This song breaks my heart. I served in Afghanistan and on my second tour in 2010 a very nice American lady called Betty Hidalgo, sent care packages to me and my men, she didn’t know us, we weren’t American, but when I wrote to her and spoke to her, this is her story. As a young girl her man proposed to her before going to Vietnam, he did not come home. She never met anyone else and dedicated her life to supporting soldiers overseas and it is my greatest honour to have called her my friend.
@@emily4gov thank you Emily, she was a really great woman, sadly we lost touch when I left the military, but I was always in awe of just how much support she gave to us. There were times when the resupply chopper would land at our FOB and a huge stack of American boxes would be dropped of for my team. Her and her friends must have spent an absolute fortune just to make the lives of US and British troops a bit more bearable. My daughter was born during that deployment (turning 14 this year) and Betty sent cards and gifts to me for her. The woman was an Angel.
I am a two-time Vietnam Vet. I lost a lot of friends there, and a large part of my soul. When I was 18 and in basic I was called out to perform in the honor guard for a soldier's funeral - a friend of mine from high school. I have never stopped crying I think. The Dixie Chicks may have been reviled by many, but I can only say thank you for this song.
I have decided to make a comment here after some thought. I have kept this info close to my heart for 53 years now and am getting old and wearing out. This song speaks directly to me. I dedicate this comment to Sgt. Jessee Frank Morgan and Cpl . Auburn Foreman. They both died beside me on a worthless little hillside in Dec. 1965. Both were my close friends. As a medical corpsman, I did my best but they did not make it and I was badly wounded. I have never posted their names before but this lovely song seems the right place to recognize them. Semper Fi buddies and Jesse, your son is a fine young man. I talk to him regularly and told him all about u and how u died.
@@carolmoore1038 thanks Carol. It was our duty and we did our best. I served with America's finest young mem. I was honored to be beside them. I am now 74 and reaching the end but the memories never left me.
I am a Vietnam veteran and this song brings a lot memories back after 3 tours I finally came home and now I am almost 75 and the memories are more vivid Semper-fi to all my brothers. ( Gary )
I cannot hear this without tears just streaming down my cheeks, you know this has, and IS happening hundreds, thousands of times...For what? We keep doing this over and over and over again...Sacrificing young men for some old grey lawyers-politician's vanity...
War is so pointless in my eyes. May all the soldiers who were lost to war rest in peace, and may the soldiers that have scars, not just physical, but mental, find peace and refuge. ❤
@@Writing_poetry_dance war is humanity part of it it has always been and always will be there wouldn't be a use with out war sometimes it is needed and others not needed war is for the young to carry out ordered by the old
Bless you iam a vet of the Gulf War some thing that I hope I never have to do again. I was a doc ..and seen horrible things. Blless all vets Graham cpl uk.
This is an emotionally wrenching song. The storyline carries you, the harmonies sooth you, and the layers of the instruments fill your heart until at the end the drum cadence bruises what is left of your soul. It leaves me in tears. Every. Time.
I am of the opinion that literally every drum cadence such as is displayed in this song needs to go on for a minimum of one more measure, completely unaccompanied. When paying tribute to servicemen, just let the snare have their moment to shine as the inherently martial instrument it is.
Their best song, their best performance. Nothing like great talent performing live, no flashing lights, no dancing girls, no auto-tune, no fireworks, no top hats or gaudy costumes, just great music.
@@davideshenbaugh1468 I'll check out his version. Although a cover, it's still their best song. Plenty of songs first recorded by others didnt make it, but the covers became giant hits. Maybe Robison wrote it so he reaped some royalties. Is he Charlie Robison's brother?
My brother is a Vietnam Veteran. Thankfully, he was one of the ones that made it home. This song makes me think not only of him but of my daddy, who was a WWII veteran. He, too, came home, but with many scars, both physical and mental. Gets me every time. To any vet who may be reading this, thank you for your service. And especially for the Vietnam veterans, Welcome Home!

