he will, because He is alive. You are going to say B.S. and prove it. To this I respond, disprove it. Get on you knees and if noting happens, you have not a thing to lose. Do it where no one can see you or hear you, just like it says in the Bible. It was men that created christianity, just like men created all other religions. For centuries after jesus they'd have these ecumenical councils where they would "decide" what/who jesus really was. There were multiple factions arguing different things, and one faction won out. That's what we have today. But of course, not really, since now we have a multitude of schisms and different variations on the same theme.
And no, jesus doesn't come into my life, I have asked, especially in very dire circumstances, and I hear....................................nothing.
And yes, it's all BS. Now, I don't have to prove it's BS, you're the one that has to prove that your extraordinarily fantastic assertion is true. I would agree that there is nothing about atheism that requires them to declare God an impossibility. He went to far there.
That being said, it is a belief system. At the core of any atheist is, "I am not convinced by the evidence that God exists and so I don't believe He does. Give me more convincing evidence and I might some day." So at the core, an atheist doesn't believe God exists. How many times have you or other atheists use the quip, "You only believe in 1 more God then me. You are atheists towards all the others."
You prove this point. You claim atheism is not a belief and then say, "Its just not accepting your imaginary "sky daddy." Calling my sky daddy "imaginary" is a positive claim. You believe that my sky daddy is imaginary, therefore your atheism is in fact a belief. So can you prove that my sky daddy is imaginary or are you holding to that belief in blind faith?
This is a foundational element of any worldview. For instance it effects your view of morality. If your an atheist that there is no reason to believe God exists and so you don't believe God exists then your morality is a horizontal relationship. As soon as you believe a God likely exists then your morality becomes a vertical relationship. If you don't believe that God exists which is just another way of saying you believe God doesn't exist, then you are forced to believing everything has a evolutionary development. So for you, all religions will be explained in relationship to each other so similarities between religion become obvious evidence for borrowing from one to another over time.

In the modern context of Jews in America and Christians in America, you are incorrect as well, as both share similar nuclear family models, work ethic, loyalty to country, and adherence to their faith, whether they practiced it outwardly or not.

Organized human social groups understood that certain behavior was best in order to maintain social order and civility. In fact Zoroastrianism is thought by many historians to have preceded Christianity and it taught many of the same principles that are in the Bible. It was big news a few years back when archeologists unearthed a burial box containing some bones and there was an inscription on the side that read "James, the brother of Jesus" and many religious people claimed that was evidence of the biblical Jesus. Given the fact that Jesus was a fairly common name in ancient Palestine, the fact is it could've been ANYone named Jesus who had a brother named James. So it isn't "proof" of any evidence of the biblical Jesus. Even the Jewish historian Josephus who lived in Rome at the time mentioned a religious sect leader named Jesus and some myths if his miracles. But Josephus Never met the biblical Jesus and everything he wrote was what Josephus had been told by others third-hand, world of mouth. Unfortunately word of mouth testimony is not all that reliable. Dear Mr Gutkind,
Inspired by Brouwer’s repeated suggestion, I read a great deal in your book, and thank you very much for lending it to me. What struck me was this: with regard to the factual attitude to life and to the human community we have a great deal in common. Your personal ideal with its striving for freedom from ego-oriented desires, for making life beautiful and noble, with an emphasis on the purely human element. This unites us as having an “unAmerican attitude.”
Still, without Brouwer’s suggestion I would never have gotten myself to engage intensively with your book because it is written in a language inaccessible to me. The word God is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weakness, the Bible a collection of honorable, but still purely primitive, legends which are nevertheless pretty childish. No interpretation, no matter how subtle, can change this for me. For me the Jewish religion like all other religions is an incarnation of the most childish superstition. And the Jewish people to whom I gladly belong, and whose thinking I have a deep affinity for, have no different quality for me than all other people. As far as my experience goes, they are also no better than other human groups, although they are protected from the worst cancers by a lack of power. Otherwise I cannot see anything “chosen” about them.
In general I find it painful that you claim a privileged position and try to defend it by two walls of pride, an external one as a man and an internal one as a Jew. As a man you claim, so to speak, a dispensation from causality otherwise accepted, as a Jew the privilege of monotheism. But a limited causality is no longer a causality at all, as our wonderful Spinoza recognized with all incision, probably as the first one. And the animistic interpretations of the religions of nature are in principle not annulled by monopolization. With such walls we can only attain a certain self-deception, but our moral efforts are not furthered by them. On the contrary.
Now that I have quite openly stated our differences in intellectual convictions it is still clear to me that we are quite close to each other in essential things, i.e; in our evaluations of human behavior. What separates us are only intellectual “props” and “rationalization” in Freud’s language. Therefore I think that we would understand each other quite well if we talked about concrete things.
With friendly thanks and best wishes,
    Yours,
    A. Einstein

It couldn't exist without the contradiction. The contradiction is its whole substance. So if you don't know this, you haven't studied its supposed derivation.
