I appreciate the animorphic shots, Graham. I usually watch things on my computer in "Theater Mode" and so those black bars feel a bit restrictive in some situations. Also that transition was *chef's kiss*
Just used this as part of my digital sketchbook for my Uni course. Had to do a thing about smartphones in video shooting, editing etc. So thanks, G-Man. Keep 'em coming.
I’d have to rewatch older vlogs but the onboard mic on the X Smax seems to be near the same to the older mic with less interference I guess wind nose might be a future issue depending on location though.
As a fellow film nerd, I love you geeking out over new gear and I absolutely love the 21:9 aspect ratio. What I don't love is the sound, which is noticeably worse, sadly, and I'm not sure about the video quality. The first part looks ok (might just be that the grading is different than other, older gvlogs) but the end bit definitely looks fuzzy and soft. I presume it's the low light performance, but it's not great.
Graham Stark I love it. Have you tried the new Log2 in Filmic Pro? It's a lot better (if you are willing to grade your stuff for 2-3 more stops of dynamic range) They even have official 709 LUTs on their website now.
I just got a new ultra-wide monitor and this is one of the first videos I have watched since hooking it up that actually filled up the screen. It was somewhat shocking. I love it. More widescreen stuff plz?
You have no idea how happy I was when you changed the aspect ratio and it filled the on the OnePlus 6t. Thank you for making videos that work for new big screen phones
THANK YOU for not using letterboxing on the wide aspect ratio! Using baked-in letterboxing just results in weird video on anything with a wider aspect ratio than the device you letterboxed for.
Watching this in landscape *on* an iPhone XS Max, the switch to anamorphic was beautiful! Can’t say I know tech, but I can definitely appreciate it. Good tech update!
Oooh, content that uses nearly all of my ultrawide monitor's available real estate! How lovely! You should use it all the time. I'm interested in the audio as well. It seems clearer with a microphone instead of onboard when you used it on the 7, so hopefully you'll find something.
Weird, TH-cam adds a top and bottom black bar in addition to the side bars for the first part of the video, removes the side bars for the last half of the video, but... the preview image when you move your mouse over the timeline only adds sidebars to the start of the video and crops it fully for the last part. Audio sounded fine BTW.
I was about to comment or tweet that the video seemed to be having weird ratio issues in TH-cam. Really glad I decided to wait until after the video, haha.
After clicking the affiliate code I now desperately want a moment lense telephoto & macro and also one of their cases for my pixel... I must know more.
I ended up buying a moment rig because of your vlogs! Unfortunate it was before you had an affiliate code, but now I have an excuse to save up for the anamorphic lens!
I was in the process of writing a comment about how the video was weirdly floating in the middle of the screen in fullscreen mode as you explained why that was.
That sensual screen protector peel...I think I get why unboxings are so popular now (omg you have Animorphs in your phone? That sounds awkward, maybe you should let them out...) But seriously, watching this on my Pixel 1 in landscape was really cool. The video went all the way to the ends of the phone. I never realized how much space TH-cam doesn't use before. (Of course this is probably the only device shape that didn't need major letterboxing, so...)
Merry Christmas Graham and LRR! I hope the new year brings you the very best! Does moment sell gear for Android (samsung) or windows (nokia) phones? I have a mobile setup that could use some lens options.
Hey Graham as cool as the into looks. I don't think your vlogs need such a flashy intro. I feels like your vlogs are very simple and clean. Despite however much editing goes into them. I feel like they would be mucked up by something so flashy at the beginning. Just my opinion though.
2:13 I was wondering why youtube wasn't resizing properly.
As one of the 5 people who's interested in the audio, I can't wait to see if you keep it with onboard audio or go with a different sound solution.
and with my like makes five. Keep us updated G!
Man, that transition to animorphic was so cool on my desktop while I was home for lunch. Very cool, Graham.
Watched this on my real wide phone, and it was real wide and real pretty. Hope you had a good Christmas.
This is my favourite aspect ratio. Game with it. Movies are mostly shot in it. Now Graham Vlogs with it. It's just the best.
"pray for us" cut to ambulance. Perfect.
It's SO WIDE! It's in fact so wide I have to move my head to comfortably see THE WHOLE WIDENESS
It really does make it less claustrophobic with establishing shots. I like it!
As I watch these on an ultra-wide monitor I appreciate this upgrade.

I like the wideness because I have a X. Feels good to see it go all the way out.

Yeah the last shot was pretty medium, but the light was terrible. That’s not exactly a camera problem.
Looks gorgeous.
Tech Talk like this is exactly what I look for in vlogs. Teach me your ways so I can gain your power.
2:45 JONES BBQ & FOOT MASSAGE! JONES BBQ & FOOT MASSAGE!
The anamorphic moment lens is so much fun.
Map it’s SO COOL

A little! I couldn't find a LUT that worked well for me. Also, the Moment app can shoot Flat *and* Log now!
Loving the intro :) Great fun to watch as always, and I'm always interested to see someone's vlog setup.
Looks awesome in theatre mode on youtube, so that's cool!
I just got a new ultra-wide monitor and this is one of the first videos I have watched since hooking it up that actually filled up the screen. It was somewhat shocking. I love it. More widescreen stuff plz?

woww thats wide, its cool and obnoxious
THANK YOU for not using letterboxing on the wide aspect ratio!