I was a British soldier for 30 years I had no one to come home to, I fought for my country in 5 wars then I met my angel who is my wife now and this song reminds me of how I met her and had to leave her but she's stood by my side through everything, all I can say is when I hear it it makes a battle hardened man cry
May God Bless you for your service and dedication to your country and it’s citizens. I’m a Proud American and my family came over from Scotland in 1793 but anyone who has sacrificed as much as you have to help ensure the safety of so many deserves credit and appreciation from anyone and everyone. … this really is a great tune and even as much as I despise the Dixie Chicks they really do an awesome job with it. I love hearing it but man it sure is hard to listen to.
I have been that lonely teenaged soldier. This song never fails to moisten my eyes and put a lump in my throat. A classic song for the ages. Well done.
I have never listened to this song without crying like a five year old. I remember, as a little girl, watching the soldiers who fought in Vietnam coming off the plane. God bless every one of them and may Gods rest those who never came home. May they rest peacefully in the arms of the Lord. ❤️🙏🏼
Aww 🥰 Georgegem 💎 I love ❤️ you and Thank You 🙏🏿 for your service ! All these Government officials , should be ashamed of themselves & fired at once . Honestly and I feel they don’t give a dammed , because they’re all career politicians . And have absolutely nothing to worry about , they live in lavished mansions & get paid very well to do absolutely NOTHING . It’s just so WRONG 😑 & I have 2- young nephews that recently enlisted in the Army . And their parents , friends & I begged them not to go . But they went anyway , and just like the United States 🇺🇸 it’s sending by now billions of dollars , to UKRAINE 🇺🇦 . And I agree they need help , but what’s going to happen to US 🇺🇸 ?? Our children , grandchildren & great grandchildren will have to pay 💰. Ridiculous amounts of taxes , to come up with that money 💴 for the big deficit . And thank hate the USA 🇺🇸 it’s sending all this money 💴 to ISRAEL 🇮🇱 , because all they want it’s the land !! But innocent 😇 people are literally dying of hunger , every single day !! And the images on tv 📺 and Newspapers it’s horrible 😤, many children are now orphaned !! Who’s going to take care of them & Benjamin Netanyahu , it’s just pure EVIL 👹👺. Because he won’t let the trucks 🛻 that are loaded with food 🥘, water 💦, clothing , formula for babies 👶 & the bare essentials ! And the images literally give me nightmares , when you see mothers holding their newborn 👶 babies dead 💀 ! And crying 😭 , and I truly feel so sorry 😢 for the Palestinian people . They have suffered for over 75 years & it’s all about taking over the land , and Benjamin DEVIL NETANYAHU said it . He won’t stop 🛑 until there’s no more Palestinian , but yet they don’t want the whole world 🌎. About the genocide in 1945 when Hitler killed a lot of their people ! But don’t they see what they’re doing ?? And that’s just so WRONG 😑 & all they come up it’s blame HAMAS ! It’s just ridiculous , and when they send missiles to the RAFHA encampment. ! People thought they were finally safe , and he had the nerve to say “ it was an honest mistake “ And I’m thinking 🤔 really , really ! Anyway I hope you’re doing well & hope that if you’re married .You’re happy 😊 with your wife & children . And if you’re not , there’s a nice girl out there for you ! Sorry 😞 for the long comment ( script ) lol 😂 , please take care ! And may God Blessed you , your family & all your loved 🥰 ones . Today , tomorrow & always ! 🙏🏿❤️😭🌎🇺🇸🇮🇱👎🤬😡💎
@@rosaa658 Jesus is coming. Read 1 Corinthians 15:1 (this is so very important) then read the book of Ezekiel in the Old Testament and, or course, Matthew 24. Perhaps, this will help you to understand what is happening in real time. All that is going on now is written in the Bible. Israel and the Jewish people belong to the one true God and He won’t allow it to be taken. The Jews are God’s chosen people and He will protect them. The Palestinians (HAMAS, incidentally Hamas means “violence”) have vowed to rid the world of Jews and take the land that was given to Jewish people through Abraham. It won’t stop. This is a kill or be killed situation, hence, October 7th and Israel’s retaliation. The fighting will wain during the tribulation (no one wants to be around for this. Seek salvation) and a “so called peace” will come as a deception, in the end, God will win. May the Lord Jesus touch your heart with comfort and bless you abundantly with His love and His holy word. 🙏🏼🕊️
So you know...the reason we all cry when listening to this touching song is because it speaks of truth. So many died, so many severely disabled, so many still dying...inside. I was one of the lucky ones on draft (352), but I think about the Vietnam vets and their families every day. Just in case we forgot to say...thanks.

