the funny thing was that they were supposed to be exact parallels of naruto & sasuke but kind of different. madara, the uchiha, was much like naruto in goof & wanting to catch up with hashirama. hashirama, the senju who married an uzumaki, was like sasuke in innate talent & being good in everything he does.
comparison wise, hashirama & madara's relationship had more deep foundation. it was always sharing of their ideals & dreams for the future of their families & other people, not just because of the sense of acknowledgement (in naruto's part) that's why them ended up fighting again hurt more. madara, at some point after his brother's death & entire clan's surrender to senjus, he tried to accept hashirama's helping hand. he tried to move on & be on track again, despite seeing & having to interact with tobirama (the one who killed his last remaining brother) almost every day. he tried to go back in doing right, until he was manipulated into believing a lie from the stone tablet.
