Thanks for your video. Our 2003 Micra has the same problem. Battery's ok, lights on but key won't turn any further to start engine. In the short term, we can get it to start by letting it roll back in a space. This alters some alignment and when we try again, key will turn but AA say we need to get a new starter motor which is pretty dear.
yes bypass works when direct to starter motor seems to be problem with fuse/relay board. I have bridged the white and red wire with fuseable link to see if that solves it cheers sandy PS the problem is it's intermittent
Join a bit of copper wire from the white wire to the red and it will bypass everything u wont need a push button or nothing because the copper wire bypass it
no signal feed at the starter? starter earth and main ok? ignition sending a signal for the relay to latch? bypass the board and send a signal to the starter to see if it turns over
common problem and easy fix, the problem is water gets into the micro switch that sends the signal to the bcm which then send s a signal to open the boot actuator, when water gets in the micro switch it gives continuity so the result is the boot keeps popping open, I just repaired my Mums doing the same thing by buying a JB00A push momentary switch to put in place of the faulty micro switch and job done, to test your switch just remove the interior trim on the tail gate, disconnect the 2 pin wiring connector from the harness to switch and put an ohm meter across the two terminals of the switch, you will find that it shows a reading indicating your switch is faulty, nissan did do a recall on them years ago as it is a common problem.
I am having this problem now .first got in car started then put in revese well in revese car went forward insted so put back in park turn off now just want start any help hear as to what is going on
I have thi problem right now, Garage, i think is changing the box for me, but it needs to be second hand. So we'll see if it needs reprogramed Did not need reprogramming
Hi there, I need to do the same, my parking light and the tail light stopped working and i need to replace the fuse. But haven't been able remove the headlight assembly to get to the fuse box. I removed the two visible screws on top, is there another one hidden somewhere? If so, how can that be removed? Please help. Thanks
delayed reply but anyways usual problem with tail lights are the pins of the connector, they tend to burn. If you open the connector you ll see them either completely missing or totally burned .
Need your help been working all day on it today no luck, it cranks but will not start fuel ok injectors ok sparks new ok , was driving it 150 miles switched it of never started it did fire up ones with easy start but thas about it any idea??? Thanks
Don't use easy start on a petrol engine try brake cleaner and see if it starts, if it does u have a fuel supply issue ie pump etc. Do have a rpm signal on instrument panel?

I was working on grandaughters 2003 Micra 1.4 automatic installing reverse camera. linked into wire for reverse light, after this, I tried to start the car all lights on the dash came on/off but on turning key nothing happens, tried everything including the disconnecting reverse camera. help needed urgently. thanks
Check all fuses u may have inadvertently blown a few! Make sure all wires for automatic box are properly connected as they are wired in series to ensure car will not start if not in park/neutral
@@sandyande Hi Sandy, I've checked all fuses including in the engine compartment, but not under light, yet, it looks to me as if the car isn't finding when I change from park except when taking the key from ignition, and reverse light doesn't come on when I move auto stick into reverse, just as if it is not going into reverse or any other gear as I can move the car back and forth by pushing it. so no gear movement. I'm at my wits end with this.
Hi Sandy I have this exact problem ......but what I did was changed the 10amp fuse an put a 20amp on the box where it writes reverse lp but what happen now is that wen ever I'm driving at night an turn headlight on I lose a lot of power .....plz help
I recall I had a Workshop manual on a k12. its up to 06 and for CR, HR, K9K engines. Not sure what you have. But they look similar. Is this a Manual trans? Well from what I can read out you have a Park/neutral SW input to the IPDM, thats the only variable I can see that you have not covered. But I can´t find the second relay you are talking about. I can send you the stater wiring diag if yo want. Cheers.
cheers autofocus sorry for late reply away on holiday, I seen that p/n switch never came across that on a manual box which this car is. I got diagram from a Haynes manual but this ipdm/bcm seem to be a common problem www.bba-reman.com/gb/content.aspx?content=nissan-micra-k12-ipdm cheers sandy
hey. i have exact same issue, replaced ignition switch but still an intermitent start fault, did you ever get to the bottom of this. thanks for vid anyway as i now will look in that fuse & relay box n see if i can link anything out or swap relays about to find fault
james rymer we ended installing push button start button wired into ignition feed and bypassed the fancy fuse box by cutting and bridging the white wire (that comes from ignition switch crank position) to the red wire that goes to starter motor, hope that helps I think the root problem is ignition barrel but it's not cost effective to replace because Nissan have to programme it in, any questions just give us a shout, sandy
Hi Sandy, having a similar problem. Ignition switch changed, starter motor replaced. Car has behaved itself so far but I am interested in your bypass method. Would you care to elaborate on exactly how you installed a push button start? If my ignition switch checks out to be ok, would it be possible to just bypass the fancy fuse box and still use the key to start? What would this entail? Many thanks, Steve
Hi friend, for some reason the security light pops up for mine but it has the same symptoms as yours, a buzzing and clicking noise as if the relay has gone bad. If I bypass the relay by bridging the starter with a screwdriver it starts right up. Do you think its not a security problem or just a bad relay?
@@sandyande Hmm, i was troubleshooting some more and found all my interior fuses are blown. I think that may be the reason for this. It may have been from someone jumpstarting the car wrong and causing the fuses to burn like mine as I got it as a non-runner. Have you seen anything before like this?

check your wiring for breaks where the wires pass through the tailgate to body, they run through a rubber sheath you need to pull down on the top right hand side, common for these wires to break and cause things to stop working such as rear wiper motor, high level stop lamp, rear heated windscreen and boot actuator motor.