i feel this is a tribute to the girls, wives that waited for us to come back home. My fiance at the time, later to be my wife of 45 years sent endless care packages, cards and letters that helped me make it home! I lost her six years ago and miss her to this day! She is the rock of my life!
The Dixie Chicks saved helped me get through a very dark time in my life. Their music and lyrics resonated in my soul. I still listen to them and it takes me back with gratitude and joy when I first discovered their music and talent. Will be forever grateful and always inspired by their lyrics. ❤
This was a big hit for them ..Too bad Natalie ran her mouth in another Country putting the USA down, because Dixie Chics went down hill after that ..but listen to Cody Johnson sing this now ...iso glad he brought it back to honor our Vietnam Vets .
I hardly ever speak of this anymore , but this song has opened my heart. I was 19 and my husband was 20. We married right out of high school as many people did in the mid-60's. We had been married about six months, when the the government instilled the "lottery draft" for the VietNam war and my husband's birthday was the first date drawn. He made it about six months in VietNam, and left me a widow at 20. I didn't think I could go on, but my parents forced me to enroll in college. My life went over and I finally married and had two lovely children; and now four grandchildren. No one we know has any knowledge of my first marriage and I never speak of it. The wounds are there, but I hold them deep inside. I see his face a lot of nights before I fall asleep and I talk to him a lot. First love is difficult to recover from, especially when it ends so tragically. I think about VietNam and can never justify why we sacrified so many of our boys for a country we can hardly find on the map. It will be a mystery to me until I die. This song is beautiful and speaks to me so personally.
Thank you for your daddy's service. This song speaks to me as well. My great-aunt lost her fiance at war. She never married and carried her broken heart to her death several years ago. She never spoke of him, my guess is it was too painful. I never knew of their story until after she passed away when we came across letters and a locket necklace with his picture. It was heartbreaking. This song makes me think of their sad story of love and loss.😪
My daddy was in the army and his buddy got hurt and my daddy carried him to safety even though he didn't make it... My daddy was my rock and I lost him to cancer 15 years ago and when I hear this song I think of his bravery and I give a huge THANK YOU to all our veterans... This song still makes me cry... It really hits home... I love and miss you daddy!!!❤😢
56 Years ago I too was a soldier in Vietnam. As I approach 79 the memories are more vivid than ever. So many died fighting a war that had no end. We gave it our all, many with their lives. Thank you brothers for your sacrifices.
Yesterday was D-Day. I could not post this then, because of the emotion. I was not in WWII - not born yet - but was in Vietnam - twice. I know the pain - I lived it. I had several uncles that served in WWII. Honored men - all of them. For the men that never make it back from our stupid, stupid wars - May You Rest in Peace and find all glory in heaven...sic fin!

