      kaydee1959 I agree. He just looks exhausted at times... i should show guys some of her videos so maybe they won’t think of my mild epilepsy as a big deal.

      Kaydee 1954....you got that right! I suffer from a lot of Chronic illnesses and my first DH passed away in 2002. I met another man a few years later, became engaged to him, and we have been married for 4 yrs now. There's a lot of awesome men out there, you just have to "weed" through all the bad ones LOL !

    I love when people ask why you have your service dog do things you could do, when they're trained to do it. It's not about if you can or can't do it in that moment. It's about making your life as easy as possible with your obstacles. And besides, the more Harlow uses her skills the more cemented they will be, so it's mutually beneficial.

    Hi jaquie. Idk if anyone already suggested this but maybe it's smart to get elastic shoe lashes. With those you don't have to untie your shoes as much so it's easier to tie them. Especially if your hands are hurting.

    Cookie (black lab), my hearing service dog, when she came home to me after a year of training at Can Do Canines in Minnesota,she was trained to “jump up, and press” the HC door button. I don’t need it, but I do it for her so she can be excited to be working. She does pick up items if I drop it. She’s smart. I’m working on doing some more fun tricks with her.

      It's only meant to be used when I absolutely need it, so it's not a matter of getting in the car and putting it on automatically. I only use when needed on longer car rides. My rheum doesn't want me using them frequently.

    I wanted to ask Judd a question: what’s it like for you having a partner who is sometimes in a wheelchair? When you are walking beside Jacquie, do you miss having her standing and walking with you? Is it hard to have conversations and feel like you are together with that difference in height, and the distance between the two of you, or are you just used to it by now? Thanks. Glad you are doing so well, Jacquie!

We are looking into getting a service dog for my father who is a veteran and needs one for his loss of hearing, eye sight and stability. We are trying to go through the VA, but I recall you initial problems when you were first seeking a service dog. I just want to make sure we go through a legitimate organization. Hey I'm from Luxembourg and our system is similar as the one in Germany!, there's health insurance (Krankenversicherung/Krankenkasse) that covers most of her stuff. Jacquie pays a monthly or annual fee for her health insurance and in return, they help paying for her medical suplies! If you have any questions, you can ask me (also in German, if that's easier for you :) )

    I have a question for all service dog handlers. What is your proffered style of vest/harness for your dog. I have a standard poodle and his main task is going to be mobility.
    What are your suggestions

    • @allykaufman8463
      @allykaufman8463 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      look up purple poodles harness on fb or ig. They make amazing affordable momentum pull and counterbalance harnesses. Just make sure your pup is old enough and cleared by a vet for mobility before starting mobility tasks.

    Just a quick question.... What happens if you are having issues and Judd is working? I have a son that's a police officer and it seems as though he is always gone! I just wondered what you do when you need help and he isn't home Jacquie???

    • @ChronicallyJaquie

    • @holiday-td6hx
      @holiday-td6hx 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jaquie....thanks! If you hadn't mentioned the Medic Alert that you have, I was going to suggest it. My DH (he passed away in 2002) had a medic alert system as well. IT really helped out, because I could go down to the corner store(which wasn't far from our house at the time) and feel pretty sure that if anything happened to DH the kids could push the Alert button and get help.
      Take care...and thanks for answering my question ! :)

      Honestly, if someone looks at my feet these are going to be noticeable no matter what color you choose. I love the color pink. There was a brighter, more "hot" pink option too, but I liked the lighter tone. Since I need this equipment, I like it personalized when possible.

    Hi Jacquie I just bought my nephew the Guinness world book of records (2018), and wanted your reaction to their representation of Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. Garry Turner (UK) was compared to a superhero because he can pull the skin of his torso out 15 cm. Is it good that awareness is being raised? Will pm you the image of the page. If it isn't too personal, can you also pull out your skin further than most? I love following you thanks for another great video. Xxxx

    • @xclumsyangelx
      @xclumsyangelx 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can't PM you. this is what it says; 'Elastic Man. Who better to mimic Mr Fantastic's extreme plasticity than Garry Turner (UK), the man with the stretchiest skin? Garry can pull the skin of his stomach out to 15.8cm (6.22in) owing to Ehlers-Danlos syndrome - a disorder of the connective tissues affecting the skin, ligaments and internal organs. It results in a loosening of the skin and "hypermobility" of the joints.'
