I agree. I came away from my first viewing experience absolutely loving this film and Lazenby’s interpretation of 007. It is one of the only Bond movies that closely follows one of Ian Fleming’s novels. Made me wish we got more of him as the super spy instead of just the one and done.
For a long time it was not considered a good Bond film but it's one of the best and it's finally gotten the respect it deserves. It's too bad Lazenby blew his shot after he made this one. I think he would have been considered a good one if he'd done at least a few of them.
I too was very fortunate to have been able to visit Piz Gloria about 2 months ago. So cool to have an entire museum just for this movie! There was a lady dancing to German techno music on the helipad area when I was there. This has always been one of my favorite Bond movies. So many aspects are well done. One I'd like to highlight is the musical score... one of the best ever done. One more thing... the final Daniel Craig movie paid tribute to this movie quite a bit. Notable that of all the Bond movies ever, this was the one they chose to reference. I think that adds a few more kudos to rhis movie too.
OHMSS is one of my favourites - and such an emotional ending! I'm lucky enough to have visited piz gloria and the museum there. 3 trains and two cable cars to get there! well worth it 🙂. So many well-known 'Bond' girls too. (to British viewers anyway)
Thanks for watching and subscribing! The movie is so good! That’s amazing you made the trek to Piz Gloria I bet the views and environment were incredible!
My mother had read the book and told me how it ended. Ordinarily you don't want to know the ending. I'm glad she did. Otherwise I would have been in absolute tears leaving the theater. My sister and her boyfriend saw it before I did. Naturally I asked "How's the new guy?" He said, "You won't even think of Sean Connery." He was right. Years later it occurred to me that this was not written with Connery as Bond. It was not a Connery script. I've always thought Lazenby was at least credible. Savalas was the best Blofeld. And Diana Rigg? The single best moment in all the Bonds is when we see Tracy at the skating rink with that beautiful music in the background. It's the last thing I want to see before passing on to the next life.
Skunk at the garden party. "We have all the time in the world" is a beautiful piece of music...totally ruined by Louis Armstrong. I may stand alone, but it's how I feel. Should have been a choral.
@@RetroArchaeology its funny there was a documentary about George Lazenby, his agent was a weird hippie who convinced him that spy films were on their way out and a time of great revolution was coming and none of this really mattered and George bought it hook line and sinker.

My favourite Bond film, and Rigg is the best actress in the series. Louis Armstrongs last recording, Barry's score. Let's ignore the chickens though
it’s SHOT up my rankings, incredible film!

Thankyou my favourite Bond film equal with Casino Royale, with Tracy as the only time Bond married
more people need to know how good it is!
this never happened to the other fellow.
that’s moment was great, fun nod to everything before

What a shame George and Peter Hunt didn't do a few more together.
I am not a spy
Good video so far, but why are you displaying the VHS cassette?
EDIT: Now I understand why
Thanks for watching! I’ve collected all the CBS Fox Drawer VHS releases of
the Bond films and watching them in 4:3 like I used to see them on TV
@@RetroArchaeology , have you considered getting an RCA to HDMI converter to watch these movies on your HDTV set?
@@Neville60001VHS really doesn’t look good scaled up that big, I definitely prefer them on my Trinitron CRT
@@RetroArchaeology, it's too bad that Super VHS isn't with us anymore, or that D (Digital) VHS didn't take off.