Looks Great on my ultrawide!

Wow, Graham, you really broaden our view. Aha, ahahaha... I'll get me coat.
Oooh, content that uses nearly all of my ultrawide monitor's available real estate! How lovely! You should use it all the time. I'm interested in the audio as well. It seems clearer with a microphone instead of onboard when you used it on the 7, so hopefully you'll find something.
It showed up anamorphic with a thin bar top and bottom in landscape on my XR.
Really like the wide shots :)
I was a Sony Xperia Z2/Z4 user, All glass takes awhile to get used, Just wait til you break your back panel....
I actually love the animorphic, for whatever reason my YubTubs viewport is almost bang on with that aspect ration when I'm not in fullscreen.
Yes, my new phone is also glass. Forget "flat surfaces", I couldn't even hold it.

I appreciate this! I always want everything shot anamorphic.
Just got a note 10 and the anamorphic thing is AMAZING
I was about to comment or tweet that the video seemed to be having weird ratio issues in TH-cam. Really glad I decided to wait until after the video, haha.
I got that exact same combo Tele and anamorphic for my xr!
Nice. Nice to watch on the whole of my phone too.
"Pray for us"
-Ambulance goes by
I think I'll pray for that man
The transition from 16:9 looked a treat on the S9+, especially with K's patented hamming.
oh man you gotta keep the anamorphic ratio it looks soooo cool.
On board audio was pretty good, actually.
Got a real Suspiria vibe at 4:43
I was in the process of writing a comment about how the video was weirdly floating in the middle of the screen in fullscreen mode as you explained why that was.
Lol took me a while to realize the red light was brake lights.
I was just slowly turning satany
@@GrahamStarkVlogs For a moment there I thought it might be another incursion of Gangnam Hell into our realm.
@@GrahamStarkVlogs I thought you just realised Senpai noticed you...
The onboard mic sounded fine to me.
Got an ultra-wide monitor so the video fills the and looks great. Very cinematic! There's isn't enough 21:9 videos out there
OMG My 21:9 ultra wide is very happy with this video, haha. Except for the tiniest slivers of black bars on the sides..
Damn it looks real nice, G
That sensual screen protector peel...I think I get why unboxings are so popular now

Its so cool on my s9+
The opening of the aspect ratio made me think of that one scene in Mommy (Xavier Dolan movie).
Video looks good on my note8
That's the widest a video has ever been on my phone. The corners were actually 90 degrees!
20% More Cinematic
The anamorphic lens stuff is freaking me the fuck out and I don't know why.
Have Ian on TTSF "modify" your case. *Watches Ian slam down drill
About Moment...
Plus side: It's not just iPhone!
Down side: It's mostly just iPhone... (They have Galaxy, Pixel, and One, but not my HTC 10.)
Plus the moment app is...not great on android and doesn't even DO video yet.
Merry Christmas Graham and LRR! I hope the new year brings you the very best!
Does moment sell gear for Android (samsung) or windows (nokia) phones? I have a mobile setup that could use some lens options.
They do make cases for some Samsungs, check their site! :)
@@Linzington thank you!
Fit beautifully my non 16:9 phone! Why do people letterbox at all?
ANAMORPHIC! Dear god stay with the Anamorphic! It looks great! Holy shit. And use the 1/3 rule for framing.
That intro was TIGHT
W I D E lens
Holy moley thats a wide shot G 🤣
I was looking for the Graham's feet times, and was really confused at 3:18 when there were 3 sets of feet, and then I was like "oh yeah". Adulthood.
I love being part of the 5 people who cares
Guess I'm stuck in an infinite void until Graham removes the lens cap.
If only you had 10 Xsmacks, you could have filmed the unboxing of 9 of them with one of them.
Note9, no letterboxing here.
Yay, more GVlog! :D :D :D
Keep animorphic
I definitely like the w i d e footage.
Yeahhhhh!!! New G Vlog!!
Did you vlog anything from pax aus Graham?
We recorded A TON of stuff. It’s gonna go on the LRR main channel.
I have a wide phone. I'm fine with anamorphic gvlogs
no productive feedback. i just like these semi solo vlogs quite a lot.
My Samsung S8 is just as slipery. Kinda dumb.

That’s fair! I just kinda like it 🙂
"I put it on what seems like a flat surface and slowly over the next 10 minutes it just disappears"
Your phone is running away from you Graham.
One should always upload video in its native aspect ratio. Black bars are such a waste.
ESPECIALLY because TH-cam will accept whatever. Square Vine compilations forever!!
