Hey, so I used your link and bought 2 ascent18s. I have an unrelated question for you on your 1/10 ascent. What do you use to keep the cab on? I'm struggling to come up with a good solution.
Redcat isnt trying to squeeze us for every penny nor does it offer a lemon. Other companies should take note. This hobby often gets taken advantage of the vulnerable consumer(s). Good job #RedcatRacing
I think if they focus on engnineering and value, they can thrive in a few markets. Crawlers is where they're hitting their stride. The lowriders and scale hauler are awesome too.
Redcat is durable as Hell. I was at an outdoor track, and this guy was launching a Landslide. Not holding back, and man did it hold up. It also handle the track well.
I received my RedCat email introducing the 18th scale truck. I ordered one immediately. I think the Axial 1/24 are too small etc etc. I sold them all. I have a Trx4m. Way better than an Axial 1/24. I recently purchased a Marksman T8. That thing is a beast. I upgraded the tires and rims on mine now it’s even better. I’m impressed with RedCat. So that’s why I’m going to give the RedCat 18 a try
I just wanted to say, “love this channel, the content (of course), the enthusiasm and knowledge”. Oh and I’m ordering this from your link. One for me and one for the wife lol…🤘🏻🇺🇸
Because wheel weights are equally above and below the axle shaft, there by making the center of the axle where the sum of weight is . But diffs and linkages are lower than the top(or center) of the wheel. However... I think wheel weights are the best place to put your first $ because the corners are where stability comes from.
Correct!!! Wheel weights are good since they're easily transferred from one rig to another. Causes load and stress on the motor and drivetrain so better if the motor on the rig can handle the acceleration and braking load of the weighs.
I have been holding out on the mini cars, mainly because of price. I did order thiis one. $99.99 includes free shipping and no tax added, just $99.99!!! Way to go Redcat!
Having dealt with red Cat and their customer service I would really think hard about picking one of these up. I do like the looks and style of this truck. The $99.00 is a nice price and think that this should be the normal price.
FWIW, I had bad luck with Redcat customer service. I had a Gen 7 Sport that broke its front dogbones within three runs. I emailed and asked them for replacmements, and they wrote back that they considered that normal wear and tear and couldn't send me replacements. That has always left a bad taste in my mouth about Redcat. I did buy an Ascent this year, because I was intrigued by it, and it has been good, but I still don't really care for them as a company because of that customer service experience.
I peeled the stock tires from the plastic wheels, switched to a softer DJ Crawler foam, and added a set of brass wheels from RCBois, only mods I've done, and it is night and day, over stock. It is the foams that make the stock tires seem too hard and stiff. I noticed a huge difference in the foams from tire to tire inside the tires from out of the box even. Too stiff, and not fully cut the same.
I think a lot of people forget that Redcat is actually a leader in the 18th market. Years ago before the small scale fad started they made the Redcat Everest16 It disappeared back then tho because the market wasnt there yet.
OK . It's not expensive. It has bearings everywhere. It has oil shock absorbers. It has a good battery. But ... He doesn't have a hard body. It is not known if it is waperproof. The tires are glued so we won't be able to recover them like on the Traxxas. But above all, when Traxxas released all its upgrades they were almost hanged and accused of killing the secondary market!! The redcat is killing the secondary market before the car even comes out and everyone is happy! 🤔 In short, even if it is cheaper, it will not be sold in Europe like the 1/10. Redcat is very very hard to find on the European market and as I live in Europe, I will not be able to have it, I will stay with Traxxas...
Axial has been a perfect experience. My lhs does have redcat parts in stock. Whats up with horizon refusing to answer the phone. A 72 hour call back. What dist sells redcat.
I knew it would be a mini but not a mini me of the Ascent. Definitely getting one at that price & all mini’s should be clip less bodies anything but those small clips that are a pain & you just loose them all.
It sucks to be in Canada...it's not $99 for us to get this ascent 18. I was going to buy it at the Redcat website but FedEx shipping + taxes and duties they ridiculously charge the total price is over $168USD and in Canadian $ in todays exchange rate it's almost $230CAD. NOT cheap for us here. I'll just have to wait til Canadian stores have it in their online stores.
I agree but I like working on it out of every other one. I have every other one on the market that’s worth buying and the fcx is my favorite stock truck to wheel
I just wish Redcat would make some effort into looks of the vehicles. They are ugly as sin....can't stand them. Everything I've heard they are good at crawling but too ugly for my taste.

I got into crawling with the Gen7 and that is still my go to till this day, it has been modified like heck and crawls good!
That price is insane for this little beast....really liking the direction redcat are going
Happy for Redcat, they should remain focused on the crawler genre, we benefit from their quality and fair and reasonable pricing.
I think if they focus on engnineering and value, they can thrive in a few markets. Crawlers is where they're hitting their stride. The lowriders and scale hauler are awesome too.