What a beautiful song. I'm a Vietnamese, I have an American friend who was drafted for the war in Vietnam and survived it to tell his story. And somehow Vietnam has a special place in his heart, so he always tried to come back and visit us at least once a year ❤
My husband was a physical therapist during early sixties. He was stationed at the hospital in Tokyo that the wounded came to right from the MASH units. These wonderful warriors were never forgotten by him. He loved this song. He passed away 21/2 years ago and we put this song on right next to his ear and he passed away to this song with one tear from his eye down his cheek. God bless all soldiers and those who love them and will never forget them.
I am a grown man also. This song brings tears to my eyes every single time I listen to it. I have always hid my tears from embarrassment. Reading these comments has made me proud of those tears. Thank you so very much for helping me grow as a human being. ❤
Excellent tribute. I'm a vet and was a traveling sailor. The first time I played this song to my young daughters 20 years ago, they asked about the girl with the bow in her hair.
Never heard this song before today, it brought tears to this old mans eyes. I thank these girls for this song, and all my brothers and sisters who fought long ago, and fight today so we can all be free.

Thanks to you both for your service to this great country. My father-in-law was drafted to the war and still can’t discuss the atrocities that he witnessed. I love this song and it really hits home. Take care and be safe out there.
I was born February 1967 my father was killed in June 1967. We never met. I had a beautiful mother who raised me to know my father and the love they had. He was 20 she was18. I lost her in1996 to cancer at 47 years old. When I hear this song I think of them both and know GOD is with them and me. I know this song touches a lot of us children who lost a loved one in Vietnam, and the noble people that were part of this war may GOD bless us all.

These three women break my heart every time I hear this song. Thank you ladies for a great song by true patriots about our national tragedy and the losses we all felt.
As an Veteran of the US Army, who served his country during the Vietnam War. The sadness of this song hits home. I was 17 years old. Even those the came back were never the same. No body wanted us. Many still suffer from PTSD or drug addiction. It took more than 20 after the war before the government even started to aid these heroes.
Amen brother i spent my 18th b-day in boot camp and yes even family treated me like what are you doing here. PTSD has ruled my life !!! if you read my comments as a MP prison guard and 101st infantry I seen things and was called to do things I can never un see or undo.
This song I listen to and dedicate for our fallen military men and women we just lost in Afghanistan a sad day for America for we all mourn the loss of you.

