    There is no "ignore trainer input" option in Open/EdgeTX, so the trainer mode also gets deactivated when the slave wiggles the sticks as you also pointed out in the video.
    Did you get it to work with Open/EdgeTX?

      OpenTX or EdgeTX just use the “sticks” category and the control. When you do this, you will see a little icon for a gimbal next to the word “Ail”, “Ele”, or “Rud”. If you long press the enter button, it’s easier to see the categories for selecting the variable.

      @@MrD for me it doesn't matter whether I select e.g. the elevator gimbal or the elevator input for the deactivation condition - both trigger on trainee input as well.

      @@froqstar I was back at this problem today. TX16S, Edge 2.8, I have not found a way to make this work. I tried all combinations of "inputs" but sticks, channels, inputs all have the trainer data. I also tried both trainer modes: Add and Replace. Still was not able to come up with a working combination. I love this approach and really wish it was possible with the RM16.

      Sounds like an EdgeTX bug. It worked in OpenTX.

    perfect, Can you set it up like the taranis where you can put extra input into the aircraft without it switching off the trainer. I use to use this all the time if a learner was turning and didn't pull up on the elevator in the tun I would add it for them same as just making small corrections when they need it.

    • @MrD

      I’ve not tried it. But I’m sure this would be possible in the mixer. Just use the trainer input as an additional mix to the control surface, which is switched using a trainer switch.

    Nice video Darren and that will come in handy if I ever do any assisted training....question though, have you used your module bay on the back of the radio and if so, what modules have you used? Thanks!

      Thanks. I’m glad the video helped.
      Yes, I’ve used Crossfire and ELRS modules on the back of the radio.

    I have gotten really close to my desired trainer function by combining the logic switches here:
    th-cam.com/video/030liiCDXYY/w-d-xo.html
    with the the sticky function here:
    th-cam.com/video/AbfUafBQJWM/w-d-xo.html
    Still struggling with the throttle channel though.

    Good vid! Supplementary qu - can I buddy with a Horus X10S on OTX (both ways) ?

      Yes, this shouldn’t be a problem.

    Not related to this video.. so hopefully you see this ,
    How do you change the Start up audio.
    Instead of "welcome to ethos" I want a custom track to play.. I know how to make and add audio files , but idk how to get rid of the welcome to ethos.

    • @MrD
      @MrD  ปีที่แล้ว

      In the audio/system/en folder there is a file called hello.wav. Try changing that. I’ve not tried it myself yet. But have noticed the file.

    Hi Darren I need help. I have set up inav with 3 modes on channel 6, angle, horizon and manual. My controller is radiomaster tx16s and I have put the mode switch on switch SE. However when I arm the plane and put the switch SE in the middle position the motor turns on full throttle all by itself. It doesn't do it in any other mode. Any advise is welcomed.

      Have you added alt hold to any of the modes? That uses auto throttle, so will go to cruise throttle.

    • @billarnall1422
      @billarnall1422 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes I have added altitude hold. How would I overcome problem?

    • @MrD
      @MrD  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Then INAV is working correctly. The real problem is that you are using alt hold, seemingly on Horizon. These days, there is little reason to use alt hold at all on fixed wing. There are other modes that do the job better; for example Cruise. Also, the only mode you should add alt hold to is Angle. It was never made to work with the type of movement you can get in Acro (Horizon is basically Angle mode, which transitions in to Acro).

    Darren, I know how to add a special function to announce “trainer on” with the push of the momentary button but trying to create a special function to announce “trainer off” only once when master sticks are moved. I can do it but it keeps announcing every time the sticks move. I have tried using a logical switch but can’t figure it out. Can you show how to do it, thanks Greg.

    • @MrD
      @MrD  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Greg. If I were setting up these announcements, for the "trainer on" announcement. I'd use the "trainer on" logic switch activate it. For the "trainer off" announcement, I'd make a copy of the "trainer on" special function. Then where the logic switch is to activate, long press the enter button, and select invert. This will then only activate when the trainer is switched off.

    • @gregorymoss7305
      @gregorymoss7305 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Worked like a charm, thanks again, I almost had it was just using the wrong logic switch. This is so I know the trainer mode went off if I inadvertently touched the sticks.

    Darren I have one more question if I may. In your video on the setup I think you mentioned that you did not include the throttle so the master could add power well the slave was active. I have your setup working perfectly on my X20S as master and my X10S Express as slave but when I try to add throttle well the slave is in control I get no response on the output screen. Did I miss understand the reason for not including the throttle stick? Thanks again for your extremely helpful videos. Greg.

    • @gregorymoss7305

      Found the solution, just have to select “ADD” on throttle window on master trainer active condition section.
