"Tony Richardson was a pilot for Western Airlines, living in LA, when he first became aware of the Wills brothers and their wing building business. He had always been attracted to unusual sports and was a well known Cresta Run rider in St. Moritz, Switzerland. The Cresta was like the luge run but you were on your stomach on the toboggan, or skeleton, as they were called. Going at 60 miles an hour on an icy downhill gulley seemed to attract people looking for unusual thrills! So hang gliding fascinated him! He contacted the Wills brothers and got to know them well. He bought #65 and was very proud of it! He learned to fly it with Bob and got the hang of it quickly. (Pardon the pun!) His main flying areas were Escape Country, Sylmar, Torrey Pines and Palomar. His longsuffering wife and 2 children would be the ones to take him up to the launch sites and faithfully pick him up at the bottom! This went on from about 1971 to 1975. I know it was a great thrill to fly, but the downside in those years was the toll it took on young lives. We remember well Eric Wills's death and the death of several more, including Sizemore. The other names escape me now.
After leaving LA and moving to Seattle, and learning of Bob's death, the hang glider was packed away and
never used again."
