    Awesome video! First 20 minute video I've sat through in a long time. Great editing, content, and video!

      Hi Eric, Thanks for the compliment, I try to keep my videos concise, and this is the longest one I have ever published. I climbed Touchstone after Moonlight and will be putting that video out in a couple of weeks.

    I'm terrified to do this myself but I enjoy seeing people climb wonderful places that I have been. I just stood at the bottom of this wall this past summer and was marveling at the height and beauty. Good luck with your future climbing and thanks for such a fantastic video.

      Hi Chris, thanks for the compliment, I have been trying to step up the production quality of my videos. It takes a long time to compose the shots but adds an interesting layer of insight to the vertical world, and gives me time to admire my surroundings.

    Aid climbing seems like so much hassle and work...but I reckon it gets one places one otherwise couldn't access. And it probably helps you a ton with being able to place gear fast when free climbing! Good job guys, must have been quite an experience!!

    • @BenFrankAdventures
      @BenFrankAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      HI Kuba, yes, aid climbing is slow and requires a lot of gear but its satisfying getting up something that I couldn't free climb and it opens up access to the really nice free pitches.

      Hi Jake, yes it’s a good rope. I usually get whatever rope I can find a good deal on. This one is is holding up well. It’s my first bi pattern rope and I like the concept, easier to find than a middle marker.

    If trad gear is solid but destroys the rock ,then maybe put the occasional bolt there to reduce the erosion ? But no bolts to replace bold run outs.

    Hola,Ben
    Te felicito por este vídeo.
    Estoy interesado en hacer esta ruta, que época del año es la mejor y me puedes enviar la lista de material que has utilizado?
    Muchas gracias y hasta pronto
    Nandi

    • @BenFrankAdventures

      Hola nandi
      La mejor época del año es el otoño o la primavera. Tenga en cuenta que el Parque Nacional Zion puede estar muy concurrido en esa época del año y tendrá que tomar el autobús hasta la base de la subida, pero en invierno puede llegar conduciendo. Necesitará levas, porque las tuercas no funcionan muy bien en la piedra arenisca. grieta vertical. No se permite escalar durante o después de la lluvia porque la roca es muy blanda. Mucha suerte para la subida, es una ruta clásica.

    What is the device that you use to pull your waist up close to the top of the aid ladder? It looks like an orange nylon tape passing thru a metal one-way device with a fifi hook or something similar hooking the top of the ladder. How does it attach to your harness? Who makes this device and where could I get one? Thx, Sincerely Curious.

    Going to be doing the same thing in this Fall! Are you planning on climbing any other walls before the Nose and are you intending on using the 2:1 haul system for the whole Nose?

    • @BenFrankAdventures
      @BenFrankAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi WiscoClimber, yes I climbed Touchstone 2 weeks after Moonlight, I'm editing that video now and I'll be posting it in a few weeks. Planning a trip to Red Rocks soon too.
      As for the hauling, I really like that 2:1 setup and will probably use that most of the time, I don't like to be stuck in my ways though and want to try some space hauling techniques to be proficient enough to have options depending on the terrain and weight of the bags. We will be going heavy though, I prefer to have more water and camera gear than we need, especially on a busy route. We found climbing Touchstone it was busy and we had to wait a long time for the groups ahead of us and it is worth taking extra supplies and have to deal with the weight than pack light to make hauling easy but then bailing because its taking longer than the water will last.

      @@BenFrankAdventures Nice! Ill keep an eye out for the Touchstone edit, we were contemplating that climb as well. Happy Climbing!

    People can just talk to each other now? I can't sit in El Cap meadows and watch a team bailing off the Shield Headwall? Down aiding the roof with ropes blowing sideways wafting down on the wind I hear:
    "Wa waa?""
    "Wa?"
    "Wa wa waa?"
    Wa waat?"
    "Wa waa!"
    "Wa waat?"
    "We're all gonna dieeeeeeeee!!!"
    They didn't.
    I'll miss those days. Wish I still climbed. This looks more way fun than the Column South Face.

    • @BenFrankAdventures
      @BenFrankAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Greg, I know all about that wind, check out my video rope solo climbing Washington Column, ropes blowing around everywhere! We are practicing using the Rockie Talkies, they make communication so easy when it’s windy or there are lots of other parties around who are also shouting.

    I thought that you where going to say that the leopard print is so you can look down and think you have plenty of gear to finish the pitch with out leapfrogging

    • @BenFrankAdventures
      @BenFrankAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats probably true too, I always have plenty of gear on my harness. Typical trad dad overracking gear.