This song hits me hard, in a very odd way: My father was a drill instructor in the army before I was born. He trained a number of platoons, and quit the military just after I was born, because he didn't want to be deployed away from family for long months/years. A few years ago, he confessed that he still gets calls from grieving widows, asking if he can attend the funerals of men he trained, that died while deployed. Most of them moved to the US because they wanted to be heroes. Wanted to go to war and put their skills to use. He showed me platoon photos of the men he trained, and several of them show almost completely blanked out faces. Almost all the men in the platoon are now dead. Almost all the men he trained have gone to war, and not made it home. It was the only time in my life that I've ever seen my father cry. He thinks he didn't train them well enough, and that's why they never made it home. Songs like this have hit very hard since he told me that.
@@DeathsHood I think all of us who served paid a price, each in their own way, that most will never know or understand. Tell your father, from one Vet to another, to rest easy. He did the best he could. That's all any of us can do. 😔😔😔
Just the way that the song ends with just the echoing beats from the drum...chills. Give me this sort of patriotic song anyday over a song who's patriotism revolves around shoving boots up other human beings backside iykyk
this song was on another level, and anti-jodi letter to soldiers abroad. i loved this song before I was a soldier and I love it now 10yrs after being one.
Thanks to all who served. Thanks for sharing your beautiful stories. I myself cannot listen to this song without shedding a tear or two. Thanks to the Chicks for a beautiful song.
I appreciate all of the bands, companies, or whoever has seen that their names were affiliated with the past. The indecent past. Abhorrent past. We today didn't do the things our grandparents did. We cannot be blamed. What we can do is educate ourselves on how to move forward. Nothing to do with military, religion, just did it hurt someone? Can I change the direction?
I cry every time I hear this song. I couldn't sing it without crying. Thank you to all our service men and women for your sacrifice and the Dixie Chicks for singing about and remembering them. ❤️❤️
Well Christina this is Joseph Bomba I did 10 years in the United States Marine corps and I'm very patriotic and it's hard to swallow but yes it is very bitter about the military and songs and movies none of it has ever been beautiful as long as we're pawns for corrupt governments
One of the most powerful dedications to veterans ever made. As an ex-combat medic I feel every word in this song. However, I severed, and sometimes that is far easier than staying at home worrying about those who have gone away............
One of the real tributes to our finest soldiers. They didn't ask for the war, they were told to go. Terrible treatment when and if they came home. I had several vietnam vet friends sadly not with us anymore. I hold utmost respect for Vietnam soldiers and thank them when I see their hats. You said it right. It is that chemistry that picked up three distinct elements into a perfect whole. They are one of the real treasures in music that our world ever had. Who will not be amazed by this performance?
I keep coming back to it too. I know I'm supposed to be this tough combat vet. But I wrote letters like that talked about my fears. Unfortunately she died before i did. And i cant shake the feeling it's my fault. Anyway, this a beautiful song.
I'm a British ex medic for the RAF. I didn't ever experience the horror you both speak of, but I did serve in Iraq. I can't imagine what you went through. My heart goes out to anyone who lost anybody in that pointless war. You don't have to serve to be brave you just have to speak up against it and risk the fallout. These girls did this. Respect.
Every since I first heard this song, it causes tears to well up in my eyes. I served 30 years in the Army, starting out as a single GI. I met several single girls enroute to my first tour in Vietnam as I traveled by Greyhound bus across the USA and they felt sad for me. Then I was called to serve a second tour to Vietnam a few years later, was married with a child and wife being left in the states after traveling from Germany to home and having a child born while in VietNam. And yes, My wife was in service when I met her, and we now have been married 53 years and counting, having had 8 beautiful children and watching grand children and great grandchildren come into the world. And this song carries us back to our beginnings!!
Tears. Every. Time. 😭This song just hits home even if you have no real ties to the storyline. My grandfather was in WWII and wrote letters to my grandma, Im so thankful he made it home to her and our family so I could meet him when i was born. ❤
That chorus lyric that says Never wanna be alone, when a letter says the soldier's coming home. It happened and happened alot. Give mad respect for our veterans and their families. Talk about sacrifice ❤️
I'm named after a man who at 18 years old fought and died on Hamburger Hill. Respect I can't show enough. I get chills every time I see this or hear the song at all
Absolutely one of the very best songs ever written, performed by three incredibly talented and thoughtful human beings. Everything about this is beautiful. The melody. The lyrics. Their souls. It's just such a blessing to listen to them.
My son joined the army when he was straight out of high school , barely 18 , he is my hero for sure and I love hime beyond words or reason , a mother's love never ends nor a father's . I pray for his and all those around him to be and remain safe. Returning home is what I dream when I dream of him and the soldiers whom are with him. I love you George Tristan more than you possibly know ❤
Music doesn't usually emotionally affect me much but this song makes me blubber like a baby. One of the few songs that brings tears to my eyes. The snare ending is perfect too. Thank you Chicks.
The first time I heard this I was in Afghanistan and it was played on the radio shortly before I was rehearsing a repatriation duty that would happen later on that evening for a Marine from my unit that was killed. Every time I hear it now, it provokes such emotion in me. I think about the dismembered bodies I carried as they made their final journeys home. I think about the families, friends and loved ones. I think about how there is now a void in so many lives that can never be replaced. I think about love. I think about war. I think about my son, and the sister he will have in 10 days. I think about how lucky I am to have life a head of me but at the same time an overwhelming sense of sadness that so many were not able to return from war and live the lives that they would have lived. I think. I reflect. I remember. Rest In Peace Damian, Georgie, Tony, John, Steven, Damien, Marc, Ben and Mick.
"The first time I heard this I was in Afghanistan and it was played on the radio shortly before I was rehearsing a repatriation duty that would happen later on that evening for a Marine from my unit that was killed" Then you switched off Call of Duty and went to bed, right?

