    As a-month-old beginner, I generally have struggle with my positioning and pushings. I had to give a little break because of bad weather conditions, so the struggle may be little more now. Today, I am to hit the spot and this is going to be my first practice. Thank you a lot. This is the best skateboarding tutorial channel I’ve found so far. Greetings from Turkey.

    Among the lots of videos I watched here about learning how to push, this channel was the only one that mentioned how important the positioning of your head is. And that's why this is, by far, the best channel with the most detailed videos for beginners. No cap, it's really THAT good and that detailed.
    I would also add to REALLY figure out if you're regular or goofy. I had a really hard time re-learning how to push after a 30 year hiatus, mostly because I tried to skate regular and push with my right foot. I couldn't get confortable on the board, had a couple of hard falls, and was actually considering just giving it up, again. I decided to try the goofy stance, and started practicing at home, just getting on and off the board. I found out I felt MUCH more confortable, and that I could keep my balance on one leg much more easily, which is essential for pushing.
    Cheers

    This is incorrect please don't push toes only it'll hurt your calf, feet, and lower back. You're supposed to roll from the ball of your feet and then end on your toes at the end of the push. That'll give you a smoother push and it won't be hurting yourself. If you rather take these guys tutorials to find out if I'm telling the truth by all means try out there technique and see how much your body will hurt after skating 5+ miles

    • @SkateparkLessons
      @SkateparkLessons  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I say to push off your toes so people don’t make a common habit of striking their heel, it doesn’t mean to literally only use your toes, that would be almost impossible to skate like that. Appreciate your input Thanks 💙🛹💙

      Nice, I am 47 as well and and just recently started. I was doing surfing the last few years and since in my country there not many waves, I bought a surfskate for practising and keeping active, but I am totally hooked with skating now. The only thing that somewhat holds me, apart from the lack of time, is that I worry much about the knees and the impact it might have on them such an activity, since I feel them sore after each session.

    Anybody else make the early mistake of pushing mongo? I started skating when I was like 5 years old and didn't realize how problematic it can be until much later in life. I still haven't quite gotten used to pushing correctly and need to build strength in my left knee now that I'm getting older.

    • @rencloudkicker
      @rencloudkicker หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Same. I just started in my late 40's. I'm pushing mongo right now because my stance has more balance regular (that's how I snowboard) but my right knee is a lot stronger so I have to push with my left foot. Injured my left MCL and LCL while in the military and it still isn't 100%. Gonna try these balancing exercises to build some strength with my left leg.

    Hi there :) is there a way to avoid wearing down the bottom of the shoe of your front foot where the pivot spot is? All my shoes end up with holes in this spot. Or does it depend on what type of shoe or grip that you have? I wear Vans. Thanks so much 🧡

    Good stuff. I learned to push mongo when I skated as a kid. Since I started skating again after an extraordinarily long break, mongo came back to me quickly and feels intuitive. But pushing "normally" is something I want to work on. It feels weird and awkward so far, and I'm almost half braking, half pushing with each kick, which means I'm moving at a snail's pace that way :) These videos help by focusing on the little details of form and balance.

      Keeping my head and weight over my front foot while pushing and the small hop to transition my feet into riding position were things I wasn't doing. As such my balance was a mess and I was having trouble just riding on flat ground without bailing every 10-15 pushes. They are small things, but they have a HUGE impact on overall balance, especially for a beginner like me. You did an amazing job over breaking down the mechanics to highlight these problems, this video helped me immensely, thank you. Keep up the good work. +1 subscriber.

    Very helpful video!! One question about the hop into riding stance, and bailing by running forward: If my front foot is ~90 degrees to the riding stance, and I hit a rock, crack, etc, and the board stops suddenly, and I attempt to bail by running forward, my front foot will be stuck on the grip tape with weight on it as I twist my upper body to try to run off with my back foot along the path of the board. How do I avoid causing a twist/sprain in that moment? I was rolling today, taking it easy because of my sprained ankle, and this exact thing happened due to a small rock. Do you try to anticipate these moments and keep the weight on your back foot so that the front foot has time to pivot before running off with the back foot? Or is it okey to ride with the front foot at a 45 degree angle, at least for now while my ankle heals, to avoid that big of a twist when you do have to bail? Thanks again for all your awesome videos!!
