I live in Florida and most of the people on the beach are ultra wealthy and they only use the home a few months of the year. Meanwhile us peasants that live inland can’t afford to pay our insurance premiums because they keep going up.

My daughter lives in Southern Alabama... They're getting flooded with rain. Thank God my granddaughter lives in Navarre. She is in the south East in the Gulf and it missed them totally.

No one was missed totally with this storm. I live 50 miles inland and there were power outages and downed trees. And some flooding.

They want us who dont live in these flood prone regions to pay for this with higher insurance rates. Its about time we stand together and say no more. If people insist on building in these places then raise THEIR premiums high enough to cover THEIR OWN damages, and leave the rest of us with common sense alone.

Have some compassion. People put their heart and souls into their houses and many have been there for decades. Or their afraid of looters or afraid they won't be able to go back home. Some are too old or don't have the means to go anywhere. Or there is no where to take their pets. There are lots of reasons.
The reason people stay in Florida despite the annual hurricane season is because we dont have state income tax, plus our businesses aren't being regulated to death, and crime is relatively low compared to other tourist-trap states like NY or CA.
But if anyone asks -- yes it sucks, dont move here. We have pythons, gators, and herpes-ridden spidermonkeys in the wild.

I've lived in Central FL since 1999. Floyd was my first hurricane and I've been through all of them since. Out of the main path of Helene but her outer bands are bringing some gusts and rain here. Power threatened to go out twice and I have some decent sized branches in my yard to clear. You just get used to it after a few of them go by.
It's truly commendable how Trump has shown his care for the people of the East Coast during Hurricane Helene. By personally visiting the disaster zone and donating $25 million from his own pocket, he's demonstrated his commitment to helping those in need during this difficult time. Meanwhile, it’s disappointing that Biden has not yet considered visiting the affected areas, as he seems more focused on providing aid to Ukraine rather than addressing the immediate needs of Americans at home.

Because american sign language is not a verbal language. ASL involves facial expression and movement its kind of hard to explain to someone. Although im not professional Whenever i used to interpret for my mom I would have to summarize what they were saying and put it into signs. If we were at church sometimes she would rather watch people dancing and singing the words rather than reading words so she gets the expression of the words. Deaf people are different and they need to feel and experience. Other languages are verbal they can hear but just dont understand whats being said. In some cases i think subtitles and closed captioning is fine. Like watching a movie or video.
