Thanks for the tip about the tips. I, like you, thought that you wanted it clean every time. Also, hopefully they don't try to park those jets in your yard again.
For those wondering, the Weller soldering station has many different rebranded variants that all are built the same (based on reviews) with the most popular being the ZD-99 variant. So if you can't find the specific iron (you will though) you can go for the ZD or other variants and get the same iron station
a couple of things cap, just coming from someone who knows a bit about electronics, lead free solder is not really much better in my experience, lead free solder flux is much more acidic and nasty, the solder also does not like temperature change much it is more likely to crack and break the connection if it goes from hot to cold. if I had a buck from number of times I have fixed stuff for people just by reflowing the joint of lead free solder that broke generally speaking breathing in the fumes from lead free solder is as bad or worse then the fumes from lead solder. also a tip if need be you can use the barrel of a soldering iron to shrink the shrink wrap if need be I have done that plenty of times myself ultimately properly does not matter in nerf but it is just what I think and have experienced myself otherwise quite a good video I have seen much worse soldering basics type videos
Hey cap, you should also cover the different ways of joining wires (lap joint, hook joint, western union). As someone who has soldered components for something in a fairly high stress environment (it got attached to a weather balloon) I can say that half of having a strong joint is how the wires themselves are connected. Lead is obviously not the strongest of metals so it really needs the support. Also thanks for another great video. I know when I started I had no idea what I was doing and a video like this would have saved me a lot of headaches so really thank you for all that you do for the community with these sorta nerf PSAs.
Can you please do another one of the these but with motors and AA battery trays? Thank you for making this video! You taught this better than my school.
Thank You! I have watched many Soldering Videos and could never See what was happening due to the camera angle chosen. This made the instructions actually make sense. Thank you!
Integration-techniques are definitely what *I* wanna learn... "Vidar" and "Grandpap's Old-Timey Squirrel Rifle" are integrations I got comin' down the pike. But hey! Now I know how to solder properly!
Hey Capt could you please review the new Chrono barrel? I am thinking about buying one but I don't have a real chronograph to test it against. It would really mean a lot to me if you could.
I don't know about exceptable but it is certainly acceptable. ;P. It is not as good as it will never hold quite as well but it will insulate just fine.
@@CaptainXavier i always mix those two up XD but anyways thank you for your input as always, your monday mod tip videos have been a big help with me learning how to mod, especially your tool kit videos
He cap I have a question for Friday fan mail and q and a I'm trying to rewire my jin urso blaster and the battery I have is a Nintendo 3ds battery how should I go about connecting it
vanoss fan 121 anywhere that sells LiPo batteries. Out of Darts sells good ones on his etsy shop. There is a fair bit of research needed though so do your homework first.
xXPigcraftYTXx Plays I did for years. If you're not concerned about space and you do a good job, it's fine. But heat shrink is a much better option, and necessary for wiring Lipo plugs.
ah, soldering, the reason I will never mod a flywheel blaster. The thing that drives me insane is hardware store will sell like the iron itself and the solder, but NEVER anything else in person, including any method whatsoever of removing solder (unless you buy a very expensive one with a built in pump), you just ALWAYS have to get that online for some reason even though it would take inches of shelf space. That would be like if a office store sold pencils but didn't have erasers ANYwhere in the store FFS.
Thanks for doing this video, it's nice to finally learn what exactly we should and shouldn't do. Keep up the good work comrade! P.S. I have an idea for an character, like how you have your character that you play in HVZ. I'm going to make a character called Agent Fluffy. I haven't figured out anything else beside that, except I have found what color scheme I shall use(Primary Color: either white or Navy, secondary: bright blue and a little navy, and black and grey detailing). The character I make might not always be a functional NPC and instead simply a name.
Xavier. Captain Sir. I am working on a double shot blaster mod that is gonna look a lot like walkoms. I’m using the same base blaster but I’m also integrating it with a rough-cut. If you have any nice looking scrap parts that you can part with I would greatly appreciate the extra material. And if you would like maybe I can show you pictures along the way.Keep on captaining and defending the masses from the zombie horde. Your loyal merc, Sir.Gren aka wild Walderman aka Jake Walderman

thanks for posting this cap, as all ways the videos was clear and very informative. cant wait for more soldering tips
This is the video I’ve been waiting for

