@@turn1_shorts My E60 M5 has been very reliable considering it’s a very early 06’ car. It’s had typical BMW issues over the 10 years I’ve owned it but it’s nothing like the internet would have you believe. These cars get abused and poorly maintained, then guys buy them and have serious issues. My car made it to 151k before I had the entire drivetrain rebuilt last summer. I changed the oil every 3k miles, ignoring the factory 10k oil change intervals and let it warm up before every drive. They’re expensive to maintain because not many shops will even touch an S85. Those that do charge a premium. I test drove a M550i and considered buying it before my rebuild. It was fast but had no soul. Great car but there’s nothing on the road that sounds and behaves like the E60 M5. I’ll keep it for as long as I can.
Agreed this will be the last gen that is great ! M/// Hybrids will be amazing performers but it just won’t be the same . Millennials are the ones that suffer . We finally have some money and the options are disappearing . Why I said screw it and bought my g80 . I cannot drive a hybrid or EV it just won’t happen . Younger people won’t know the difference. People actually brag about driving hybrids/EVs as if they are car people . Honestly if it doesn’t have three pedals I don’t even consider it a sports car . In 2024 we have about 15-20 cars left. M5 e28 is one of my favorite cars but I couldn’t buy a 35 year old car for 80k so the g80 was kind of the new era m5 if you really think about it . Great vid !
Great perspective! I hope you're enjoying your G80 so far. Honestly, in terms of size, it kind of is a spiritual successor to the M5s of old. Similarly the G87 M2 to the original M3.

Don't be too hard on the M division. Regulations are making it harder for automakers to make fun cars. I'm looking forward to the G90 M5... But I'm more excited for the first electric M3 in 2026 and the Neuerl Klasse cars. I know the Chinese have had an electric 3 series for over five years now. But I'm curious what they can do with a bespoke EV platform. It seems the ICE has reached it's final form. Everyone's just been refining engines rather than create new ones. So imma be jumping onto that EV wagon pretty soon.
F90 is the last M5 that had lost weight, attained AWD, and gained power. It's lighter than the M550i and has more power, it's still true to the formula. The G90 will be a far outcry from that. The F90 was a perfect evolution of the F10 in my opinion. Interior quality went up, and it was the gen right before the curved display. I've used iDrive 8.5 and it's terrible. The fact EVERYTHING is within the menus is a user interface from hell approach.
Excellent opinion! I do agree that the F90 was the perfect evolution of the F10 and applaud the weight savings. That is something that will be absolutely unavoidable with the G90.

It really is... and it's even more disappointing for me to admit it since I've been a BMW fan my whole life.
