*sighhhh* Flint doesn't have a metallic sheen, it has a *glassy* sheen, and it isn't very good at starting fires all on its own. The spark from "flint & steel" comes from striking the *steel* because it compresses the steel so hard and fast, it heats up to a glowing hot temperature. What you need is *iron pyrite* (fool's gold, which IS very shiny metallic). You can strike iron pyrite with anything hard & sharp and have a chance to produce a compression-heated scrap of mineral. Flint, chert, obsidian, etc, are all stones that will retain a hard sharp edge long enough to shave off tiny bits of the mineral that are fine enough to heat up and glow, catching alight any pre-prepared extra-dry material, such as: charred cloth, dry punkwood (rotten wood), possibly fine shavings of fatwood (pitch-rich wood from pines, firs, spruces, etc), horse hoof fungus, chaga fungus, etc. But flint (chert, etc) are NOT capable of producing a spark on their own!
@rekkidink I want either the link to the novel or the title name! Is that so much to ask for?! F*** isn't sharing caring why not spread the happiness to everybody!😮💨😒😒😒😒
Please update soon this is a good survival story. Thank you for your time I can’t wait to see where this goes ❤

@, I’m with you on that point but do you understand that you’re asking for thick gravy?! The word you intended is: source.