RedJoe10 Real men do whats needed to be done. They don't kill civvies. If you haven't noticed yet, the Taliban and ISIS are the ones that kill civvies. Their own people. Have respect for those that fight for you. They give you the right to have that opinion. Airman, sailors, Soldiers and Marines alike. They pay the ultimate price, with blood, sweat and tears. They deserve the utmost respect.
I do have respect for them. But just not the weird almost pornographic hero worship that Americans have, that treats them like untouchable gods unless they're made mentally ill by conflict, then they're soft-assed Communist scroungers who want free healthcare. War is murder. Deal with it.
You're right. War is murder. It's putting the people down, before they put you down. If you don't put them down. They will put you, your brother, mother and daughter down. I'm not american. I'm British. But all warriors deserve my respect. I am currently in the process of joining the British Army. I hope I can do amazing things. What you have to remember is that NATO is building schools, hospitals. We are helping the afghan, police and military get back on it's feet. For the most part, we are just there to help.
Amazing. Gets me every time. After almost 30 years in the military I can’t think of too many songs that move me as much as this one. It moves me almost as much as The Last Post ……
I was four years old when my oldest brother went to Vietnam, and some of my earliest memories are about what that meant for my family. This is a profound song, and it's straight-up about what a lot of Americans and American families have gone through over the decades, not only with Vietnam but also the wars before and since then. Thank God, for us the high school girl with the bow in her hair is now my sister-in-law.
Not a Vietnam vet But as a veteran it brings tears to my eyes thinking of friends that did not make it home Including my favorite 1SGT who extended one last time to make SGM Eric Cooke He died in a IED hit his HMVE on a trip delivering presents Christmas Day to an orphanage. One hell of a great soldier who truly looked out for the troops. Look forward to seeing him some day up in Heaven
Powerful. All I can do is hoist a cold one to all the people that this song hits, and it hits like a ton of bricks. To all my fellow Marines, and everyone that was lost in service to our nation, thank you for what you have done. And for everyone that lost a piece of themselves by losing their loved one to our nation's defense - you are not forgotten.
I say to ALL those who served , not just one branch of our Great Military , God bless you all & Happy Father's Day! I was only in the 1rst & 25 the inf. Div . 3 tours . Do I count ? ALL our blood runs RED!!!!! Not just those that have to have the spotlight!!! Sorry if I a lowly U.S. Army Soldier , who volunteered hurt your feelings , ....... Not ,lol Viet Nam Vet , Tom
Except the senate just blocked the help that could rescue the lives of some veterans and help their families simply by keeping the promises made to them. End of July, 2022.
I could not take it. I was bawling by the end. As much as I sometimes hate it, I was totally overwhelmed by God’s Empathetic Spirit, and He let me feel everything He feels for soldiers in a war zone. “Overwhelming” does not explain it. Overcome by the vastness and density of emotion is more like it. This is all not even taking into account that I graduated high school in 2000 and had many friends shipped off to the Middle East - and yes, some of them did not come back alive. This song is so profound. I both love it and cry every time I hear it. I was there when it first came out under the name Dixie Chicks. This song is heavy!
Always get goosebumps listening to this perfect song of love, honor, and empathy. War kills...war hurts...forever. Blessings to these talented and courageous women. Love and goodness.
@@geoffwilliams6991 Yes, the warriors on the battle field and support positions giving so much for our Democratic rights and values, of equality, innate freedoms of dignity of humankind tempered with restrictions of freedoms necessary to form a government with laws, taxations, investments and services in public structural improvements, land mass, environmental protections and reclamation, health, safety, security, enhancement, education, scientific research, artistic enjoyment, fair voting, fair monetary system, military strength, on and on and on. Also, the peace makers, and brilliant artists like the Chicks that remind of our connectiveness and care for life and well-being is what makes us great, our empathy as a nation, and our generousity of wealth, prayer, and presence that forms an unbreakable bond that our American Democracy and every person is worthy of this glorious nation comprised of hundreds of millions of people from every part of the world share a decency, respect for laws, gratitude for the generations before us, and commitment toward a more perfect union for generations to come. Yes, this perfect song captures that part of each of us, and makes us (U.S) whole.
Thank you for your service, Sir, even though it’s about 50 years overdue. As the daughter of a Vietnam vet, the sister of 2 Gulf War vets, and the mother of a Iraq & Afghanistan War vet, I cry every time I hear it as well. Have you ever heard Airborne Ranger Infantry by Kristy Lee Cook or They Call Me Doc by Walker McGuire. The first one is specifically about Vietnam but I don’t think they mention a time or location in the Doc song. They’re both beautiful but heartbreaking. If you haven’t heard them, you should look them up.
Lost my boyfriend in war in Iraq.his bestfriend carried him back to base where he passed away.miss him everyday.rip kevin .love you to the moon and back. See you soon.
We salute Kevin ! We thank you for his ultimate sacrifice. He died a hero and we graciously appreciate his service to our country. May G-D protect you and may you never know of anymore pain. Amen
I love this song. Not only does it sound so great, but it is also an important message about the horrors of war and the people it leaves heartbroken. We must remember each day that we need to strive for peace, not war and join hands across the world, even though it's not always easy to do. Being on a common ground international camp with the Woodcraft Folk only goes to show even more that people out there do want this. edit: this song reminds me of the times listening to The (Dixie) Chicks with my dad in our flat and how much we love listening to them.
Well, there goes my mascara…thank you for your service and bless Miss Hidalgo. I’d love to meet her to help her out.