Thank you for making this video! You taught this better than my school.
Soldering, SOLDERING. Love Monday mid tips and your channel.
Pause for Dramatic Airplane
the rosen tip helped me. I hadn’t been doing that. I will have to pick up some rosen... I think I have some somewhere. Was using it wrong tho

THANK YOU! i always thought you jjust melted the copper wires together
O.o Good lord...what were you using to heat that?
idk. i thought the iron got hot enough to melt the copper together
Oh, GODS no! The melting temp of copper is almost 2000 degrees...
Oh, i thought since it was so flexible it melted easy. Then again on the king of random they did say something about the melting temp of copper
Great video. Something along of people take for granted. ThankQ. TkEZ»UK
Foamblast sells Kelly Industry Motor boards that make it super easy for new modders to wire up motor, pretty cheap too
I know...they sent me one to review...
You should try turning a rotofury into a rival shotgun
8 minutes?! Awesome!
Integration-techniques are definitely what *I* wanna learn... "Vidar" and "Grandpap's Old-Timey Squirrel Rifle" are integrations I got comin' down the pike.
But hey! Now I know how to solder properly!
Thank you thank you thank you thank you
Indeed very helpful.
Yay ayayayay more videooooossss
What do you think of the thunderhawk and what would you change/mod
It is a combination of the worst parts of Nerfs 3 worst blasters. The Deploy, the Centurion, and the Battlescout. I would change everything.
You should do a second modification tool kit
I never heard of flux. Good to know
Cap, could you do a cosmetic mod guide that is easy and for the raptor strike? I picked up a 2nd one at goodwill and want to paint one of them
Hunter Gant There is no such thing as a cosmetic mod guide. Figure out what color/style you want to paint it, learn how, and do it.
Hey Capt could you please review the new Chrono barrel? I am thinking about buying one but I don't have a real chronograph to test it against. It would really mean a lot to me if you could.
I will try to get one soon.
Would electrical tape be an exceptable replacement for heatshrink?
I don't know about exceptable but it is certainly acceptable. ;P. It is not as good as it will never hold quite as well but it will insulate just fine.

@@CaptainXavier you and walcom have both been helpful :) along with multiple modding groups on Facebook
My flux is so cold it is almost frozen solid, I had to heat it up in the house before i could use it
do most flywheels blasters have the same mag release?
No. Every one is different.
He cap I have a question for Friday fan mail and q and a I'm trying to rewire my jin urso blaster and the battery I have is a Nintendo 3ds battery how should I go about connecting it
I have NO idea. What is the voltage and current on one of those?
Captain Xavier the voltage is 3.7 and the current is 1750mah
vanoss fan 121 that...will not work. At all. Even stock motors require at least 6v.
Captain Xavier oh ok I will be looking for one thank you and were should I look for one

My solder drips off the tip of iron. Am I doing something wrong? Lol
Sounds like your tip is corroded/charred. I would try replacing it.
Cant wait for can it take a K26. That's gonna be fun
.....you're waiting for "can a soldering iron take a k26"?
Corvid Eclectica no. But would be interesting
The opening music didn't play for some reason.
There is no opening music on these videos.
Captain Xavier Oh. Whoops! I just got used to hearing Oh Fortuna when I open one of your videos!
Yeah, I wanted the mod tips to be something you could make a playlist of and not have the jarring music between every tip.
I don't know if your going to do another goodwill video soon but I like nerd captain America blasters and nerf pistols if your doing a give away.
For some reason I could never find a vid explaining this. Thank you 😭
my soldering iron tips just keep melting off
make sure to leave solder on it when you turn it off so it doesnt oxidize like he says in the video
What's up cap u remember me?
The guy in Kansas looking for an HvZ group?
Captain Xavier yea lol
No music why
...Monday mod tips has never had opening music...
OK I've never knew

One or two but nothing complex yet.

Hi cap
Hi
Did you know it was a C-17 by the sound, or did you just get up and look?
Sound. They fly over all the time and have a very distinct sound.
Captain Xavier, ah my dad can do the same thing but with more types of aircraft.

Do a mosfet guide
Ohh welp this sucks XD I've always cleaned off my soldering iron as well and I've ruined like 4 tips cause of it, so thanks now I know
Oh, that's why soldering iron is super rusted.
