    It's all well and good getting the perfect finnish. The reality of plastering is to cover large areas to a good/high standard. Perfectionist rarely make money. I'm plastering thirty years,. I'm not against all these new systems like spatula s plaziflex superflex etc but don't get too caught up in them, I think sometimes they can slow you down.

    This is the video I'm been looking for to learn... I needed to know what stage to do each stuff... also if you had to do a 2nd coat, after how long do you have to wait to put the 2nd coat on the 1st??? Is it OK to use the same batch for 2nd coat?

    • @NiktheEnglishGreekCypriot
      @NiktheEnglishGreekCypriot 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      First coat needs to firm up before you second coat, if you can touch the plaster and it doesn’t stick to your finger then it’s ready for a second coat. Same mix is fine, you can wet it up if it’s gone off too much

    I'm gonna give my 2 cents here. There's alot of criticism about this walk and I could do it better etc etc. But here's the truth of the matter. Ok the wall is DEFINITLEY not 18m2, and yes normally one guy would do it on his own, but if you really understand plastering, how it sets up, timings etc etc, you can get away (wrong word here) plaster in one coat. I worked in the states a few years ago, and they plaster the same way or, first coat, double back with the same batch and add a thin second coat and proceed as necessary. This whole argument of first coat, wait till firms up, flatten in then second coat blah blah blah, is how they teach you in college. In the REAL world where you need to produce VOLUME you'd never make any money. Remember here they also never did a dry trowel towards the end where that flattens even more, so I see nothing wrong here. Good job. Plastering is changing, gotta move with the times. The whole point of out trade is to find that perfect compromise between speed and productivity, with the least effort. Great job.

    9 x 600mm full ceiling tiles and 2x 300mm cuts = 6m x a typical 2.4 m wall height gives you a14.4m2 area, would it be better for one guy to do this job on his own and the other guy do another.? Even done properly with two coats ,closed in and three trowels with clearing and packing up is only about 3/ 3 and a half hours for one man.

    This new trend for one coating and sponge floats! I swear a good plasterer using two coats is as quick or quicker with less working of the material. And the examples shown are always of flat walls, most skimming involves uneven backgrounds and adding more plaster around beads and linings. Traditional Irish plasterers could out perform anyone with any modern technique. Thanks.

      Remember to make sure you get the plaster on at a minimum thickness of 3mm. it takes some practise to get it on to that thickness first time. So my advise would be to put your normal first coat on and then go over straight away with a second coat, that should give you the 3mm. Then slowly you will get used to putting it on thickness required.

    • @london-plasterercom
      @london-plasterercom  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nick Makris I use a 40 inch plastic refina called a plazi flex spatula. It's better than the steel as it holds its shape longer than the steel ones as the steel spatulas tend to warp after time. Also the plastic doesn't draw the water to the surface as much. It's also cheaper than the steel spats..

    • @nickmakris2971
      @nickmakris2971 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Excellent. The plastic spat your using its a bit stiffer and the blade is a bit thicker therefore holding its shape and for better flattening? (.4mm according to Beroxpert) They also make a thicker metal blade at .4mm as the super flex spat is .25mm, have ya used the .4mm in the steel.