This is an emotionally wrenching song. The storyline carries you, the harmonies sooth you, and the layers of the instruments fill your heart until at the end the drum cadence bruises what is left of your soul. It leaves me in tears. Every. Time.
Well said 💕
Such a beautiful way to describe the chicks.
Same.
I am of the opinion that literally every drum cadence such as is displayed in this song needs to go on for a minimum of one more measure, completely unaccompanied. When paying tribute to servicemen, just let the snare have their moment to shine as the inherently martial instrument it is.
Love this song
Their best song, their best performance. Nothing like great talent performing live, no flashing lights, no dancing girls, no auto-tune, no fireworks, no top hats or gaudy costumes, just great music.
Except it isn't their song. It was originally by Bruce Robison. And although I like their version, I am still partial to Bruce's original.
@@davideshenbaugh1468 I'll check out his version. Although a cover, it's still their best song. Plenty of songs first recorded by others didnt make it, but the covers became giant hits. Maybe Robison wrote it so he reaped some royalties. Is he Charlie Robison's brother?
Yes. Brothers.

People thought they were finally safe , and he had the nerve to say “ it was an honest mistake “
And I’m thinking 🤔 really , really !
Anyway I hope you’re doing well & hope that if you’re married .You’re happy 😊 with your wife & children . And if you’re not , there’s a nice girl out there for you !

I agree we have alot soldiers dieing for what and the hurt they put their love ones through

To all Vets out there, I pray you find peace and know how much you're respected. Thank you deep down from my soul!

As an Veteran of the US Army, who served his country during the Vietnam War. The sadness of this song hits home. I was 17 years old. Even those the came back were never the same. No
body wanted us. Many still suffer from PTSD or drug addiction. It took more than 20 after the war before the government even started to aid these heroes.
Sorry to hear that brother, hooe it's better for you now. Thank you for your service from Israel

This song touches the heart of anyone who is/was a Soldier and of anyone who has loved a Soldier. 🇺🇸
Amen!
Absolutely 💯

My God, the beauty, and the talent of this band leaves me just breathless.
Agreed! Their talent is very much underrated!
