I can still remember the first time I saw a PSP. It was circa '07 or '08 and I worked as a data technician. So I'm on the job at a customers house and he's on the couch playing his PSP. I look over and say, "what is that." He was playing WipeOut Pure and the graphics blew me away. Then, he popped the first Spiderman movie into the UMD drive and my jaw hit the floor. I think I went out and bought a PSP the next day.

Make sure to have a memory card when using RetroArch! I did not have a memory card for my PSP Go and was only using my Internal storage. This was making RetroArch crash when loading (ms0:/) in Load content. In conclusion have a memory card and preferably install RetroArch on memory card. Hope this helps.🤗

TO ALL THE PEOPLE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE PSP GO
in this video he uses a PSP go but installs it on a memory stick. the problem is by default all of the retroarch directories are automatically set to memory stick locations. if there is no memory stick, nothing will load and the system will crash when trying to access these locations, as they do not exist. if you go into settings > directories then you will see all of the retroarch directories are looking inside "ms0" (the memory stick). So what I did was I went on my pc and created folders for each of the directories. I then put these in the root of the retroarch folder on the PSP. Then, back on the PSP, I went onto retroarch and to settings > directories and relocated all the directories to their corresponding folder inside the retroarch folder on "ef0" (internal storage). Doing this allowed me to save a new config file. However, it seems that retroarch doesn't load this new config file by default and instead keeps loading the default, non-existent one from "ms0". Unfortunately, I still had no luck, as it kept trying to load the default config, even when i selected the custom one un "ef0". I will keep trying and keep this comment updated.

Idk if I need system bios or what cause I’ve been trying to load gameboy games on mine and ( when I load it up I’ll select the core I need then content and go to the psp folder then the retroarch folder and downloads where i have the roms sorted by system and pick a game then it’ll ask for a suggested core then I’ll pick the same like at the start but when it is supposed to load it just gives me a blank screen and turns my psp off completely) I honestly don’t know if it’s something I’m doing or not

Prompted with a message saying, "Failed saving config to "ms0:/PSP/RETROARCH/retroarch.cfg". This directory does not exist either. Tried fresh downloads and copying data on PSP Go several times. Running on "PSP GO 6.61 Infinity PRO" CFW. Pls help.
what is happening is by default retroarch is looking inside the "ms0" partition. This is the memory card slot, which I'm assuming you don't have insterted. This is the case with pretty much all directories, unfortunately, as the program was made to run on other PSP models.

my card works in the PC and is formatted fat32, but when inserted in PSP it says cannot be read, asks to format.
May be a little late to answer your question but your card needs to be formatted in the PSP before you can use it

The cores should theoretically be already loaded on there u just need the roms, and the usb cable to connect to a pc

Make sure after extracting, that its not RetroArch>retroarch>rest of files. Just the retroarch>rest of files. Fixed my corrupted issue

for mobile: hold down on the download button then it will say open in new tab then click that and your download will start automatically for pc: right click the download button the itll say open in new tab click that and boom ur download will start

I'm having issues running the gpSP on my psp 3000 model through RetroArch, keeps saying it's failing to load content. I put the BIOS file into the system folder after learning i needed to download it too, but it didn't help. Any ideas?

i skipped the part of dragging the "NES" folder and "Super Nintendo" folder to RetroArch bc frankly I don't understand it. I did move the retroarch folder into the psp>game. opened up my PSP GO and attempted to open RetroArch and it says "Corrupted Data". PLEASE HELP

Go check if there are 2 retroarch folders when you extract the .7z or .zip file. It happened to me, just make sure there's only one, mine had retroarch into retroarch into the rest of the files. Just remove the beginning folder. :) lmk if you need more help

the same thing happened to me so instead of coping over retoarch i opened it once and copied that 1 folder over. worked perfectly

I wish you had gone more indepth specifically with the pspGo model, as when I tried nothing worked, it defaulted to trying to save everything to a memorystick, which I don't need since I'm just using the internal 16gb space. Cores wouldn't load, configs didnt save, app was useless 🤨

So, every one of these things i try somehow magically doesn't work and wastes my time.
It doesn't launch the game it just goes to black screen and never recovers I pressed some buttons after trying zipped unzipped etc accidently pressed some buttons now my psp is stuck on a loading screen. Thanks for destroying my PSP. I followed all the steps properly. Edit:It kept saying loading so I had to force close psp by holding close button for 5 seconds or something

Retroarch honestly doesn't work too well for PSP, you're better off using specific emulators like gpSP Kai

PS2 games won't run on PSP. Hardware can't handle it