Redcat should thank the Lowrider Community for funding all these new crawlers 😂

Ordered a silver one while Redcat was still live on TH-cam. $99 is just a deal you can’t refuse.
Redcat got me into the hobby with the Gen 8 Scout. Nice to see them bringing the heat over the past couple yrs.
I just wanted to say, “love this channel, the content (of course), the enthusiasm and knowledge”. Oh and I’m ordering this from your link. One for me and one for the wife lol…🤘🏻🇺🇸
Shrinkflation is really hitting RC world hard too I see. For every 10th scale, 2-3 minis come out

Going to pick this up for my son for his birthday. Looks like a great rig to learn on.
It is good. All the control, skills, upgrades are 100% relevant to the bigger scale.
I have been holding out on the mini cars, mainly because of price. I did order thiis one. $99.99 includes free shipping and no tax added, just $99.99!!! Way to go Redcat!
Nice I like the look of the truck, 99 dollars is good deal too might have to pick one up
You should. Better than the rest near its price range. Upgrade path too.
Really want it.
But I'd never use it.
Especially with this hot-as-hell summer coming up
Great news for the RC community! These is what people need! Awesome rig!
Having dealt with red Cat and their customer service I would really think hard about picking one of these up.

$99 is darn good. I've dealt with Redcat, customer service and I'd say it's bettern than most RC.

Just purchased mine about an hour ago...should be very cool.

Redcat is on it man!! So glad Invested in there products
So, does FMS LC60 or Redcat Ascent 18 take the cake?
For the money, just a good RC! Even at the later selling cost of around $120 (US), still a good buy.
Did you say what the wheel tire combo was?
Love your videos very informative
Do you have links for the indoor crawler course?
Can u please do a side by side comparison with 1/16 wpl c24 or c14 or any wpl
Badass I will own it. I have quite a few red cats. I like them
They sell the truck for 99$ but the shipping in Canada cost 78$ + 30 tax = 208$ US or 282$ CAD
Looks good, and for that price, it's a win imo. There definitely isn't a perfect rig, but there is a perfect price point 👌
Totally agree. What a great way to say it.
My hobby shop doesn't carry Redcat. 😞
The amount of 1/18 hitting the market is really going to force a comp class to open up. The market has been exploding.
It is catching fire. And that's good.
Damn proxy and vpn problems on the website. I turned my vpn off and the site still sends me an error message
My first RC was a Redcat. RS10, I think it was called.
Axial has been a perfect experience. My lhs does have redcat parts in stock. Whats up with horizon refusing to answer the phone. A 72 hour call back. What dist sells redcat.
Wow awesome video my friend,, and cool rc car 👍👍💯😊😊😊😊😊
Correction. Lhs and hobby town no redcat parts in stock.
Fms were the best 2 days ago now redcat are the best 👌🏻
I knew it would be a mini but not a mini me of the Ascent. Definitely getting one at that price & all mini’s should be clip less bodies anything but those small clips that are a pain & you just loose them all.
We need a mini Oscar the driver.
Used your links good sir!
Nice Integra receiver
Your gotta give it to to RC. They offer a lot or the price of their vehicles
Why didn't you show the chassis and how it is set up in it
Sorry, forgot to edit in all my detailed chassis photos. Here they are: photos.app.goo.gl/NthtuQoZuYV8LcX97
Review with more of a breakdown

Why is it every time I watch your vids my wallet gets thinner?😮
Torn on this vs the FX118 Katana. ;__;
Looks promising.
Very good, easy to work on and upgrades available already.
and to think i was gonna stick with my fcx18
scared tf out of me at 0:50
Sold 😊
Bought 1 fms 6 scale jeep first 20 minutes the rx failed and horizon hobbys refuses to answer the phone.
Nice 👍🏾
@5:14
money, money, money!
Did you just leak it haha
No. Was announced on redcats fb page already
@@DavidFernandez-sc5ws when he posted it. it was 45 mins before they announced it .
@@MrJoseph5120 huh. Strange. Because I watched the live before this video was on the channel
The weak link is..links. good excuse for aluminum ones. Lol
People actually break them?
The trx4m is probably the worst mini crawler out of the box
Ours has full bearing kit, low gear and steering tune
Would you expect any less from a Traxxas product?
I loved my high trail out of the box and would have been content leaving it. I hate the Defender even with upgrades.
This is such a braindead take
I agree but I like working on it out of every other one. I have every other one on the market that’s worth buying and the fcx is my favorite stock truck to wheel
Its almost like your high 😂
Articulation 😮
I just wish Redcat would make some effort into looks of the vehicles. They are ugly as sin....can't stand them. Everything I've heard they are good at crawling but too ugly for my taste.
